ParticipantThanks! I was worried because even the search box above wasn’t helping me. But as you mentioned, Google is indexing these pages VERY FAST. That’s good.
Maybe as a stopgap arrangement you could consider placing a Google site search box around here. Just a suggestion

ParticipantI understand your concern. Apologies for the inconvenience.
In the meantime Google is our friend. Google e.g “buddypress.org sooskriszta forums – my activity” and this page is already indexed. You can bump your topic if unanswered after 24 hours.December 5, 2011 at 2:31 am #125597In reply to: This website – Forums – My activity

ParticipantI am already registered at testbp.
The concern is that I when I ask questions here, how do I keep track? If some questions are not answered for a few days, how do I find them again upon my visit to these pages, say, in a week?

Go to admin dashboard menu Settings > Forums > Archive Slugs > Forums base — should be the slug you used for your forums page, supportDecember 4, 2011 at 7:51 pm #125563In reply to: Problems with activity page and group page

Member@mercime so I have re-enabled /ticked the box, selected the support page, checked the slug is ok, all is fine, rerun permalinks, cleared cache and the link doesn’t work. I have tried entering meetinbradford.org/support and also tried the link, neither seem to work.
I notice that now, when I go to archive slugs > forums base : it states that there is a possible conflict with Support page

Member@mericme – when I follow your last step to the Buddypress>pages>discussion forums – the discussion forums option is not there because I unticked the box because I thought that I needed to do this to disable group forums to make site wide forums work.

ParticipantYou have two pages titled “Support” in your site – Support with slug Discuss and Support page with support slug – the first one a left-over from previous need to have both group and sitewide forums.
– Delete the first one, Support page with slug Discuss, then go to Trash and Delete Permanently that page.
– The title of the Page should equal name of slug. So open up the Support Page that you kept and make sure the slug below it is also support.
– Now go to admin dashboard menu BuddyPress > Pages > Directories – Discussion Forums, select the page Support and click on Save button on same line.
– Go to admin dashboard menu Settings > Permalinks and re-run it once again for good measure.
Note: if you want to rename the page to “Discussions”, don’t forget to change the slug to discussions as well, and go to BuddyPress > Pages to select the page Discussions from the dropdown.

Member@mercime I have backed up my database and deleted bb-config.php. There is no immediate difference, that I can see. I do not want to use the group forums feature.

KeymasterIn the current BP system, you’d need to create groups for each of your cities.
Then enable the discussion forum for each group and you should be good. You might be more interested in using the bbPress forum plugin:

ParticipantHave you checked out theme authors’ forums http://themekraft.com/forums/ or updates as they usually post the latest updated Custom Community theme at github https://github.com/Themekraft/Custom-Community before it’s released at WordPress.org themes page
December 3, 2011 at 3:12 am #125486In reply to: Can I create more than one forum?
@mercime
ParticipantThen install bbPress the plugin (sitewide forums) https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/installing-group-and-sitewide-forums/ and have group forums as well.
== I would like to have the option of each forum in the menu. ==
Do you mean the main menu? Then use custom menu and add the link/s to respective forums.December 3, 2011 at 3:09 am #125485@mercime
Participant@OHAAT first, bbPress the plugin is no longer in beta, it is now stable version 2.0.2. The topic above was 4 months 2 weeks ago.
To totally uninstall the forum for groups, backup DB and the bb-config.php that was created at root of your WP install. Then delete that bb-config.php at root. For more info about installing sitewide forums (bbPress plugin) check out https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/installing-group-and-sitewide-forums/

ParticipantTo clarify, your upgrade is from BP 1.5 to 1.5.1 or BP 1.2.+ to BP 1.5.1?
== Does it mean that the problem is with my framework? ==
If you’re coming from BP 1.2+ to BP 1.5.1, it’s with the updated BP Template files in 6 folders which should have been transferred to your Platform theme folder, plus that you went through the installation wizard
If you’re coming from BP 1.5 to BP 1.5.1 check via admin menu BuddyPress > Pages that your Member page is associated with Page titled Members in select box. Check also that the slug is the same as the title of the page. e.g. page title = Members and slug = members not members-2 or members-3
EDIT 1 – took too long to answer. didn’t see your post @aces

EDIT 2 – Also, if you updated your Platform theme, the update might have deleted the BP template folders from your WP theme so reupload activity, blogs, forums, groups, members and registration from bp-default theme to your WP theme folder in server.

MemberI also installed the groups version and now want to go to the bbPress. When I try and “uninstall” the groups, it still keeps all those settings so anything I try and do in bbPress doesn’t work. Even tried deleting everything with buddy press to no avail!
Will try just disabling groups in the components until the other is out of beta.
