Hello everybody,
I have a problem with the activation email of Buddypress. When someone create a account, he doesn’t receive the mail for activation. I’m sorry, because I know this question is used to be asked, but I’ve searched and didn’t find anything which can fixes the probleme.
I tried to desactivate plugins, and also to send an email with WP-Mail-SMTP, and it’s working well.
Anyone have an idea ? Because I feel a little desesperate 🙁

I’m receiving the following error when I attempt to upload to photo to one of the buddypress groups on my website http://www.peacefulparent.com I use bbpress, buddypress and S2member for my membership section of my site. WP Curve solve most of my wordpress issues and they got back to me recommending I contact Buddypress support saying:
“The issue is that buddypress is rejecting to upload and crop the picture properly and is throwing the following error net::ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED you need to contact the buddypress support so they can help you with this issue because is an issue with the plugin itself.”
It used to work fine. The pics I’m trying to upload are JPG files.
My website is http://www.peacefulparent.com and I’m using the most up to date wp version.
I was looking for something similar, only I want to put in a description on my registration page. Just a paragraph explaining a couple of things at the registration page. I can’t believe that this would be a plugin not a feature with buddypress. If this is operator error (which I think is most likely) then please tell me how to do this.

It wouldn’t be BuddyPress documentation you’d need, rather, WordPress documentation. Take a look at the articles on user meta, specifically look at the get_user_meta() and update_user_meta() functions.
The general idea would be to increment a user’s share count each time something is shared by that user.

buddypress/bp-templates/bp-legacy/buddypress

Hey @henrywright thanks for getting back to me. Yes I figured it would require custom coding. I have scoured the plugin directory for something close to this and could not find anything. If I were to develop a plugin like this can you point me to buddypress documentation that would be helpful to get started?
@mika909 – I do not think anyone at the buddypress forums is going to help you with this. When trying to get a particular plugin to work with BP it is best to read the instructions with that plugin ( wordpress . org/plugins/paid-memberships-pro/faq/ )
or ask in the support forums for said plugin ( https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/paid-memberships-pro )
Although the FAQ for this plugin links to the premium plugin site – which basically says figure it out on your own.. or register there free to get access to extra documentation, or pay $297 to get extra help and up to one hour of consultation / help in setting this plugin up.
This is really not a buddypress how to / troubleshooting thing. If there is a way to mark this thread as resolved you should do that.
Hi, I am new to Buddypress and after searching the forums I could not find the answer. Is there an easy way to keep a count of how many times a member shares your website content on social media.
For example, a member of my site shares an article I posted on Facebook, then in their statistics it would show they have shared 1 piece of content. Ideally this would work with any share button I include in the content. Does anything like this exist already or is it even possible?

Anyway, I had to do some coding and wrote that small function:

I found out that buddypress search uses s, letters and member_search as parameters, and send them to this url above, so why not to just send them via my form 🙂

‘s’ represent first name but that’s it, I can’t pass any other param except this one.. (they all been ignored ) do you have any idea how to pass also my ‘lname; value? to which param should I send it?

I would like that a non-registered customer arrives on the registration page when trying to access to restricted access pages and when he’s registered he accesses the memberships levels page when he tries to return to the restricted access pages as on the diagram below.

If you select “Discourage search engines from indexing this site” in WP – Settings – Readings then bbpress new topics and replies won’t be shown in Buddypress Activity.
just fyi – if selected, it will also prevent blog comments from showing up in the activity stream.

I run a 3d community called http://www.cgforum.dk, The frontpage is wordpress and the community part is made on the phpBB platform. We would love to migrate/convert to Buddypress, as it would make the site so much more ready for the future with all the nice features Buddypress and wordpress offers.
Do you have any links, or guides to how we could convert from phpBB to Buddypress?
We tried this weekend to convert it, using the plugin “ForumConverter” but with no luck, because the converter is not able to convert from the newest phpBB version (3.11) and we cant go back in versions..
So we really dont know what to do now.. Anyone have a clue how to move on to Buddypress from phpBB?

