I am glad that someone else has the same problem as I do. Again, I will ask what is the correct combination of Buddypress and courseware that will work. Obviously with so many downloads of both people are using it.

Also, since it is obvious that the issues I presented are not just on my box, what is the course of action of for getting the bugs fixed that are creating these issues?

I REALLY need to get these things resolved in some manner. I don’t care if that is installing a previous version of Buddypress and Courseware.

One of the options to change the site URL is to add:
update_option(‘siteurl’,’http://www.example.com’);
update_option(‘home’,’http://www.example.com’);
to functions.php file

I did this, but added to the core theme functions file.

I now have added this to functions.php in the Buddypress theme under plugins > bp-themes > bp-default and it works

issue: links to pages changed sitename to ‘named’ URL and, but links for buddypress data, eg users remains as numbers, 192.xxx.x.xxx URL, so not changed.

I changed the sitename in the wp-config.php file with:
define(‘WP_HOME’,’http://www.example.me/wordpress’);
define(‘WP_SITEURL’,’http://www.example.me/wordpress’);

checked the database, bb_meta and wp_options has the changed URL’http://www.example.me/wordpress

Looking further, on the settings > general page the fields have been greyed out, but only the Site Address (URL) has registered the change, the WordPress Address (URL) remains as the numbered IP and is not changed.

It looks like the issue is that the ‘define’ code in wp-config needs to change the WordPress Address (URL), but has not.

Let me re-create the scenario for the third time and provide you more details… here are the list of plugins and their versions…

BuddyPress 1.6.4 Activated
Collabpress 1.2.3. Activated
BuddyPress Default Theme 1.6.4 Activated

This time I tried something new… I simply deactivated the plugin… and opened the front-end. Got the white screen again. Without even deleting the plugin.

But when I re-Activated the plugin and refresed the page… the website came back again….

Now a 3 out of 3 times success rrate.

Unfortunately as that says nothing about the types of requests going to the Ajax file, it’s not very helpful.

Is your site using an object cache?

I’m not quite sure what an object cache is. If it helps, I am using CloudFare with my website.

How do I find out what requests are going to the Ajax file?

As for Ajax it is being used far too much, people don’t seem to get why it oughtn’t to be or when it’s even suitable to be used – people love gimmicks and that’s all Ajax is – even if I do like using it myself.

I have disabled WordPress’ autosave in posts too, which I think uses ajax. As far as I’m aware, I haven’t put any ajax on my website, so I’m assuming the ajax calls must be from the plugins.

I have not done anything yet. I have done an extensive search, but found nothing that will allow me to enable special characters in buddypress user registration

@chouf1 with your help and hnla’s I have this working but even with the above examples in how to get the counts in a drop down I am not certain how to do this. Where do I place:

In the code because it either fires off an error or it actually echo’s the code. What am I doing wrong? Thanks again for all your help! 🙂
