    Hi everyone. I am doing a site called https://loveplove.com

    After having read all forums, what worked for me was using WP Mail SMTP plugin was putting the following code. Please note I am just putting together various codes together from authors in those forums so you find it easily. In your bp-core-functions php file add the following:

    add_filter(‘bp_email_use_wp_mail’, ‘__return_true’);

    add_filter( ‘wp_mail_content_type’, function( $content_type ) {
    $content_type = ‘text/html’;
    return $content_type;
    } );

    $must_use_wpmail = apply_filters( ‘bp_email_use_wp_mail’, $wp_html_emails || ! $is_default_wpmail );

    if ( $must_use_wpmail ) {
    $to = $email->get( ‘to’ );

    return wp_mail(
    array_shift( $to )->get_address(),
    $email->get( ‘subject’, ‘replace-tokens’ ),
    $email->get_template( ‘add-content’ )
    );
    }

    add_filter( ‘wp_mail’, function( $array ) {
    // Set conditions here.

    $array[‘message’] = ‘Change this’;
    return $array;
    } );

    DELETE THE FOLLOWING:

    $must_use_wpmail = apply_filters( ‘bp_email_use_wp_mail’, $wp_html_emails || ! $is_default_wpmail );

    if ( $must_use_wpmail ) {
    $to = $email->get( ‘to’ );

    return wp_mail(
    array_shift( $to )->get_address(),
    $email->get( ‘subject’, ‘replace-tokens’ ),
    $email->get( ‘content_plaintext’, ‘replace-tokens’ )
    );
    }

    LH BuddyPress doesn’t work normally

    What is LH BuddyPress ?
    Do you mean LH Private BuddyPress ?
    If so, you should use the support forum for that plugin.

    I have BuddyPress 4.1.0 and bbPress 2.5.14 installed on a WordPress 5.0.3

    I already tried resetting the permalinks. I have not tried disabling and re-enabling all other plugins. I’m hoping it’s a simple fix.

    I am having URL Rewrite issues.
    This URL works and gets me to a page which lists all groups/my groups.
    //example.com/groups/

    For testing, I log in as a user having the wp ‘subscriber’ role who is a member of one of the private groups listed.

    I click on the group to which the user is a member and it takes me here:
    //example.com/groups/regenerative-farming-discussion/forum/

    This is good. This is where I want the user to be. But on this page, the user has the ability to see how many other members are in this group and clicking the ‘members’ button should take the user to a page that lists only the members of that group. When I hover over the members button, the URL that displays is
    //example.com/groups/regenerative-farming-discussion/members/

    but when I click on the members button, the URL I am taken to is
    //example.com/members/

    which is a page that lists ALL the members. NOT what I want.

    Similarly, if I’m logged in as a user and I go to the Members page (//example.com/members/), and I click on a member’s name, I’m taken to the member’s page:
    //example.com/members/member_name/

    I see that this member belongs to 2 groups. I want to know which ones, so I should click on the tab that says “Groups (2)” to see which two groups the person belongs to. When I hover over that tab, the URL displayed is
    //example.com/members/member_name/groups/

    but when I click on it I am taken here instead
    //example.com/groups/

    which lists all the groups. NOT what I want.

    What can I do to fix the errant rewriting of these URLs?

    Hi,

    i’m using bbPress und Buddypress with my Theme Enfold an WooCommerce.

    Everything is fine, but when a want to login to the forum i cam to the Startpage of my Website, not direct into the forum.

    Now i have to navigate to the forum page again to get into.

    Nice would be to be automatically on the forum page after login.

    How can i fix this?

    Thank you for helping!

    Am a novice but am using WP 5.03 with Buddypress 4.0 and bbpress 1.5.14. The site is https://908X0.org. It is not live and Registration has been disabled. New users have Subscriber role for buddypress and Participant for Forums. My problem: all new users I have created have the capability to Edit Pages after login. I thought it had something to do with my IP or browser but cleared the browser and sent the link to my site to a friend and he could see the Edit Page text in the admin bar. I disabled every plugin, including bbpress. The bug is still there. I have built an almost identical site that does not have this problem.

    I am not a developer or a coder. I can follow explicit instructions to make changes in the C-panel or elsewhere, but most of the time I just expect things to work like they are supposed to. I can generally find solutions or work-arounds but this one has me stumped. I have been unable to find anything on line about this problem. Does anyone have any idea what may be causing this?

    FYI the solution for me was deactivating the rtMedia plugin.

    I had previously tried these extra troubleshooting steps which may help you if you don’t have rtMedia installed.

    • Switched to Nouveau BP theme, no help.
    • Search Engine Visibility should stay unchecked. See your-site/wp-admin/options-reading.php
    • Allow people to post comments on new articles: should be checked (These settings may be overridden for individual articles.) -> could be set to of by default on some themes. Posts directory > Choose Post > Quick edit > Allow comments. See your-site/wp-admin/options-discussion.php
    • Site Tracking should be checked. BP Settings > components
    • Blog & Forum Comments should be checked. BP Settings > settings

    Hey, first post here,
    I’m using a WordPress install with MemberPress to manage registrations.

    I then am using bbPress for a forum, and BuddyPress for Profiles, Messaging, etc.

    When a new user registers, a very peculiar thing happens.

    The WP Username and the BuddyPress name, stored in the wp_bp_xprofile_data do not match.
    In some cases, this also becomes imported_{username}.