Please can anybody point me an existing plugin that can be used to extend the registration form on WordPress/BuddyPress website to allow the use of control “security questions” feature.
I want to add some questions to my registration form (page) either as part of the members registration page or as a top layer page before the registration page can be accessed such that;
1. My intending members must answer all questions (five in total) correctly.
2. The questions are to be in polls format with 2 or 3 options to choose from in a radio button.
3. If all questions are answered correctly, then membership form can be submitted successfully or access to the registration page is granted depending on the type of implementation and rejected if any of the questions is answered wrongly.
Any information or assistance would be appreciated.

@navinachettri this is not a BuddyPress issue and more like a theme issue. Please check if the issue is resolved if you change to the Twenty Fourteen theme. If it is, then do post at the theme author’s site.
@dshirac following are the only BP Widgets https://codex.buddypress.org/buddypress-components-and-features/buddypress-widgets/ Perhaps you mean a feature with another theme or plugin?
Sounds possible… probably have to hire on some custom coding help though. I am not aware of anything out of the box or plugin wise that will do searching by distance with zip codes.
The other stuff you mentioned can probably be pieced together with plugins from various places – may need some tweaks to get things to work as you describe – which will take some extra coding mercenary expenses I think.
I am not an expert on all the various plugins, and couldn’t begin to tell you how much coding help would be needed. You can create a buddypress site pretty cheap to play with it and then see how many modifications you would need to get what you are going after.
@yanner11 – did you disable all plugins and switch themes and see if buddypress works?
Not sure all the plugins you are using.. but sometimes disabling them all, then re-enabling them after enabling buddypress will fix things… but if you do not know if it is a plugin or theme thing – you are kind of flying blind.
I would do the disable as outlined above and see if it works without the theme, or maybe you will find that enabling plugins one by one there is a particular plugin that is causing the issue.
With some plugins in my experience after an update there may be the need to go to your permalinks settings, change permalinks to a different setup, save. Then change permalinks back to your original setup and save again.
In most if you run through these steps your issue will be resolved.

I’m trying to display all the Bp_activity together without any tabs.
Normally the buddypress activity only displays one object (just-me, friends, groups, favorites, mentions), what i would like is to display all together, and remove the Tabs.
I have tried to add some extra params to the query (bp_has_activities( bp_ajax_querystring())) but it is not working…
I’m wondering if I should create a custom method in bp-activity-functions.php or something like that.
Could somebody please help me with that?
deactivate all your plugins, switch to twenty twelve theme. reactivate buddypress pluing. Check if your groups work.
If so – then reactivate plugins one by one and see if it still works.
If it works with all your plugins and twenty twelve theme then it is your custom community theme.

My programmer doesn’t know how to fix it. I need a seasoned developer in wordpress and buddypress to figure this out. I need this fixed immediately as our training and whole livelihood of the business depends on the forums.
Issue: After updating to WordPress 4.0.1., groups and individual topics no longer works. When I click on a forum topic, it gives me an error “[an error occurred while processing this directive]” or an “http 500 internal server error”. ie. http://www.forexartofwar.com/groups/price-alert/. Please help. Everything was working fine before the update.
I have vaultpress and just learned that they did not back up WP core files. So I’m in a jam now. Can’t revert to what it was before.
I would like someone to either figure out why it’s generating the error and restore the buddypress functions 4.0.1. Otherwise, can we reinstall the previous version (I think it was 3.8.5.) and make it work for the time being? All the data is there. There just seems to be a conflict. This is a sound solution but I’m not skilled enough to do this and don’t want to cause more problems like bringing down the whole site.

I used a plugin called WordPress User Frontend Pro and their Buddypress addon. I also used this plugin to create new User Roles “Capability Manager Enhanced”

I just ionstalled BuddyPress on a Server without different Port and it works fine there.
So i guess that is what causing it.
What the bug is exactly, that i don’t know. but it has something to do with the port i think.
