I agree. I’ve seen this locally and also on this very website.
Hi fellow BP-ers,
I’ve been searching the forums and haven’t yet found the fix for the smushed/overlapping BuddyPress bar that appears in IE6 and IE7.
Anyone know how to ensure that the BuddyPress, Login, and Signup entries remain separate on that bar in IE6, IE7, and now IE8 (in beta).
Thanks!!
I’ve written out the step by step instructions that I use to integrate the latest releases of BuddyPress, WPMU & bbPress. If someone could test it out and give me your feedback I’d be very appreciative. My main question is, do the directions work or did I leave something out?
To know if it works, you should be able to log in and out of WPMU & be automatically be logged in/out of forums. And vice versa.
Also, you should be able to create new groups with posts & replies.
It’s very detailed, so if you’re having problems getting your forums & groups to work, you might want to give it a try. Couldn’t hurt, right?
It can be found at

Any suggestions, questions & feedback are welcome and VERY appreciated!!!
Thanks!!

Hopefully this is being placed in the right area. Something’s wonky with my ISP and I’m unable to get to the front page of the forums. If not, I apologize and could someone plz move it where it belongs? TYVM!!
Thank you so much for your answer Hyrxx, it really made me relax. So, where from should i start first to do something like this? Does it take days to do this or can be completed in a day? Is there a ready plugin for this kinda something? Sorry for bothering you with lots of questions, i just am really excited about a project in my mind based on buddypress.
looking forward for the answers,
good days..
When trying to reply to a message in my inbox, I get an error.
“Cannot load bp-messages.php.”
The page address is “http://buddypress.org/wp-admin/admin.php?page=bp-messages.php&mode=send”
I am using firefox 3.0.9
Standard WP support won’t be coming until a release after v1.
Can’t wait to give it a try, WPMU seems to be a bit like an overkill for my purpose.
You think then it will be possible to see a link like “Books” next to the “Groups” link on the front page? I mean copying the groups component is enough to achieve this goal? I have not got a installed version of Buddypress so i am not able to play with that. I just wondering whether this kinda something is doable or not?
Other than BuddyPress, what other plugins are you running? Try deactivating all but your BuddyPress plugins and see what happens.

too much errors…
just noticed that the profile for buddypress.org doesnt have the wire either. it was there a couple of days ago.
At the moment, you can’t rearrange the profile fields. This is something that will come in future versions of BuddyPress.
Suppose you could dig inside the database but I don’t know offhand how it sorts them.
Are you using the latest default themes? What version WPMU/BuddyPress?
Hi
Best place for this feature suggestion would be to put it as an ‘enhancement’ suggestion https://trac.buddypress.org/newticket – you can log in to that site using the same username and password you do for here. Thanks!
Heh. After weeping tears of blood trying to integrate bbPress, buddypress and wpmu, after several installs, multiple reads of Trent’s tutorial page, I began to suspect XML-RPC problems and jumped back on the forums, found this thread and installed Burt Adsit’s lovely little plugin and am rewarded with:
-32300 >> transport error – could not open socket: -1080553356
Thanks Burt. You rock. Now to figure out how to permit XML-RPC calls locally.

Hmmm… not getting anywhere with this nor any further support. Maybe I should start afresh here:

I think what you want is only profile enabled and other disabled.
Buddypress has options to enable/disable what features do you want to use.
Go to the ‘blog’ tab of BuddyPress, and hover on the ‘My Account’ on the Admin Bar, then i got this error information:
Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home/.knox/zheng1212/doglish.cn/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-core/bp-core-adminbar.php on line 62

Just upgraded to WP 2.7.1 tonight and Buddypress RC2, as far as I can see everything is working ok apart from the wire? I can’t post to my own or others?
Any ideas as to how to fix? I followed the installation/upgrade article to a tee.
I’m using a custom theme from for my profile past which is built upon the skeleton members theme.
Thanks
I’ve finally gotten the buddypress/facebook plugin to work on my site, but am still getting a couple of errors. I’ve read through all of the 120 or so entries in the BP-FB forum topic, but haven’t found a solution yet.
1) The plugin works, but when a user clicks on the FB button and enters their information, an error message pops up at the top of the screen. (I am using a plugin that takes logged in members directly to their profile; not sure if this is causing a conflict).
Error message is: Warning: fopen(http://api.new.facebook.com/restserver.php) [function.fopen]: failed to open stream: Operation not permitted in /mysite/wp-content/plugins/bp-fbconnect/wp-facebookconnect/facebook-client/facebookapi_php5_restlib.php on line 1939
2) In the Dashboard, when I click on the users list, I see this error:
“Warning: Missing argument 5 for fbc_get_avatar()”
Again, the plugin works, but why am I getting this error…what argument is missing?
3) On testbp.org, my full name comes over to BP. On my site it comes over as Facebook User. And my FB profile is public.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Hi guys,
Is it possible to add another “Groups” section to my Buddypress like “Books” or something like that. I mean, i want something like “Groups” with exactly the same functions. I am not an expert but am familiar with HTML, CSS, PHP and that kinda stuff.
So, you think it is possible? If yes, Where from should i begin first?
Looking forward to see your answers.
Have a great day.
Bpfan,
You can install the same old standard WordPress theme if you’d like, but keep in mind that it won\’t have any functions that tap into BuddyPress at all. Yes they will work, exactly like they did before.
You upload and install them in the same place you’re used to, wp-content/themes/
Then they must be activated in the Site Admin->Themes area.
(Hope you don’t mind, I renamed your topic title so it doesn’t confuse “Member Themes” with “Themes for Members” haha!)
