In reply to: Hide specific user profile tabs

ParticipantHello Prashant Singh,
Thank you for answering again one of my questions!
The plugin is not what I am looking for. I seem to not have explained myself well.
So I try again:
My site is already restricted to only be visible to members. However I want these sub tabs which are located on each members profile to be visible ONLY to the respective member:
Tab “Activity” – Sub tabs: “Favorites, Friends and Groups”
Tab “Forums” – Sub tab: “Favorites”
So when I go to another members profile I don’t see these sub tabs only on my own profile.
Thank you.September 23, 2018 at 6:28 pm #276665In reply to: Activity Stream….attach pictures — normal?

Participant.S.: I’m using bbPress with BuddyPress….and I’m referring to the ability for the “updates” people make ~directly~ to the group front page — not updates they make in forums elsewhere that populate in the Activity Stream automatically.
I think, I got the solution!

ParticipantHi,
You must be using Anti-Splog plugin.
Please check this thread: https://premium.wpmudev.org/forums/topic/why-have-our-super-admin-accounts-been-marked-as-spam-when-we-marked-a-blog-as-spam
Thanks

KeymasterYou should post on the bbPress forums and not BuddyPress.
https://bbpress.org/forumsbbPress handles forums and BuddyPress handles the community aspect (profiles, groups, etc).

KeymasterIt looks like you didn’t post a support thread on the
bp-profile-searchforum:
https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/bp-profile-searchPlease create a thread over there first before creating a ticket on Trac as you did here.

KeymasterThanks for the bug report, @brianbws. I’ve just created a ticket here – https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/7969
Update – I’ve also added a potential fix here – https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/attachment/ticket/7969/7969.02.patch

For future reports, if there are bugs and you are able to list the steps in order to reproduce the problem on a fresh install, please create tickets over at https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org (use the same credentials you use on wordpress.org). (Do not make support threads there though!)
The reason is not all developers are checking the support forums.

ParticipantI definitely plan to have a demo site in place, I’ve already started building it.
Is there a particular place I should post on this forum to let people know about it and get their feedback?

Post in these forums. If you can setup a demo site, that would be great.

ParticipantYou can search for such kind of issues in this forum also or can google this out as well.
Please check this thread: https://buddypress.org/support/topic/change-username-to-display-name-on-member-profile-page/
Hopefully, it will help you.
Thanks

ParticipantI’ve been writing with a worker from BuddyBoss and he wasn’t to much help. He just linked the same as you did and then told me to make a forum here on BuddyPress to get the correct information..

ParticipantP.S.: I can now update cover photos; Autoptimize was preventing that from happening. Was also preventing using TinyMCE in forums to upload photos.
NOW BOTH those things work (THANK GOD)….but the Avatar is STILL not being allowed to upload.
Note: when I disable a “Reorder” plugin, which reorders javascript and style sheets, I can upload avatars, but the entire back end no longer functions well — it’s as if scripts are disabled. For example: if I’m in the Plugins screen and click the box where it selects all plugins, and that Reorder plugin is disabled….? Only the box I checked (the little one on top of the list for all plugins that SHOULD be activating all checkboxes to be checked when it’s checked)…..only that box gets checked. Nothing initializes. :/
I’ve since deleted Autoptimize but kept the Reorder plugin (because my site can’t function without it for now). I need a better solution. EITHER a way to make sure no “reordering” happens for BuddyPress (like a “do not reorder me” command or something similar)…..or a better “reordering plugin”….
Thoughts?

Participantthat plugin has several issues…unfortunately. one look at the reviews and i knew that was not a plugin i’d ever use.
i decided to not try to upload pics in the activity stream afterall. i’m going to just go with the forums and am using GD image there; works well.
my new issue: trying to figure out where the template/shortcode is in either bbPress or BuddyPress that creates a topic discussion page. the page where the actual topic discussion takes place…not merely the default forum page with all the topics listed there.
if you know where i can find that shortcode/code that structures the topic page where the topic itself is discussed, please let me know…

ParticipantP.S.: I’m using bbPress with BuddyPress….
And when I mentioned (above) that an alternative solution could be using the activity stream to “allow for uploading pictures,” I’m referring to the ‘updates’ (comments) people make that are made ~directly~ on the group front page.
So what I was trying to make happen was that group members would be able to include pictures in their direct updates to the group ‘wall’/front page.
I’m not referring to updates that they make in forums elsewhere on the site that populate in the Activity Stream automatically. 🙂

ModeratorThe Media tab is always visible if you are logged out.
The change needs to be made in your theme.
You should ask the theme authors how to make that change for logged in users – especially since it is a premium theme.
Questions about premium theme are outside the scope of these forums.September 7, 2018 at 5:01 pm #276205In reply to: Sub-forums inside a group?

ParticipantI never found a good solution for this. We ended up having 2 main types of groups that we wanted to differentiate between so we were hoping for two big groups with subforums, but just ended up making each its own group.
We added some metadata to each group (https://codex.buddypress.org/plugindev/how-to-edit-group-meta-tutorial/) and just used that on a custom template (https://webdevstudios.com/2015/06/02/creating-custom-templates-for-buddypress/) and showed things a little differently, but they are all just regular old BP groups in the end.

ParticipantRemoving the sidebar depends on what theme you are using, also please let me know, do you want to remove from profile only or other pages as well.
You can check this link as well: https://buddydev.com/support/forums/topic/remove-sidebar-on-buddypress-profile-page/

ParticipantHi,
You can follow this thread https://premium.wpmudev.org/forums/topic/buddypress-wordpress-avatars-not-synching
You can remove the condition where it is checking if the user has uploaded avatar or not.
Thanks

ParticipantThank you, it worked but I see that many of these forums either have no image so it places an avatar image or the image is too small that was uploaded. Is it possible to remove the image all together from the forum? I don’t think it is necessary to have the image on the forum board for our purposes. Thank you for you help with this.
