What does ‘favorite’ mean here: To ‘favorite’ the activity? Or to ‘favorite’ the subject (author) of that activity?

What is within BuddyPress the difference between ‘friends’ and ‘favorites’?

As of BuddyPress 1.7, you no longer need to make a child theme of bp-default to make your changes.

I’m looking to do a similar thing and I’m looking in the codex and I noticed that in my Buddypress plugins folder there was no /plugins/buddypress/bp-languages, I am using a multisite install, does this change the process?

I can see the file in the original plugin folder I downloaded but it looks like it was removed when uploaded.

Only the ‘base’-group is currently displayed on the registration page. The other profile fields the user should fill in later (after registration). –

However, I would also prefer to place all field groups already within the registration page:

No, not without heavy core hacking. You have to find another solution for the edit part. Probably “near” profiles, but not “on” profiles.

@dhuntsha Just open up the file/s you made changes in and revert the changes. Then download zip file of BP 2.0.3 near the bottom of this page https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/2.0.3, unzip it, and upload the files to your server via s/FTP.

I only added the, “wp_enqueue….” line and went to update the file and now nothing works. The entire site won’t load, and I can’t login to wordpress.

Yea, same thing happened to me.

Salutation is pointing the finger at v.2.1:
“I just updated my Salutation sandbox with v2.1 of BuddyPress and I can confirm that it is the BuddyPress plugin update that is conflicting with the Salutation theme, causing a JavaScript error. That error will most likely break various features that depend on JavaScript, among them the slideshow and the navigation menu drop-down menus; tabs and toggles also tend to break when there’s a JavaScript error on the page.”

I downloaded the above zip file, went to my control panel/files/…content/plugins/buddypress, added the suffix ‘old’ to the existing buddypress file and then uploaded the v.2.0.3 zipfile and activated. Everything back to normal.

Hi, I’m using “Salutation” and after the 2.1 buddypress update my menus and slide shows do not work, and in collabpress you cannot create new projects.

I downloaded the 2.0.3 buddypress zip, how do I load it?

bp-default is on the way to be removed from BP to became a independant theme…. No idea how and when, but if you want that issue be solved, thought you have to open a ticket on Trac.

BP Default Theme – moving forward with BP 1.9

Concerning any child-theme user:

BP 2.1 use CSS minifying, so if you use a buddypress.css file within your child, you have to rename this file buddypress.min.css or better, you minify really that file (eg. online tinyfier)

By doing so, you’ll prevent some site parts to be incorrectly displayed. And perhaps help some scripts to run the right way after 2.1 update.

On the topic of media, I wanted to point some attention to BuddyDev, so everyone who is interested in a BuddyPress media plugin can support his MediaPress efforts.

I’ve used every media plugin I could get my hands on and it currently boils down to two;

1. RT Media: (+) A lot of great features, mostly free, support for free version. (-)Very buggy, interferers with other plugins, caused site wide performance issues (for me).
2. BP Gallery (+) Simple, easy. (-) Need to pay for it or get a membership. I found a small mobile upload bug.
(Kinda 3). BP Album: No longer supported and it’s Googlecode page ironically is missing all it’s media.

So, a third option I’m sure would be widely appreciated. He’s saying it will always be free and hook into current WordPress media functionality, so I’m excited! Here’s the link for those interested, http://buddydev.com/mediapress/

A few problems with BuddyPress 2.1 also, pagination on activity items had some problems.

I’ve reverted back until I can afford more time to the latest.

I think this might be a bug with the new BuddyPress 2.1. I’ve been experiencing the same problem since the update and it seems to occur randomly.

I’ve tested it across multiple profiles and on different computer and it’s hit or miss. I’m running WordPress 4.0, the default 2014 theme, and BuddyPress 2.1.

looks as progress like @mentions were forgotten to get ported back to good ol’ bp-default.

In bp-activity/js/mentions.js you’ll find on what elements @mentions should work:

Here’s how to get @mentions working for bp-default theme:
