    Thanks Paul, will be waiting eagerly.

    Also, probably out of context; but can I receive notification when someone comments on a forum topic, as well as all who have commented in the thread?

    cheers, Rob

    i am also looking for the answer to this…. when comments are made to a forum topic i need to be notified as well as anyone else in the comment thread…… wouldn;t make sense to have to go back into the forum all the time to see if anyone made a comment….. or am I being ignorant?

    Hope someone can help.

    Very strange. The fact that you’re having problems with the email notification of blog comments shows that this is not a problem with BuddyPress, but is some combination of your server, WordPress, and possibly Yahoo Mail.

    Have you tried reading the problematic mail through another method? POP3 or IMAP? Or maybe the same email sent to another provider like Gmail? At least that could rule out the mail client.

    #108715

    Just tested and the comment notification emails have errors as well.

    I am using WPMU with BuddyPress.

    Emails and their status
    – Signup confirmation (error)
    – Password reset (ok)
    – Comment notification on blog posts (error)
    – Private messaging (ok)
    – User mentions ( @user) (ok)
    – Friend request (ok)

    Weird, I’ve never heard of this error before. Is it happening with other WP or BP emails? (Other WP emails include comment notification and password resets – give one of them a try)

    Problem is visible here: http://www.globalmeditationgroup[dot]com/groups/

    Platform 1.1.3 theme
    Wordpress 3.1
    Buddypress… whatever the newest version is, I installed it through wordpress… so I can’t imagine it would be in the wrong place.

    I haven’t done anything with multisite.

    Plugins:
    oh boy… here we go :)

    add new default avatar
    askimet
    all in one seo pack
    autochimp
    ban hammer
    bbpress integration
    bp group hierarchy
    bp xtra signup
    buddypress
    buddypress humanity
    comments cleaner
    dropdown menu widget
    feedburner feedsmith
    forum post notification
    google analytics for wordpress
    google xml sitemaps with multisite support
    gravatar signup encouragement
    login logger
    use google libraries
    user spam remover
    visitor maps and who’s online
    wordpress importer
    wp hide dashboard
    wp mail from

    Not sure what happened… any ideas would be most welcome! Thank you :)

    @linkyou, add this to your theme’s css:

    `
    /* Inherit the default theme styles */
    @import url( ../../plugins/buddypress/bp-themes/bp-default/_inc/css/default.css );

    /* Inherit the default theme adminbar styles */
    @import url( ../../plugins/buddypress/bp-themes/bp-default/_inc/css/adminbar.css );
    `

    And put this in your functions.php

    `// Load the AJAX functions for the theme
    require_once( TEMPLATEPATH . ‘/_inc/ajax.php’ );

    // Load the javascript for the theme
    wp_enqueue_script( ‘dtheme-ajax-js’, get_template_directory_uri() . ‘/_inc/global.js’, array( ‘jquery’ ) );

    // Add words that we need to use in JS to the end of the page so they can be translated and still used.
    $params = array(
    ‘my_favs’ => __( ‘My Favorites’, ‘buddypress’ ),
    ‘accepted’ => __( ‘Accepted’, ‘buddypress’ ),
    ‘rejected’ => __( ‘Rejected’, ‘buddypress’ ),
    ‘show_all_comments’ => __( ‘Show all comments for this thread’, ‘buddypress’ ),
    ‘show_all’ => __( ‘Show all’, ‘buddypress’ ),
    ‘comments’ => __( ‘comments’, ‘buddypress’ ),
    ‘close’ => __( ‘Close’, ‘buddypress’ ),
    ‘mention_explain’ => sprintf( __( “%s is a unique identifier for %s that you can type into any message on this site. %s will be sent a notification and a link to your message any time you use it.”, ‘buddypress’ ), ‘@’ . bp_get_displayed_user_username(), bp_get_user_firstname( bp_get_displayed_user_fullname() ), bp_get_user_firstname( bp_get_displayed_user_fullname() ) )
    );
    wp_localize_script( ‘dtheme-ajax-js’, ‘BP_DTheme’, $params );`

    Should put styles of the buddypress default theme into your theme. I would go into plugins/buddypress/bp-themes/bp-default/_inc/css/default.css and remove all the contents of:

    `/* > Global Elements

    */
    /* > Admin Bar

    */
    /* > Header

    */
    /* > Navigation

    */
    /* > Container

    */
    /* > Sidebar

    */
    /* > Content

    */`

    This BuddyPress Group email subscription plugin works great with the newest version of buddy press.
    Also why do we need group comments when there is a form ? How do I replaced the group comments with other page elements of that people can better explain their groups and even have links on their groups

    There is a plugin by Brajesh that is designed for Activity replies. Not sure if it works for forum replies. Download and try it. http://buddydev.com/plugins/buddypress-activity-comment-notifier/

    hi all,
    is there some way to enable email notification when a user is mentioned in any comments of a post ?
    Right now it only works when a user is mentioned on activity stream.

    @superfifi, you need to provide details on your question. You want to receive and email on a blog post comment, or a buddypress activity comment?

    @superfifi, are you talking about an activity comment in buddypress, or a blog post comment? Blog comments you should automatically get an email. For activity comments, If might be possible for that to be possible via plugin, but I do not know if it exists off the top of my head. You might want to go searching.

    i’d just want to see if everything is clean (no picture forbidden);

    I am not quite understanding what you are saying by that. :)

    Yes, /httpdocs/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-forums/bbpress and all the *.php files exist.

