You need to try using BP 1.7 and it’s theme compatibility, see how you get on letting BP handle injecting BP content into a theme rather than template packing.

However be warned if your theme departs significantly from WP conventions for templating then there might be issues still which will just have to be worked through.

You need to tracking this dev blog really if you want answers like that.

@dukesw I’d revert to 1.2 database backup first.
– Deactivate BuddyPress and change to WP default theme.
– Upgrade to WP 3.2.1 and BP 1.5
– Upgrade to WP 3.4.2 and BP 1.6
– Upgrade to latest WP and BP versions
– Then if you’d like to try out Theme Compat, upgrade to BP 1.7 RC 1

BuddyPress most likely will never solve everyone’s complex customization issues. I think the core team has done a fantastic job so far and there is going to be certain things you want in BP but it just isn’t a requirement for functionality of the software overall. That is were developers come into play. To extend the software above its core functions. If the core development team integrated every little change every user desired then they would struggle to release updates. I am grateful for all they have done and sometimes you gotta do a little work on your own to get the required result. Just my two cents worth!

@lostone84 No right sidebar code posted as the request was for full width with the BP Template Pack.

If you’re on test site, you should already download BP 1.7 RC 1 -> https://buddypress.org/2013/03/buddypress-1-7-release-candidate-1/ which has theme compatibility with most WordPress themes without BP Template Pack.

In other words, if the code in your theme’s page.php is up to par with WP standards and correct coding practices, then you’re good to go. The only way to find out is to test the theme first. I would deactivate BP Template Pack and delete the 6 BP folders transferred to your theme’s folder in server if you already went through Appearance > BP Compatibility process.
