In reply to: /forums to show a forum category list???
Jase Cook
ParticipantAlso, I just also noticed, that /forum is what the forum base slug is, but even when changed to forums /forums still redirects to the homepage not the forum list.

ParticipantThat’s my problem, is that is what it has been doing since install is redirecting to home page.
I mean the forums work if you point to one of the test forums…http://zerocomputing.com/forums/testtaco/
I just noticed while that points to it, if you look at the breadcrumbs, the forum link is /forum not /forums

ParticipantI clicked the install sitewide forums button, and nothing more, I installed buddypress first, and then clicked the sitewide forum buttons. Buddypress has a page pointed to Forums, and a page has been made titled forums.

Participant@ubernaut Yeah, of course it’s http://www.zerocomputing.com
–edit- Figured out how to edit the post đ
Now to also say, what should I have the forum base slug and other slugs set as… to avoid the forums/forum/whateverforum/ thing, The double forum word thing is rather aggravating and redundant.
–edit again- What happens is, when I click forums it attempts to load it but responds as if you had just went home. I do have some test forums set up.

ModeratorGood evening @djpaul @mercime @chouf1
Now i think this little plugin really rocks đ
as it can play with bbPress 2.2.3 or BuddyPress 1.5 to 1.7 (group forums or bbPress ones)
here’s 1.0-beta1 of “buddy-bbPress-Support-Topic”.
Some info about this new release :
- works in bbPress 2.2.3
- in topics backend list, adds a column to tell if the topic is a support one
- in topic backend edit screen, adds a selectbox to set the support status into the first right metabox
- in forum topic list on front end adds a mention about the status of the topic for support topics
- in forum topic single view, adds a select box to “ajaxset” the status of the support topic.
You can also style the mentions with a button effect or simple color :
`
//for example
.topic-not-resolved {
color:red;
}.topic-resolved {
color:green;
}
`if you find any bug please let me know, i’ve tested it on these configs:
- BuddyPress 1.7, bbPress 2.2.3
- bbPress 2.2.3
- BuddyPress 1.6.3 with “old” group forums

Participantthat’s the way it’s supposed to work by default might be helpful if you post link to your actual site.

ParticipantGuess I can’t edit my post, but I’d like to point out, I’m also using buddypress, and installed bbpress using their Install Sitewide Forums option.

ParticipantI’ve been testing and decided to go with buddypress group forums for now. Although it doesn’t have all the functionality of the bbpress plugin, it seems more natural and part of the buddypress site.
Thanks @chouf1

ParticipantCan someone please check this out and tell me if I’m doing it wrong?
Also should I do that for only h2 and h3? For example, the file forums/index.php also has h5…

Participanti will try to adapt it to new bbPress soon. But i was hesitating as i thought it already exists
@imath checking https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/tags/bbpress
– I see bbPress update status but that’s automatic, not quite what some would want
– There’s also the getshopped one, but it’s not been updated since WP 3.2.1 and looking through documentation it’s not quite what your plugin does quite so nicely.Thanks again for a cool plugin.

ParticipantThis is the BP forum though đ Ben is helping a good deal, bear in mind you do need a certain coding level if you are going to start customising your installs, finding a ruleset in a stylesheet and applying or adding properties a basic one.

Participantyou can try pasting the following into your edit css tab under appearance:
`#bbpress-forums .bbp-forums-list {
display: none;
}`January 12, 2013 at 4:44 pm #150435Paul Wong-Gibbs
KeymasterNow that the bbPress plugin can support forums for BP Groups, it’s always worth clarifying đ
So you mean bbPress 1 (aka the “old” version, that’s bundled inside of BuddyPress).If someone writes a good plugin for the bbPress plugin (version 2+), that let moderators for a forum mark a particular thread as “resolved”, “not a support question”, and “not resolved”, I’m pretty sure we’d use it here on BuddyPress.org đ
January 12, 2013 at 4:38 pm #150433danbpfr
Participantgood question: it’s for group forums only.
This means perhaps “old” , i don’t know.
But the plugin is working well with BP 1.6.3 group forums.If you have suggestions to improve it to work on bbPress, don’t hesitate.

ParticipantThanks Mercime.
Hi Hugo. I am disinclined to post real urls on Forums because I don’t like them showing up in a search engine’s results so everyone can see what domain issues may relate to which may also raise possible security issues. Thankfully mercime did click(?). I have included the real link to the website I am communicating about in my Profile (which was updated before posting a short url). url links are often only temporary since once an issue has been resolved then there is no example of the ‘problem’ to view so it only really impacts the help factor in the short term. Hope that answers your question.