    I use the default buddypress theme. I don’t use any plugins besides buddypress. My httpdocs is chmod 777 for installation. BP has written the following into .htaccess:

    # BEGIN WordPress

    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /
    RewriteRule ^index.php$ – [L]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
    RewriteRule . /index.php [L]

    # END WordPress

    bb-config.php has the same config for database as wp-config.php.

    I have following tables in my db.

    Hi Paul,

    I just tried this fix, but it didn’t work: http://premium.wpmudev.org/forums/topic/ie8-compatibility-mode.

    Below is a list of my active plugins. But I’m not sure if it’s a plugin issue because the cropping works in Firefox. Is it an IE8 compatibilty issue? If so, how can I get around it?

    Here are my active plugins:
    * Advanced Permalinks
    * AJAX Login Widget++
    * BP-NotificationWidget
    * BP Disable Activation
    * BP Hide Widgets
    * BP Member Filter
    * BuddyPress
    * BuddyPress Album+
    * Buddypress Widget Pack
    * Capability Manager
    * Dean’s Permalinks Migration
    * Enhanced BuddyPress Widgets
    * Fast Secure Contact Form
    * Fluency Admin
    * IE7 Compatibility
    * Invite Anyone
    * Media Library Gallery
    * My Comments Manager
    * NextGEN Gallery
    * NextGEN Gallery Sidebar Widget
    * Nicer permalinks for Vietnamese
    * oEmbed for BuddyPress
    * ourSTATS Widget
    * Peter’s Login Redirect
    * Plugin Central
    * SI CAPTCHA Anti-Spam
    * Simple Trackback Validation
    * TDLC Birthdays
    * Theme Switcher Reloaded
    * Top 10
    * Transposh Translation Filter
    * User Permissions
    * Visitor Maps and Who’s Online

    @rgauny + @rogercoathup:

    Like Rich said, @mentions- are basically a filter and a nav item.
    It should be possible to remove the filter and the nav item by doing the following:

    1) Removing the filter

    Add the following to your theme’s functions.php:

    `
    // removes @mention links in updates, forum posts, etc.
    remove_filter( ‘bp_activity_new_update_content’, ‘bp_activity_at_name_filter’ );
    remove_filter( ‘groups_activity_new_update_content’, ‘bp_activity_at_name_filter’ );
    remove_filter( ‘pre_comment_content’, ‘bp_activity_at_name_filter’ );
    remove_filter( ‘group_forum_topic_text_before_save’, ‘bp_activity_at_name_filter’ );
    remove_filter( ‘group_forum_post_text_before_save’, ‘bp_activity_at_name_filter’ );
    remove_filter( ‘bp_activity_comment_content’, ‘bp_activity_at_name_filter’ );

    // remove @mention email notifications
    remove_action( ‘bp_activity_posted_update’, ‘bp_activity_at_message_notification’, 10, 3 );
    remove_action( ‘bp_groups_posted_update’, ‘groups_at_message_notification’, 10, 4 );
    `

    2) Removing the subnav:

    Add the following to your theme’s functions.php:

    `function ray_remove_mention_nav() {
    global $bp;

    bp_core_remove_subnav_item( $bp->activity->slug, ‘mentions’ );
    }
    add_action( ‘init’, ‘ray_remove_mention_nav’ );`

    Then, copy over /bp-default/activity/index.php to your child theme and remove the hardcoded li#activity-mentions from /activity/index.php.

    Et voila! @mentions- are gone!

    Might turn this into a plugin if requested.

    *Edit: Also need to remove the table row on the “Settings > Notifications” page. This can be done by removing and duplicating the existing bp_activity_screen_notification_settings() function (located in /buddypress/bp-activity.php) hooked to the “bp_notification_settings” action.

    I’ve never seen a plugin that can do this. This plugin hooks onto the comment action: https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/subscribe-to-comments/ So, it might be a good place to start to write a new plugin.

    Would it still take posts and comments notifications that are made on the profiles and activities made from the first blog and transfer it to the second blog where buddypress lays?

    first I think that other may have the same problem. as I did not found it I posted it. As it only happens if the user is logged in, there is nothing what I can show.

    The description is clearly. The whole menu structure of the buddypress is below the footer. here the menu list:

    Really seems easy to reproduce…all any member of a hidden or private group needs to do is post a forum thread, update, and/or comment and walah! The activity appears in the public activity stream. At one point it was showing up in CommentLuv links outside of the main domain all together, which leads me to believe it is an RSS failure. Is this how the mail notifications are tickled? RSS? Activity stream as well?

    @commentluv I’ve noticed with BP Followers that if you follow someone and then unfollow them before they clcik on the notification about the following that I get reverted back to the homepage. I expect this is because when the ‘follow’ is ‘unfollowed’ the template for the section that records the followers is removed therefore there is nothing to show. This results in a permanent notification that you can’t get rid of unless you go into the database.

    Not sure if it has anything to do with the things you are experiencing?

    “–notification when using @mention in wordpress side (blog, comments, etc.)”

    @intimez i’d imagine easy to set that up – just reuse the notification/atmention functions and hook it into wp. – the comments already hook add_filter( ‘pre_comment_content’, ‘bp_activity_at_name_filter’ );

    please add for topic
    –notification when using @mention in wordpress side (blog, comments, etc.)
    –wordpress type moderation in buddypress (blacklist, admin must approve, author previously approve, etc.)
    –buddypress import/export backup
