In reply to: [Resolved] is bp_default compatible with bbpress?
Mike3853
MemberOk so I did a fresh install of worpress on my website and when installing buddypress and the site wide forums…I get this error after activating bbPress ” Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 19456 bytes) in /hermes/bosweb/web123/b1238/ipg.msflightsnet/wp-admin/includes/plugin.php on line 883 ” and my dashboard doesn’t work anymore.
Any ideas? Maybe this is a child theme issue and I have to add certain files to it? Thanks!

MemberI clicked on “repair” and nothing happens. I went to the dashboard to “Pages”. Not sure what you mean by “associate ” the pages. When I click on “new page” am I supposed to type a title in? Don’t understand. “Actovity Streams” and “Discussion Forums” both have a “View” button next to them. I clidked on the button and got “Page not found, We’re sorry, but we can’t find the page that you’re looking for. Perhaps searching will help.”

This topic
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/help-us-help-you/Is a sticky at the top of the hot to and troubleshooting section but all of the links in this section:
1.) Starting a topic.
2.) Asking for support.
3.) FAQ+
4.) Codex+
5.) bbPress Integration
6.) Pat Andy on the BackAppear to be broken.
I will attempt to use google to search these forums, really, what I’m looking for is other people who’ve had my problem. Why ask a question if it’s already been answered.
Your volunteer time is greatly appreciated. I didn’t mean for any of that to sound complainy, just trying to figure out if I was missing something.

@rbrtah Your issue is different. The message means that you haven’t gone through the Installation Wizard. Click on (Repair) or go to dashboard menu BuddyPress > Pages and associate the BuddyPress components with respective pages.

MemberThanks for answering so quickly, @mercime. Here is the error message I am getting: ‘The following active BuddyPress Components do not have associated WordPress Pages: Activity Streams, Discussion Forums, User Groups, Members, Activate, Register. (REPAIR)’.
Do you think the “fix” you suggested would work for this error? If so, I will try it. Am new to WP and a bit nervous about making too many changes in unfamiliar territory. I appreciate your help.

ParticipantThat’s the tag heat map thingy, think the OP wanted to recreate the support forum group listing, shouldn’t be difficult but can’t think exactly how to go about it off top of head. edit// in fact it ought to be as simple as a group loop with just titles and description rendered.

Participant@rbrtah there were many issues by OP. Is same error about setting Group and/or Sitewide Forums? If so, check https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/installing-group-and-sitewide-forums/

@mercime
ParticipantI remember someone brought up the same issue before in BP forums and it was because of the plugin conflict, something with prefilled or automatic SEO keywords and the like. To be sure, deactivate all plugins except BuddyPress and check if issue is resolved. Then activate plugins a batch at a time and check registration page

ParticipantI’m looking for a Buddypress compatible membership application plugin with functionality along the following lines:
– The user should be presented with an application/registration form, with some mandatory and non-mandatory fields.
– On completion, the application is submitted to a pending queue.
– From the pending queue selected user roles should be able to ‘approve’ or ‘reject’ the application.
– unapproved applicants have no access to the member content‘Nice to have’ extras:
– ability to select which of the registration fields (if any) should be displayed on the member register
– ability to e-mail user: (i) confirming application submitted (and add a message regarding typical review times, etc.) (ii) approval/rejection e-mail templates and triggers, (iii) Welcome e-mail
– application management in the front-end
– ability to grant unapproved members limited access to membership areas, e.g. possibly to one forum only.I’m wondering whether something already exists? Be good to hear from anyone with suggestions. Many thanks.

KeymasterIt’s not a widget in the backend. I assume it’s hardcoded into the theme template, but I’m unable to take a look at it and confirm.

Participant@abray we are aware of the search issue, sorry for the inconvenience. In the meantime, you can use Google buddypress.org + keywords/phrases.

Participant@nickharambee Remove the BP Component Pages you want to make private from the custom menu https://codex.buddypress.org/extending-buddypress/how-to-set-up-your-main-site-navigation-using-the-built-in-wordpress-menus/
Add the following to your theme’s or child theme’s functions.php file
add_filter( 'wp_nav_menu_items', 'mme_loggedin_only_links' ); function mme_loggedin_only_links($items) { if (!is_user_logged_in()) return $items; else $ouractivity = '<li><a href="' . home_url('/') . 'activity' . '">' . __('Activity', 'buddypress' ) . '</a></li>'; $ourmembers = '<li><a href="' . home_url('/') . 'members' . '">' . __('Members', 'buddypress' ) . '</a></li>'; $ourgroups = '<li><a href="' . home_url('/') . 'groups' . '">' . __('Groups', 'buddypress' ) . '</a></li>'; $ourgroupforums = '<li><a href="' . home_url('/') . 'forums' . '">' . __('Forums', 'buddypress' ) . '</a></li>'; $items = $items . $ouractivity; $items = $items . $ourmembers; $items = $items . $ourgroups; $items = $items . $ourgroupforums; return $items; }May 26, 2012 at 9:23 am #135086In reply to: out of the box theme

@mercime
Participant@nickharambee since you have group forums at http://www.yoursite.com/forums/ , to avoid conflict between the group and sitewide forums, need to have a different slug for your sitewide forums, e.g. discussions so the sitewide forums will be at http://www.yoursite.com/discussions/

ParticipantI have looked over the forums and found several threads concerning this function but there seem to be no apparent solution to this issue. I would love an answer from somebody who has deeper understanding of buddypress to see if this is possible to accomplish or not.
Is it possible to create multiple different registration forms or different fields to fill in depending on what the user selects when registering?
All help would be much appreciated!

Participant1) What specifically were you looking for? URI to thread with links to errors so we may correct them? There have been some major changes behind the scenes throughout these months.
2) We are aware of the search issue. Sorry for the inconvenience. You could Google for your username + buddypress.org + keyword or phrases. What were you looking for?
