ParticipantAn example of a Group Activity feed can be seen at http://naastriclub.com/groups/nutrition-advice/
This is a sample topic within the Group Forum http://naastriclub.com/forums/topic/pre-race-carb-fueling/ and a number of replies to the topic can be viewed there. It is these replies that I wish to have appear on the Activity Stream so they are not missed by visitors.

@falera please start your own topic next time πRe compatibility with WpGroupBuy Theme: Not sure. Best place to ask if BuddyPress is supported is at that theme’s forums.

ParticipantHi @wiste,
If you use this code, then it’s no longer possible to display the old home (activities) tab.
Also, if I visit a group on your website you no longer default to the forum tab:
http://www.makeloops.com/groups/amigurumi-designers/Is it possible to still display the home tab, but to load another tab (eg. forum) as a default?

ParticipantHi Domi,
rtMedia and its PRO version do come with a lot of functionality built within. I would suggest the following steps to get through:
1. Try rtMedia basic version and check how many of your problems get solved.
2. You can try ffmpeg add-on (https://rtcamp.com/store/rtmedia-ffmpeg/) which will convert audio/video on your server itself and also you use CDN to server it.
3. You can get in touch with rtCamp (who have developed and are continuously working on rtMedia, rtMedia PRO and other media add-ons) through the support forum (https://rtcamp.com/support/forum/rtmedia/) for the proper solution πThanks,

Participantfor one site, i just used bp-default directly because i figured it would always be there and would always work.
but i did find this:
If you are already using bp-default, either directly or as a parent theme, donβt worry.
at the link you recommended…
right now, i am less interested in making buddypress look and feel the way i want it to — than in just using wordpress community software that actually works.
with BuddyPress, over the years, i noticed that the best strategy is just to leave it alone and not try to do anything with it, because then it’s just going to break in unforseen ways — and not even “configuration,” but just implementation can and will be riddled with errors and problems and headaches.
so, for one site, yes, i used a child theme, but for the site in question, i didn’t. i just figured some form of “buddypress default” would always be there — and it would always work.
if “it” changed, i would just configure it — but i would not need to dig around and search for errors and fix things and ask at the forum and have peoples’ emotions flare just cuz i am interested in having the software work — etc.
i also figured it would be a theme buddypress would always maintain and upgrade — and improve. for example, have you ever seen the activity stream in twentytwelve? while there may be classier activity streams around — for 2012 — it was easily one of the nicest looking activity streams available. so — i figured buddypress would notice that — and just continuously improve whatever the “buddypress default” theme was…
i “might” make a child theme now — but i have now looked around at some commercial themes — so maybe i’ll buy one of those.
really — it is about immediate functionality and convenience. it needs to work, first and foremost, and it needs to “look good” as well (but it needs to actually work — first).
anyway — what this development at BuddyPress did — is it sent me searching for a commercial theme to upgrade to. not sure if that was the intended result, but it’s what it did in my case.
best and blessings and thanks for all the work you do, let us know if you ever plan on releasing a kind of “default theme” in the future ok?
sincerely,

ParticipantHow it happens is not much of my concern, I do feel however that the Buddypress core crew should work with the people they feel comfortable with.
An image insert would be one of the important next steps to improve Buddypress, I used RTMedia during my development but found it bulky, now I use BP-Albums and that does an almost perfect job, in combination with the attachments plugin.
A post like system is also high on the list, same goes for an extended profile page, and the list is long.
I understand that plugins can/should do a lot of this paraphernalia and focus needs to be on the core functions of Buddy/BB/Wordpress so these plugins can become more effective and create less pageload.
But inline images would be on top of my list to see as a core function.
Anyway, I will keep watching these topics closely.

@karlajw which updates – BP. WP. Canvas theme, and/or other plugins? When did you start using the Canvas theme? Last time I saw the theme mentioned in this forum (last year), it was not compatible with BuddyPress. Participant@bp-help … thank you for the code snips but can you clarify the last remove action is correct … e.g.,
remove_action( 'groups_action_group_feed', 'groups_action_group_feed',3 );shouldn’t this be use the bp_actions thus instead be this –remove_action( 'bp_actions', 'groups_action_group_feed',3 );..??..also, i noticed that with respect to bbPress, the topics and contents show in the feed – e.g., site.com/forums/feed/ shows the feed titles with some content (maybe excerpt or maybe full text not sure as my test site only has one liners) …
accordingly, how can we hide the forum feeds … e.g., i thought maybe adding lines like this might work but they did not –
remove_action( 'bp_actions', 'bbp_display_topics_feed_rss2',3 ); remove_action( 'bp_actions', 'bbp_display_replies_feed_rss2()',3 );thanks in advance for any pointers you can share – especially with blocking bbPress Forum Topic contents – site.com/forums/feed/ … cordially, chuck scott

