ParticipantThanks appreciate that! I have output, however I have it on all pages on the members area, when I only want on the BuddyPress pages. Is there a conditional I can wrap the wpnavmenu function in page.php that says only output this on buddypress pages?
Should i use is_page, write a switch to list through all the pages for buddypress or is there something better?
Thanks again!

Participant@modemlooper – In Buddypics users can Favorit a photo in the photo page itself as well as in the Activity stream. If you Favorit in any of these two places it is updated in the other.
If you unfavorite in one place it is updated in the other too. This is how it should work, and it does work in that way. Members remain eternally confused what they can do on the photo page, why they cannot do it on the blog post page.
buddypress-like do not have this 2-way liking.
Thanks 🙂

ParticipantHello,
I meant CPT (custom posts type).
I would like to merge a personnal CPT,
( archive: http://www.mydomain.com/shops/ and single : /shops/shop01 )
with buddypress groups in order to keep the same template (from this CPT) and having an activity stream and members management for this custom post. For the moment just I tried to add group’s activity stream to a different post (buddypress group and CPT post are distinct). I’m wondering if there is a way to make it simplier and less redondant?

ParticipantOK that didn’t work. I didn’t realize the theme directory is legacy stuff.
Instead I copied this file:
/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-templates/bp-legacy/js/buddypress.js
to
/wp-content/themes/magazine-pro/js/buddypress.js
and made the edits and it seems to work. Thanks for the help. I never would have guessed it.

ParticipantHugo,
Thanks for the info. Just to make sure I understand exactly what I need to do,
I need to make a copy of this file:
/buddypress/bp-themes/bp-default/_inc/global.js
And copy it to my theme directory
as:
/wp-content/themes/magazine-pro/_inc/global.jsAnd then edit theme copy of the global.js file and change the height parms to to what I need.
Does that sound right?

ModeratorSending mail is never easy when it comes to localhost. There are some solutions around the web, but they’re often quite technical and hard to implement.
I’m sure a lot of developers create and activate their dummy users via the back-end manually. There’s also plugins that can help. Check out BuddyPress Default Data. It will create lots of users for you.

Participant@henrywright Thank you for your answer.
I tried to test what I had on 1&1 and registration works. It confirmed that MAMP is the one causing the problem.
I think I found where the problem is : it’s all about emails. The email that should be sent for activation can’t be sent so nothing happens and the registration fails.
MAMP (and other web hosts) doesn’t support sending email. I tried to find a solution to it with no luck until now :
– first, by getting MAMP Pro free trial, where you’re supposed to be able to configure PostFix to be able to send emails but I couldn’t figure out how to set it up properly and couldn’t find anything useful on the internet to do so. This http://blog-en.mamp.info/2009/09/how-to-sending-emails-with-mamp-pro.html did NOT help. If anyone knows how to make that work I’d love to see how.
– Then I tried that http://www.wpbeginner.com/plugins/how-to-receive-wordpress-emails-from-localhost/, and I do receive the test email, but it doesn’t fix my BuddyPress problem.I am not sure how to work on BuddyPress without being able to register a user.
An example of what I’m working on : I want to add a long form in a tab in people’s profile page, which then generates a graphic element, a map (that will be part of their profile).I could either :
– bypass the code that is used to send the email for activation and activate the users manually as an admin.
– go to the database and enter the new user manually.
I’ll try to bypass the sending of the email first. Please let me know if there is an easier way to work on what I intend to program.
Also, if anyone knows how to set up MAMP to support sending emails, I’m interested !

ParticipantI think I got it working although I didn’t quite get the result I expected based on the name “profile visibility”. I expected to see settings like “show my profile to group everyone/members/friends/logged in users”, “show me in the directory”, etc.
Instead the page that loaded shows the various Profile Fields and allows the use to toggle the visibility of each field. This seems very similar to the controls available when the user when editing their profile (where they can set these same visibility settings).
This file: …themes/ibuddy/buddypress/members/single/settings.php
was missing this

ParticipantYep…that is not possible, believe me i have tried for a while.
Danbp’s is the only reasonable workaround.
@svenl77, Buddyforms looks interesting, but is priced out of my range for a non-professional developer.
@randomgirl, you can see on earlier post that buddyblog does what you want, exactly that, posts show up on profile page, but it sounds like you have little experience with both Buddypress and WordPress and Buddyblog requires multisite, not an easy task.March 8, 2015 at 7:59 pm #235684In reply to: Best Way For Member's To Add Blog Posts To Profile

ParticipantHi @shanebp
First of all, thank’s a lot for your fast answer. Now I have understood a lot of thinghs, but I have only two little questions more:
1. The solution using ACTIVITY.PHP, listing in the following topic , let administrator introduce comment from ADMINISTRATION PAGE (DASHBOARD)? Or neither user and administrator will can to do comments in the groups?
2. If I create a CHILD THEME, where I must introduce the file ACTIVITY.PHP ?
Maybe, I need create the followings folders GROUPS/SINGLE into the folder ENFOLD-CHILD? And introduce there ACTIVITY.PHP file into SINGLE folder? Is it so?
I am not informatic and I don’t undestand very well what I need to do.
Thank’s very very much for your answer.March 8, 2015 at 10:14 am #235635In reply to: Activate the community

ParticipantI have installed WordPress, but I don’t know if it is necessary to create a file for buddypress. I have installed bbpress and I have to create a file ‘bb-config.php’. Do I need other file (bp-config.php) for buddypress? Can you explain to me, please? Thanks.

ParticipantSince 1.7, BuddyPress can be used with almost any correctly coded theme.
How to customize BuddyPress needs a child-theme. From here you can add modification to BP templates or code. No matter the theme: Enfold, Twenty something or any other one.
How it works is explained here.