    In the case where it the BuddyPress name becomes imported_{username} it seems to be associated with bbPress, in this file /plugins/bbpress/includes/admin/converter.php, starting on line 970.

    However, I can’t seem to track down where seemingly random usernames are coming from, and WHY…

    In the example image, if I were to search the database for bobbytaylor5971 the only instance of that string is in the one row in wp_bp_xprofile_data. Correct user_id, wrong value.

    I’ve been trying to figure this out for months, and so far, we’ve just been manually updating each new registered user.

    Any thoughts on this issue?

    Thanks for the help.

    I have the same problem. The lack of community support makes me feel this plugin may not be worth the effort.

    When you check the manage signups the new registered user is awaiting to be activated. It shows that an email has been sent. After you try and resend the activation email. It does trigger and add to the count – showing two emails sent. So it would seem most of the functionality is working. If I deactivate the plugin, my wordpress email notifications is working. I’ve checked the spam folder, and even tried non-gmail accounts and still getting no activation emails at all. However, I have received a buddypress notification when another member does a mention. So it appears some kind of small bug is the problem.

    Does any of the core developers for BuddyPress check theses support forums?

    These are the forums for just the BuddyPress plugin.
    Please direct your questions about LearnPress – BuddyPress Integration to the creators of that plugin.

    Please ask questions about bbPress on their support forums.

    It’s not easy to figure out what you are doing – or more importantly why.

    I suggest you not use pre_get_posts.
    Instead write your own WP_Query on your custom page.

    This thread is now closed due to being off-topic for these forums.

    I do not know anything about coding …

    You can use these forums to try and hire somebody to help you.

    Or for specific questions about your code – but questions about other plugins are out of scope.
    I suggest you talk to the creators of formidable forms about your issue.

    You can use $groups = groups_get_user_groups($user_id); to get all the groups that a user belongs to.

    page-bp-public.php is not in the BuddyPress plugin.

    $query->set('post_type', 'topic');
    ‘topic’ post types are created and handled by bbPress.

    This is a BuddyPress forum.
    Questions specific to WordPress should be asked on the WP support forums.

    Hi there, BuddyPress does not come with forums, for that you’d need a plugin such as bbPress.

    BuddyPress does not provide forums.
    Try using bbPress or maybe ask on their support forums.

    Do not ever – EVER – post your admin credentials on a public web page.

    [ Would you hand a copy of your house keys to ‘x’ number of random strangers you pass on the street ? ]

    I have removed the credentials and replaced them with the error message that you are seeing.
    I don’t have a solution to your issue.
    I suspect the BuddyPress prompt to reset the permalinks is a symptom of an WordPress issue in your installation.
    You might try asking on the https://wordpress.org/support/ forums.

    bp_is_user_forums() is not used in the current BuddyPress template files.

    The fatal errors are due old BuddyPress files coming from your child theme – not from buddypress plugin files.

    PHP Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to undefined function bp_is_user_forums() in /nas/content/live/thefluentself/wp-content/themes/fluent-self-2017/buddypress/members/single/home.php:88

    Perhaps there is a new version of your theme ?
    Or you could ask the theme creators about the error?

    You could try deleting all BuddyPress files in your child theme.
    Or you could try updating the buddypress/members/single/home.php file in your child theme.

    BuddyPress: 4.1.0
    WP: 5.0.2
    site link: (private site)

    On the members profile pages, clicking certain menu tabs breaks the page – clicking “notifications”, “groups”, or “settings” causes the page to be cut off just below those menu items.

    Through plugin and theme disabling, I’ve narrowed the problem down to an incompatibility between BuddyPress and my Divi child theme.

    I also learned that an incomplete page is likely due to a fatal PHP problem, so I captured the debug log – sure enough, BuddyPress PHP errors all over the place.

    Unfortunately, I’m not savvy enough to know what they mean, or how to fix them.

    An insight AT ALL would be appreciated.

    Hello…
    I just made a post My Previous Post and noticed a label “this topic marked as spam” after I tried to edit a typo. I’m not sure why or how to avoid that in the future, or how to get any input on what I had originally been asking?

    It IS a bit of a duplicate post, since I originally put a similar question in a different forum, but I wasn’t really sure where it belonged and couldn’t figure out how to delete the first one.

    Please help?
    Thanks!

    Looking at it this would be a none trivial task, you’d need to replicate and modify the BP functions that create the button to include a check to see if the group is an announcement group and change the text accordingly. Possibly a simpler alternative would be to do some hacky Javascript that replaced the text on the fly, that would need to be specific to your site config.

    Also, that plugin has not been updated in 6 years and it’s throwing errors so you’d need to fix those as well:

    1. renaming of forums menu item to announcements no longer works.
    2. Group directory additional text intefere’s with modern directory listings and I think should simply be removed.

    So there’s quite a bit of work required on that.

    Hi,

    I am working in a multisite installation and I feel that is occuring a strange behaviour between buddpress, bbpress and groups.

    My installation has two websites, the root and a second where I am planning run the community, however as I would like to share users avatar between the entire network I activated the buddypress in multisite mode.

    The problem is that when I use the code to define to buddypress to run in community, my option to assign forum to groups disappear from the group management are in the network panel. However if I create a group, a forum is created normally in the subsite (bbpress is activated in subsite only).

    I would like to know if this is the normal behaviour from the plugin? I feel that if I set buddypress to run in a subsite in the network mode, it should still displaying the select forum metabox but grabbing information from the bbpress installation in the subsite.