ParticipantSo, I’ve been combing these forums for weeks for a very similar problem, and being that this is the closest solution post, I thought I would ask here, extending the support for this problem.
I would like to redirect users during login in the following manner:
If logging in from the front page (site, not user): redirect to user profile
If logging in from anywhere else: redirect to original url (where original url is the url where the login process was initiated)Currently I am forced to run the following for backwards compatibility reasons:
WP: 3.7.3
php: 5.3.10
bbPress: 2.5.3
BuddyPress: 1.9.2 +5 complimentary pluginsActive Plugins
45+ with the most relevant being:
BadgeOS: 1.3.5 +4 complimentary plugins
Bowe Codes: 2.1
BP My Home: 2.0
BP RedirecttoProfileforBuddypress: 1.2
BP Simple Front End Post: 1.1.4
BuddyBlog: 1.0.4I’ve tried to edit the redirect plugin mentioned often here as well as with no luck.
Here is a sample of one of my latest attempts (a modification on redirect to profile plugin):
add_filter("login_redirect","bpme_redirect_to_profile",100,3); function bpme_redirect_to_profile( $redirect_to_calculated, $redirect_url_specified, $user ){ /* if no redirect was specified,let us think we want the current page */ if( empty( $redirect_to_calculated ) ) $redirect_to_calculated=$redirect_url_specified; /* if the user is site admin or not and it's the front page,redirect to his/her profile */ if( is_super_admin( $user->ID ) && is_front_page() ) return bp_core_get_user_domain( $user->ID ) . 'profile/'; if( !is_super_admin( $user->ID ) && is_front_page() ) return bp_core_get_user_domain( $user->ID ) . 'profile/'; else return $redirect_to_calculated; /*if site admin or not logged in,do not do anything much*/ }(I recognize that the admin user check is redundant, that was part of some debugging I was doing)
I find that every time I try to check for the front page, something happens to interrupt the redirect process. Without a check for front page: Working great! With the check for front page: No Bueno! I’ve been using several debugging plugins and if I understand them correctly, most of the issue has to do with the sidebar login location (it seems to ignore wp_login and login_redirect hooks/filters) and checking for the front page.
I tried many other plugins and most of the code (with minor adjustments for my needs) that was offered on the forums here, including the Ajax one, but most of our login process is done through the sidebar and they just don’t ever get called or triggered during the sidebar login process.
I would love some advice on how to adjust what I have and get it working properly.
Your help is appreciated, thanks!

ParticipantHi, I am interested in this, as I also seem to have a blank activity page.
When you say “reset” are you referring to clearing History and cache?I am testing both, BB and BP together, to try and get a frontend discussion forum system for my Trustees, all of them fairly elderly, so I need a system that is
a) works in the front-end of the WP site
b) is easy to use and requires minimal trainingI tried simpler systems, like WPBB, and ForumPress, but neither is supported any longer.
Many thanks.

Participant@frisch11 I have the same problem today! Can you tell me what you deleted? I removed the BP plugin, deleted all tables in the DB related to wp_bp and also wp_bb (forums). Removed the avatar folder in uploads for images but I still have the same problem ;(
My problem is 100% the same as yours. Everything is set, upload and crop works fine but the image isn’t included in the HTML to appear.

ModeratorHi @paton400
This works great, but it also allows these user roles to read through other users private messages, change avatars, settings etc
If this applies to non-admin users such as contributors or subscribers, then this is a mighty big flaw. If that is happening due to the plugin then I’d expect the plugin author will want to know about it. Try raising the issue with them as a bug report or mentioning it in their support forum.

ParticipantHi Again,
I solved this by recreating each group using the info in the group forums listing, and by choosing not to create a forum for the group. After creating the new group, I went to Groups in the admin panel, selected the new group for editing, checked the ‘I want a forum for this group’ box, and chose my already existing forum group and associated it with the ‘new’ group. Glad I didn’t have a lot of groups(!) Also necessary, is to re-invite your members to re-join the groups. It seems all this could have been avoided by having more users than just myself as admins for the groups. Live and learn. I hope this helps someone, and if this isn’t in the documentation, I sincerely hope you will add it, along with a warning when someone is about to delete a user who is the creator and only admin of a group. Would be nice if you could be prompted to reassign the groups to another user, as is offered with posts.
Thanks.
Kind Regards,
Sura

ParticipantAre you aware about css styling ?
The css goes into your theme style.css, not in the core file. Please read a little the codex before asking for such basic things !
Read about child-theme and buddypress customization. On BP’s codex and WP codex too.
You can also learn a lot by only reading topics on this forum.June 14, 2014 at 11:48 am #184046In reply to: [Resolved] Hide BP Search Bar

ParticipantHi Danbp,
I managed the first part no problem, but to so much with the second.
I just pasted the following into each of the index.php folders in bp-templates/bp-legacy/buddypress/(activity, blogs, forums, groups and members)
#activity-all span, #members-all span{ display:none; }Nothing seems to have happened. The counter still appears and displays zero.

ParticipantIn your first topic you asked: It is possible to turn off this notification?
Yes it is, and the solution is in the first link. The other link is given as reference to the code, who is in a core file. Such core files should never been modified directly.
You need to study a bit WP and BP codex to understand how to achieve this, and learn a bit more about buddypress customization. You are also free to hire a developer by posting at http://jobs.wordpress.net/ or somewhere else.
One easy way to begin is to search and read this forum first i guess.
