ParticipantGroup forums will be scripted to use the Sitewide Forums pretty soon, so your wish will come true.
Organizing Forum topics is via bbPress plugin (aka Sitewide Forums). For this and for the minor bug in the Mute – please post at be bbPress.org forums.

ParticipantThe plugin has not been updated for almost a year, so not compatible with BP 1.5.5.
Best bet is to post at plugin’s forums at https://buddypress.org/community/groups/rs-buddypress-activity-refresh/forum/ or https://wordpress.org/tags/rs-buddypress-activity-refresh?forum_id=10 but it doesn’t look like the developer is responding at all.May 12, 2012 at 7:13 pm #134413In reply to: Group Forums – Reply to Topic Replies

ParticipantI would also like to see threaded comments added to group forums…
In addition, it would also be fabulous if Forum topics could also be setup to be organized by category. Or better yet, as in some of the nicer online wiki’s the forum directory being able to be edited by the admin so that items in the forum directory and be placed in grouplets or in any order other than first come last posted.
I’d like this on the doc’s plugin as well, but then that’s a plugin!
There is also a minor bug in the Mute – Follow option when the bp – editor plugin is added forums, which results in the follow-mute button being almost completely obscured at the bottom where new comments are to be started.
May 12, 2012 at 4:48 pm #134392In reply to: Small issue with Sidebar in wp-chatter theme.
@mercime
ParticipantBased on the HTML structure of your theme, you need to use the first option, i.e., change 16 template files within the 6 BP folders transferred to your wp-chatter theme folder in server during the compatibility process.
If you’ve previously changed any of the BP template files in your theme folder in server, replace all of them for a clean slate by deleting the 6 BP folders – /activity, /blogs, /forums, /groups, /members, and /registration – then re-run Appearance > BP Compatibility.
Download the 6 clean BP folders to your computer hard drive.
A. At the top of each of those 16 template files I linked to above, replace
``with
`<div class="post clearfix maincontent" style="margin:0;" id="post-“>`Then, in each of 16 files, you’d like to change the BP Templates’ page title’s header tag from `
…
` or `
..
` to `
// Titles Of Respective BP Page Templates //
`, just watch out when you do this in the /activity/index.php page.
Save files.

ParticipantI don’t think you can upload a video with activity + . I assume you mean remove upload image from activity +? that is fairly simple.
try adding this to your theme’s main css file: .qq-upload-button { display: none !important; }

Participant@vus firstly you should not re-open threads that are old especially ones that are two years old it is very unlikely they will be relevant to your issue – especially where code is concerned.
Please start your own thread on your issue – rather than tagging on to end of another – even if similar to your issue.
In the new thread describe and detail your present install in as much as possible, theme in use plugins etc.
The aim is to identify why the issue is occurring as it shouldn’t so you do not want to be throwing code into the template files at this stage so remove the code you have added for the moment, until members can have a think and make a few suggestions to resolving your issue.
I’m closing this thread as it should by now be read only really.

MemberHi
I seem to have the same problem, not able to create groups.
I followed the steps above and now have a piece of code that looks like this.
` <a class="button" href="”>`
This, however, only results in a 404 on the groups part of buddypress. Does anybody have an idea of what I did wrong?

ParticipantThe solution for me was:
# install bbPress plugin (via BP settings, but I don’t think it matters)
# rename ‘Forums’ page slug I had created to forums-home (so as not to have conflict within bbP config)
# disable ‘Forums’ in BP ? ComponentsNow the forums work! However, they don’t seem to integrate with the sitewide activity stream… but that’s another topic…

Participantnothing yet asked him almost 3 days ago but didn’t get a reply here: http://buddydev.com/forums/topic/coupld-of-bugs-with-bp-mag-classic. so i had nothing better to do then looking into it myself, and I found this problem. read some tutorials about php codes. (else if) tried some different ways to implement it all failed.
just wondering if the code looks okay like that. so i can search for the issue somewhere else. i will take a look in the bp default templates didn’t do that yet thanks.
I was also afraid since it works on his bp mag classic demo its got nothing to do with the theme. and its once again an issue with my wordpress installation or host.

Participantwith buddypress 1.5.5, there are two options once buddypress is installed. the left option to install group forums and the option on the right to install sitewide(global) forums. i first installed the group forums. i then returned to the dashboard to install the sitewide forums via the second option that buddypress provided. however, the solution you provided fixed my problem and i appreciate your help and quick response!

Participant== I received a note that said “It looks like you already said that.” ==
I’ve seen this happen when you post large blocks of code with at certain times. What I do is to post code at pastebin.com and post the generated URI here along with my text and it’s all good.May 11, 2012 at 3:45 pm #134325@mercime
Participant== i then tried to install the global forums ==
Please clarify, are you referring to the Sitewide Forums aka bbPress plugin 2.+ or are you referring to the Global Forums plugin by BuddyDev.com? In either case to gain back access to your wp-admin, rename the bbpress or global-forums folders via FTP/FileManage/cpanel to something like wp-content/plugins/bbpress-xxx or wp-content/plugins/global-forums-xxxMay 11, 2012 at 3:27 pm #134322@mercime
ParticipantDo you have Sitewide and Group Forums installed or just Sitewide Forums only?

MemberNope. I deactivated all plugins except for BuddyPress & the Template pack. Still no luck with the comments. Just goes to the top of the screen when clicked.

@mercime
ParticipantThere was a report here about a security plugin interfering with forum replies. If you don’t have one, deactivate plugins except BuddyPress and see if issue is resolved. Then activate plugins one by one to see which one is messing up with commenting.

Participant1. Have you tried BuddyPress Group Forums & bbPress (or known as Sitewide forums). Both of them integrate well with BuddyPress and will show up in the activity stream when someone start a topic or post a reply.
https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/installing-group-and-sitewide-forums/2. I think most of the BuddyPress compatible theme should fits your need. You just need to configure it so it looks like a normal blogs in the front while still maintain the social media functions.

ParticipantIt will show the blog and forum posts in the activity stream but it will “disable commenting on blog and forum posts” in the activity stream. This was set up so that the comments to blog and forum posts will be posted in the respective blog and forum posts.
