    Hi Guys
I am having trouble with newly added buddypress member types not having access to members BUT they are able to view forums. (image3)
I manually assign people to this member type via the wordpress dashboard.
My members assigned to the 1st member type I set up can see the members of the newly created member type (image 4 & 5)
I am using paid membership pro for my membership and set up the parameters in paid membership pro via the wordpress dashboard (image 1 & 2)
It acts like the database is not being updated with the new member type
I am stumped can anyone help please. πŸ™‚

I think I found the issue. I believe my theme is causing the problem. I’m using Astra 3.6.5. When I entered troubleshooting and used Twenty Twenty with bbPress and BuddyPress, the group forum topics are opening as expected. I also discovered that the WP Admin Dashboard>Appearance>Customize is broken, too. There is some compatibility issue with the latest BuddyPress with the Astra theme.

I’ve opened a ticket with Astra, but wanted to put my discovery here in case anyone else has a similar issue.

    Thanks!

    WordPress 5.8
    BuddyPress 9.0.0
    bbPress 2.6.6
AuthorReady.com (paid member site, so link won’t help much)

I recently installed bbPress and BuddyPress on my existing paid membership website. The forums and groups are part of the membership and not viewable by the public. I created forums and topics for each group; however, when I try to open a topic in the group’s forum, it will display the first topic, regardless of the URL.

For example, if I am on my group’s forum page (authorready.com/groups/action-thriller/forum/) I see two forum topics: Beta Readers and General Discussion. When I select Beta Readers (authorready.com/groups/action-thriller/forum/topic/action-thriller-beta-readers/), it displays as expected. However, when I click the second topic for General Discussion, the URL is correct (authorready.com/groups/action-thriller/forum/topic/action-thriller-general-discussion/), but it displays the Beta Reader information instead.

I deactivated BuddyPress and the bbPress forums work as intended. The issue is isolated to how they display in the BuddyPress groups. Any ideas why this is happening and how I can fix it?

Hey guys, I saw a post here on how to add a new topic button which is pretty cool.

So it got me to look at form-topic.php and from it created my own simplified “create a new topic page” however it shows a dropdown-box to select which forum the user wants the post to go to but I just want this form just for one forum which I have the id for.
How do I change the drop-down to auto-select the forum I want by default?
    Thank you.

    Thanks for the heads up

Although surely from the age of BP this exists already?

I can’t find anything at all. All posts are just dead ends as no one ever offers a way to do this.

Granted I need to do this myself, for sure, just thought someone on this forum would have posted a solution already?

    Hello all,

I’ve looked throught the forum and many plugins, and I can not solve this problem which seems “so simple” to me !

How to configure an email sent to the administrator each time a registration is done ?

    Let me explain :
My community system is based on pre-registered users in a database.
So, when a user registers on my site, he receives an email (originally, the wordpress email with the activation link) telling him that his account is being verified by the administrator.
Then, the account is in the user pending system, and the administrator can activate or not this account manually.
If the account is validate, the user will receive a welcoming message, etc.

BUT, I would like to receive an email informing me that a user has registered, ie who has completed the registration form BUT has not yet validated his account. However, the default wordpress email is only sent to the administrator when the account is validate.

It’s really exhausting to check permanetly if a user is in the pending system, in order to validate or refuse its account…

    Hope someone could help me…
    Thanks

    Hi all,

I have recently upgraded to Buddypress 9.0 and an existing function hooked in uploading a new avatar no longer appears to be working. Could you let me know please what is the correct hook now? I looked through the supplied Actions & Hooks pdf, but no luck so far in trying those. I also searched for “Avatar hook” in the forums and no results unfortunately.

*Wanted to note that the profile picture/avatar is being uploaded to WordPress correctly

Here is how the function was being registered before:
    add_action( 'bp_members_avatar_uploaded', [self::class, 'UpdateAvatarToSalesforce'], 10, 3 );

    Here is the function prototype:

    public static function UpdateAvatarToSalesforce($item_id, $type, $avatar_data)

    Thank you in advance!

On my site I have a Buddypress / BBPress set-up. Earlier today, I posted a new *Forum* thread, and received a reply via the *Group Activity* feed. The reply, and my reply to the reply, were only posted to group activity, and not to the Forum Thread.

Does anyone know how to either:
    1. Disable the Group Activity Form and / or Replies to Forum Threads via group activities? Or,
    2. Ensure any replies are posted to the Forum thread itself?

Hi can I use one search forum (I know that there exist global search plugin) together for Buddypress Activity Search and normal WordPress Posts Search?
    The wordpress search is domain.com/?s=searchterm
The Search for Buddypress is domain.com/activity/?s=searchterm
how can I get them together by coding?

    Hello Forum

Newbie here, so apologies in advance πŸ™‚

I noticed that when I try to use bulleted lists in user fields I see some strange formatting, including large spaces introduced between the fields. I asked around and it turns out that the CSS for a bulleted list adds a bottom margin (which maybe i can override?), but more importantly the multiline text editor is adding a <br> tag. I have no idea how to stop that from happening.

But the strangest of all is that adding bulleted lists in the profile rich text field disappears the next time one edits that profile. It reverts to a plain old list at the end of the day.

Has anybody used bulleted lists in the fields and have any suggestions?

    (wordpress version 5.7.2)

    Hi,

Is it possible to disable HTML editor/HTML within forum posts? It is causing a lot of formatting issues for our users and we just need plain text really.

    Thanks

I would like to invite new users to write their story in a specific forum.

I should probably use {{{lenostrestorie.url}}} but how do I associate this token to its url ?

How do you create new email tokens ?

To narrow it down, take the usual debugging steps.
For example, switch to a WP theme like 2020.
You can open a support ticket at BuddyBoss.
You can send an email to BuddyX.
All those steps will be more productive than posting in these forums.

I know but there isn’t a forum for BuddyBoss, and I don’t know if it’s BuddyBoss or BuddyX or something completely different that’s causing the issues, and maybe someone using BuddyPress has had a similar issue. I’m just trying to narrow down the problem.

These are the forums for BuddyPress.
Please send your questions to BuddyBoss and / or the creators of the BuddyX theme.

Sorry, I’m rereading your reply. Yes, I do have Buddypress installed. I will post this on that forum.

Thank you for the reply. No, I’ve been using this since 2018, and it’s worked fine. I made two topics, and 2 new forums, linked to the new forum page I had to make… I have no idea what I did last night, to make the tabs disappear. It’s as though a PHP file is turned to false, suddenly and no longer listing the tabs. Any ideas?

    BuddyPress does not include forums.
You are probably using the bbPress plugin which has its own support forums.

I’ve done something, but I don’t know what? I think the slugs for the ‘forum’ page may have had a conflict (there was a warning message, but I changed the names), and I think the tabs went missing after I rebuilt the tables, but the tabs have totally disappeared now, and I don’t know how to get them back.
I uninstalled and deleted/reinstalled bbpress, and it hasn’t brought them back.
I’m really worried that if I delete the Buddypress plugin, I will lose my settings and customer lists of Participants. Any advice would be very much appreciated.

I added buddypress groups. On many example pages I see on a group page tabs on top to choose the menu options. I tried different themes, I can only add a menu in the sidebar.

And I can not find the “Manage the Groups default front page” option that is spoken about on this forum. Do I need an extra plugin for that?

That appears to have worked. Thank you.

We notice that all members email setting is “no mail”. That defeats the purpose of the forum. I am going to start a different note about that.
