    @barney92 your photo makes you look like a dancing hotdog…wait…

    Is it really acceptable to come on here and use abusive, offensive slurs like that? Using the word ‘retard’ is completely inappropriate.

    Anyway, this is a support forum, and I am asking for support. Most people are happy to help.

    I am still learning Buddypress so this is a great place to develop. I contribute regularly to WordPress forums and Stack Exchange to help others.

    I have created the buddypress sidebar in the themes settings.

    @queertownabbey
    per layout of all your BuddyPress pages, the default page.php layout is full-width. Since we don’t have access to the premium theme, will refer you to examples of we’ve added sidebars to pages which are full-width by default at https://codex.buddypress.org/themes/bp-theme-compatibility-and-the-wordpress-default-themes/ specifically with the Twenty Eleven theme

    Hello Mercime,

    I apologize for the confusion, Yes I meant the “BP Template Pack” and I have deactivated it, removed it and deleted the folders in subject as outlined in the BuddyPress help page.

    However the meta buttons and page numbers are still showing up vertically instead or horizontally. But when I click on “Load more” buttons the rest of the activity page and buttons show up correctly.

    Please advise,
    Thanks for your help

    bp_core_avatar_handle_upload()

    but it’s part of a larger sequence of functions and may not work properly on it’s own.

    look through plugins/buddypress/bp-core/bp-core-avatars.php

    I previously had the “BP Compatibility Pack” without knowing that I didn’t actually need it for the new BP version. Could that plugin have cause the issue at hand?

    If you mean the BP Template Pack, then yes, you don’t need it. I would delete that from the plugins page. If you already ran the BP Template Pack with your theme activated, then remove the BuddyPress folders which might have been moved to your current theme in server namely: /activity, /blogs, /forums, /groups, /members, and /registration

    I have the same issue. i’m using Response 2.0 Theme by Cyberchimps and have the following plugins the same as brinkin:

    BuddyPress Follow
    bbPress – Report Content

    i deactivated them both but it didnt fix the problem

    @abses91 the platform theme has a proprietary templating system which could have caused that issue. You’d need a simple buddypress.php file in your site’s theme folder which includes the HTML structure you want for all your BuddyPress pages along with WP loop with wp_title and wp_content. On another note, wasn’t there a plugin to bridge the platform theme with BP? Have you tried checking out or posting at the platform theme’s forums to see if others have experienced the same issue and if they have resolved it?

    P.S. RE plugin bridge – that was for another theme.

    BuddyPress has been deactivated in your site. Could just be a theme conflict. Next time, check BP with on of WP default themes.

    @learningeveryday from what I gather from your original post, you want a way for members to publish a blog post from their profile pages, right? Check out http://buddydev.com/buddypress/introducing-buddyblog-allow-users-to-blog-from-their-buddypress-profile/

    @wkolcz You created a child theme of what parent theme? Have you checked out https://codex.buddypress.org/themes/theme-compatibility-1-7/a-quick-look-at-1-7-theme-compatibility/ ?

    @ofloveandbeauty Don’t you need Genesis Connect for BuddyPress plugin anymore for your StudioPress theme? Have you checked out StudioPress forums if others have resolved the same issue?

    Hey @jetlej.

    On WordPress multisite, Super Administrators can edit/see/delete anything they want to. It’s their site, after all, so they are free to police it.

    On WordPress single site, all Administrators have the same privileges as above.

    We have been slowly rolling in the concept of moderator capabilities into BuddyPress for the past few years, though it’s not quite in a place yet where it’s been fully audited and integrated to be able to add/remove explicit permissions.

    It’s not ideal for everyone, but it works well for most. Can you explain more about your setup and how this is an issue?

    If you say you tried Twenty Fourteen and BuddyPress 1.9 is not working, then it’s possible there is a plugin conflict somewhere.

    This is probably related to this ticket:
    https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/5021

    Can you list the plugins you are using that affect page content? Anything that tries to inject or modify the page content.

    Thesis probably has an unusual method for displaying page content. Atahualpa, another theme, suffers from the same issue.

    Since Thesis is a paid theme, I do not have access to see how their templates are set up.

