Hey there,

I would like to improve the security of my site and ploughed through this forum to find the right answer.

Is there a way to hide the profiles of administrators site-wide?

At this moment when an administrator creates a group, all visitors could see the profile of the admin. I would like to hide it; I want it only visible for other administrators in dashboard.

I’ve seen that in WP > Activity… but that is everything and there are about 100 or more things that come up each hour. Ultimately what I want is the ability to get a notification in my front end every time one of my members actually writes something whether it be on their wall, activity stream, forum, group discussion, etc. Just like Facebook… so I can check off the ones that I have seen and gotten to easily. I already get some notifications just like my members do when someone comments on a post I made, etc. but I just want the admin notifications to be more robust.

I’m realizing there is no plugin to do this… has someone created any CSS code that might be useful to get this done.

Robin W over at bbPress was kind enough to provide this filter for functions.php:

Used with a custom role, it works great at preventing emails from going out from bbPress.

Of course, BuddyPress sends out several emails (friend request, private messages, etc).

Any ideas on how I can modify the filter above to prevent sending of BuddyPress emails to user if they have a custom role enabled? Even a place to go where I might find some ideas to work with?

This is an old topic, but not answered. I need this too.
we have non english characters in our urls, and topic/reply URLs are too long and ugly. I want post IDs instead of full slugs. for example instead of

http://example.com/group/industrial/forum/topic/instruments/page/34/#post-79878

I want this:

http://example.com/group/industrial/post/ID

Is that possible?

One thing I should mention is that when I am logged in, I can see all the widgets, so the site looks normal. But still not the forums.

Failure still exists “no search possible if buddypress and bbpress is activated together”, even if using just a small amount of plugins and switching the theme “twenty seventy”.

I tried to do the following:
1. I have done a clone copy of site URL
2. deactivated all not necessary plugins

3. activated twenty seventeen by using “Theme Test Drive” plugin

RESULT: Instead of search “test” content to be found, then the URL is forwarding to main site without pointing to search result.

Not really. You can adjust the WP and BP navigation if you have developer skills.

It is run by volunteers and there is no guarantee that all questions will be answered to the satisfaction of the poster.

We may need to be clearer on the steps to replicate this as…
With a twentyseventeen theme, BP trunk, stable bbpress no other plugins.

With an index page displaying the forums list shortcode & search input I can search for forum topics quite happily, returning results to the page showing bbp results.

However tested on single site not MS and use of directory MS rather than sub-domain might be a factor.

GDF_child is from geodirectory (but the problem occur even, if I switch the theme to twenty fourteen)

Not as I know, but maybe the geodirectory addon “GeoDirectory BuddyPress Integration 1.1.9″

no build in. version in use is bbPress 2.5.12

Hey, you managed to put up a very beautiful website! Congratulations!

Have you tried Siteground? They do have PHP7. I’m running their shared hosting plan, and after some issues with their terms about number of processes, executions and time, I faced the beast and started to get my hands dirty, removing all plugins, templates, messing with the configuration, putting a default wp template (twenty seventeen), creating my own child theme and messing with functions.php first and then modifying css and php files myself. I have never been a wordpress developer… Not even a php programmer… Just started messing with it on my own, for necessity (and, after a little time, for fun)… Now, I have a website with almost zero plugins (only the essentials), running on php7, http2 and moving in the speed of light, with the lowest server consumption ever…

My advice: dont be afraid of getting your hands dirty.. the code is there, also the documentations, sites, forums, blogs and all kinds of resources 😀
