@mercime
ParticipantWhat BuddyPress version are you using?
Neither shows well the header of the page.
Just to be clear. What do you mean by “header” of the page? The area where the site name/logo shows up? First time I’ve heard that BP caused some issue with the header of the page. Screenshots or better yet, site URL with throw-away username/password.
The thumbnails are very large users in the forums and in the membership widget thumbnails are shown in column
Looks like the BuddyPress stylesheet is not being enqueued. Your theme should have
<?php wp_head(); ?>just before closing</head>in header.php file. Check if it does.June 4, 2013 at 8:53 am #165344In reply to: Automatic pages creation does not work
@mercime
Participanti installed WordPress 3.5.1 with Buddypress plugin 1.6.5
@eraz0r Question is, why are you installing an old BP version when BP 1.7.2 is available for download?The installation wizard seem to link the pages like this wordpress\activity
Is your WP/BP installed in subdirectory, i.e. example.com/wordpress/? Deactivate all plugins except BuddyPress and Use the BP Default theme after you activate BP and go through the Installation Wizard (which has been removed/deprecated in BP 1.7 above)

@mercime
Participant@rkcorp The theme looks great.
While awaiting theme review (up to 4 weeks), please make sure that your theme meets the WordPress Theme Review guidelines. Scanned source code at themes trac and there are issues which need to be be addressed. e.g. scripts and styles in <head> for one.
The following information should be of assistance in getting your theme to meet all the criteria:
* Theme Review – https://codex.wordpress.org/Theme_Review
* Theme Unit Checklist – https://codex.wordpress.org/Theme_Unit_Test
* Theme Development – https://codex.wordpress.org/Theme_Development
* Theme-Check Plugin – https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/theme-check/
* Debogger Plugin – https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/debogger/After you’ve updated your theme to meet WP Theme Review guidelines, you’ll just need to upload a new version of the theme. You’ll still retain your place in the theme review queue.

ParticipantMerci … A few moments ago, I logged onto another laptop into the site. I started checking some buddypress media settings and went to save and the save button was gone, again!
So, last night I hadn’t narrowed anything down, as I turned off a dozen or so in steps then back on, which gave me back my save button.
Today, i went through one by one with no joy. I had two updates sitting in the queue: one for BP groups extras plugin I believe, and the other for buddypress media. I did the updates and refreshed a screen I was using to test and the save button came back.
Verdict: Not certain, but a few buddypress updates in the queue, likely one of them … needed to be done; if not both. You have been with BP longer I am sure, so you likely have more to go on. This was my experience for this one. Hope it helps someone down the road!
Thanks, merci.

ParticipantWP/BP versions? What theme are you using? What plugins are installed?
Have you done basic troubleshooting like deactivating all plugins except BuddyPress and changing to Twenty Twelve theme to see if issue is resolved?
June 4, 2013 at 1:39 am #165328In reply to: integrating BP
@mercime
ParticipantI am also not sure what you mean but change to Twenty Twelve theme.
I mean change to Twenty Twelve theme and deactivate all plugins except BuddyPress to check if issue is resolved in a default installation.
If issues are resolved with Twenty Twelve, then it’s not a BuddyPress issue but the Pagelines theme issue or the pagelines-buddypress issue compounded with the BP Template pack plugin (which is no longer used for WP theme compatibility since BP 1.7). In this case, please post at theme author’s forums for resolution.

@mercime
Participant@coachxo as ubernaut noted above, you can use BuddyPress in subdomain http://buddypress.example.com or in subdirectory http://www.example.com/buddypress but not in domain root like mybuddypresssite.com

Participanti dont can post here…
Do you mean you cannot post in yoo theme’s forums? They’re supposed to provide support for their premium themes and for BuddyPress http://www.yootheme.com/themes/documentation/customizing/integrate-buddypress though it looks like they haven’t updated the information. As mentioned above, BP doesn’t interfere with the layout of your site. We don’t have access to the premium theme. The best place to get assistance is in the theme’s forums.

ParticipantWhen I requested membership, it asked me to add a comment, rather than just returning the button disabled with “request sent”. … I also tried bp-default but that made no difference either.
@becskr per link I posted above, that’s the default behavior when membership request is done at the group’s page. And commenting is optional. Could it be that you’re missing the “Send Request” button. Glad you found another solution but it could very well be a JS conflict with another plugin or script.June 3, 2013 at 9:35 pm #165312Chase8705

You should always use a child theme instead of modifying the theme directly because if you update that theme then it will overwrite any modifications you made but if you made a child theme then the update will not effect modifications and all mods in the child theme will be preserved. Please see:

ParticipantI also have the same problem. Have you tried a older version from buddypress or courseware?
June 3, 2013 at 9:16 pm #165309Chase8705
ParticipantI am definitely not familiar with a child theme. What is a child theme and should I be using them? Thank you for your help.

Participantit probably wouldn’t be liked but i can’t speak for anyone else. i do know that there is a general sentiment that the “buddypress” name should be reserved for official stuff only.
June 3, 2013 at 2:32 pm #165297inge12
ParticipantIn searching for a solution to my problem of unwanted sidebars I found https://codex.buddypress.org/developer/theme-development/a-quick-look-at-1-7-theme-compatibility/ which provides instructions of how to insert BP specifications into a child theme.
To get the results you want, you need to first create a child theme for your main wordpress theme. Then you put the specifications that apply only to the BuddyPress portion of the site into the child theme. You would need to do this:
So if we want to remove the sidebar for BP pages but not for all WP ‘pages’ or call a specific BP sidebar get_sidebar(‘buddypress’), we could take a copy of page.php and rename it to ‘community.php.’ and have BP use this file for all it’s requirements, as can be seen from the order above the first two files will not be found but the third will be and therefore used.
And so will I – to solve my problem.