    Hi, thank you for your reply!

    Yes poEdit generate the file correctly. I´ve also tried the plugin localization. I don´t use any Umlaut or sz. I use my own language-file because I use other terms for groups etc.

    buddypress plural:
    Viewing member %1$s to %2$s (of %3$s active members)

    german translation:
    Mitglieder %1$s bis %2$s (von insgesamt %3$s aktiven Mitgliedern)

    Hallo @marmuel,

    what theme do you use ?
    Does poEdit generate correctly the.mo file ?
    Is the .mo file in the right folder ? (wp-content/languages/buddypress-de_DE.mo)
    Are you using some special characters like umlaut, sz, usw ?

    The string contains a plural form, so it could be possible you omit one ?

    %1$s bis %2$s (von insgesamt %3$s aktiven Mitglieder)

    I don’t see any such problem with my bbPress forums right now, however i had to revert to an earlier version of BuddyPress in order to make the site work, so i no longer have the problem on my site. Did you have the latest version of BuddyPress installed when you had this problem?

    Hi,

    I have WP 3.6.1., BuddyPress 1.9.1., bbPress 2.5.2., Cubepoints 3.2.1. and CubePoints Buddypress Integration 1.9.8.9..
    I want to display the avatars in the CubePoint Top Users Widget.
    I tried many found solutions on several forums, just to mention some of them:
    1) adding code to cp_hooks.php
    $y[‘avatar’] = get_avatar($user->ID,$size = ’30’);
    $string = str_replace(‘%avatar%’, $y[‘avatar’], $string);
    And add %avatar% in the text field of the widget. Empty Avatars appears of the top users while they all have avatars uploaded in their profile.
    2) I tried the solution of r-a-y
    Added functions.php to the template/default folder of bbPress. But it is still not working (settings>discussions is well set up). BUT I noticed that all avatars have a path like /wp-content/uploads/avatars/#/’. $author_id. Between /avatars/ and the author_id there is a number that is different from one member to another. How can I adadpt the path to fit it?
    3) I mixed solution 1 with bp code and added in cp_hooks.php
    $y[‘avatar’] = get_avatar( bbp_get_current_user_id(), ’30’ );
    This display of course the same avatar for all top users in the widget, naimly the avatar of the logged in user.
    4) is a mixed of 1) and r-a-y solution
    added in cp_hooks.php $y[‘avatar’] = get_avatar(bb_bp_avatar($user->ID), ’30’ );
    and added functions.php to the my-template folder of bbPress, but it is not working.

    Anny help appreciated.
    T.

    I completely deleted the whole database and FTP server space, and re-installed WordPress and BuddyPress, and then the problem was gone.

    That indicates it is either your database or your FTP server space that is causing the problem. You’ll need to determine where exactly the problem is coming from by a process of elimination.

    The next step I’d take is to use a brand new database with your FTP server space. If the problem persists then you’ll know the problem lies with your FTP server space. If the problem resolves then you’ll know it is your database causing the problem.

    My guess is that it’ll be your files and not your database where the problem lies.

    Sorry, but updating permalinks didn’t work. I also tried changing the theme to Twenty Eleven and remove my child theme files completely, still no dice. Then i downloaded a guaranteed BuddyPress compatible theme “X2” but the problem persisted.

    Then i got stubborn.

    I started to remove plugins one by one, making sure to revert the settings in each one to default before deactivating and deleting. Finally i had only BuddyPress, and the problem.

    So i got angry.

    I checked .htaccess and wp_config.php and made sure they where at their default settings, and i removed every folder and file from the wp_content area that wasn’t needed. The only thing i didn’t manage to remove was the problem.

    So i got furious!

    I completely deleted the whole database and FTP server space, and re-installed WordPress and BuddyPress, and then the problem was gone.

    The only problem is, i’ve spent more then 6 months building my site, making all the plugins get along with each other, and so on, starting from scratch is simply not on the table. So i got my site restored from a backup, and tried again to update BuddyPress, and the problem came back of course.

    I need to make my current installment work, and i get the feeling that the problem is somewhere in the database, what do you think?
