    You can change text strings like “Oh bother! No forums were found here!” in core by adding filters in your theme’s functions.php file
    http://blog.ftwr.co.uk/archives/2010/01/02/mangling-strings-for-fun-and-profit/
    or this one which is the same but implemented differently

    @ham-radio haven’t seen those errors before. Something obviously went awry with your installation. What plugins do you have activated in your installation? Where are you hosted?

    Deactivate Mingle theme and create a group. What errors, if any, show up then?

    This is the error that while creating the group when on I clicked next when I was done with the second step. Please note that I believe that the errors are exactly the same except the second line.

    Thanks for your help!
    However, I did what you said. I disabled all my plugins, and theme, and I still have the same problem.
    Any more ideas? Thanks!

    Don’t know what have you tried by way of debugging this issue , always helps on tech forums to state what you have tried so people aren’t suggesting things already covered.

    Are forums enabled? if so what type group or sitewide.

    @themightymo I’ve tried this but doesn’t seem to work.

    I’ve added http://www.domain.nl/groups/groupname/feed to my RSS reader but says its invalid…

    Hey,

    somehow i cannot use this site correctly.Clicking on “Create new topic” throws a 404 on https://buddypress.org/forums/new-topic/.

    So i cannot create a new topic for my problem, but it might be a bit related to this one here.

    When i create a new group in Buddypress, the avatar i upload is not shown. It is indeed uploaded to “wp-content/uploads/group-avatars”, but not in a subfolder like when i change the avatar of a group. After changing the avatar, the avatar is shown. But when i create a new group and want to upload an avatar, it is the standard avatar shown.

    Where could be the problem? The rights are already 777.

    Add `padding-left: 0;` to
    `div.item-list-tabs ul, div#object-nav.item-list-tabs ul, div#subnav.item-list-tabs ul {
    font-size: 13px;
    margin-left: 0 !important;
    }`

    As for forum issues, do create a new topic for that.
    This BP compatibility issue has been resolved.

    Hi there

    I’ve found buddypress to not be mobile friendly. i can’t even access profiles, forums, groups or the member directory.

    Wow thanks for this amazing help!

    I did it and I’m getting excited! (Though I didn’t see the “ tags at all for some reason.)

    Some pages still seem to have issues fitting:

    http://onlinefashionweek.net/activity/
    http://onlinefashionweek.net/members/pataphor/forums/
    http://onlinefashionweek.net/members/pataphor/friends/

    I was thinking it might be easier to remove the sidebar, but I wasn’t sure how to go about it.

    On the other hand, this test forum I made fits great!

    http://onlinefashionweek.net/forums/forum/test-forum

    So maybe if I could make them all fit, maybe with that custom CSS somehow, it would be cool.

    Although, on a separate note, I’m not sure why Forums is blank …

    http://onlinefashionweek.net/forums

    Ai yi yi, my head now officially hurts. : )

    Really appreciate this insanely helpful support!

    Adding “/feed” at the end of your group’s url will give you a feed of all group activity, including forum activity.

    #144284

    I believe you need to edit the template file, “forums”->”forum-loop.php” or “groups”->”groups-loop.php” if you are using the default BP theme. Look for the “freshness” function.

    #144282

    This could be a javaScript or theme problem.

    Steps to troubleshoot:
    1) Deactivate all plugins except for BuddyPress
    2) Activate the default BuddyPress theme

    Does it work now? If so, then you have a plugin or theme problem.

    @djpaul, @hnla, @r-a-y, @mercime et al,

    I’ll move the conversation back over on to the trac ticket, as I think that’s the best place for this discussion to stop it becoming lost.

    As @hnla points out bbPress whilst supporting template parts auto injected into page.php, also allows you to provide full templates for specific content where you want to override the automatic mechanism (TBC). As with the WordPress template hierarchy it’s based on the type and name of the content being displayed. So, for example — you could create a template archive-myforumxyz.php.

    I suspect a similar hierarchy based system for BuddyPress would be best route — with template hierarchy names that recognise display of single groups, single profiles, directories, etc., and override the auto injection into page.php if defined.

    Will elaborate my thoughts on the trac.

    I found a way to make the default page for members to be the profile page.
    `http://www.buddyboss.com/making-profile-the-default-landing-page-in-buddypress/`
    and
    `https://codex.buddypress.org/extending-buddypress/bp-custom-php/`

    Did you ever find a solution to this? I also want the default page for members to be the profile instead of activity.

    Have you changed the theme template to remove the walled garden hook?

    With Your function there should be something like “ in the header.php ….

    An alternative way is to load it on a bp hook as in https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/how-do-i-make-buddypress-1-6-a-private-community/#post-136021 ( Note:
    The function can be put into bp-custom.php though that example puts it into a plugin )

    hmm ok this isn’t perhaps a fair example, but illustrates the ease with which I can do what I need in bbPress:

    We have a template part ‘content-archive-forum’ do nothing and this template part injects into page.php. I can overload the template part dragging it into the theme modify and still have it inject into page,php – however now I have a different requirement page,php is no longer suitable but I can create a new template in theme root archive-forum.php and use that to call the appropriate template_part ‘content-archive-forum’ /forums/ now finds that template rather than page.php.

    As I say though not perhaps best example.

    i know it’s the wrong forum but by any chance do you know how to do the same with bbpress? i think it’s a bit more complicated because i want the last poster username and only have

    bbp_author_link( array( ‘post_id’ => bbp_get_forum_last_active_id())
    and
    bbp_author_ip( array( ‘post_id’ => bbp_get_forum_last_active_id())

    @r-a-y thank you. No more bp-template-pack questions anymore come BP 1.7, only plugin-buddypress.php ones :-)

    BP 1.7 is going to be exciting, all these new shiny features in templates and forums and all that jazz! …. Errr, what am I saying? We need to create all those new codex pages covering the new features as well, gazooks, lol.
