    Yup its there

    http://tempsg.com/buddypress/wp-content/plugins/tweetstream/js/tweetstream.js

it may be a file location problem because I have test site in a sub folder and the T icon is not showing because its coded to use the base url

these need a location set that allows sub folders. I added it hard coded and it works now

    echo'<link rel=”stylesheet” href=”/buddypress/wp-content/plugins/tweetstream/css/style.css” type=”text/css” media=”screen” />’;

    echo'<script type=”text/javascript” src=”/buddypress/wp-content/plugins/tweetstream/js/tweetstream.js”></script>’;

Forum posting still does not work

Does the problem occur when you deactivate WP-o-matic?

My guess is it definitely has something to do with WP-o-matic.

I’d recommend moving to FeedWordpress myself.

So – I just upgaded to 1.2.1 and thought: give it a new shot… But still doesn’t work :-( Not too bad, because with 1.2 I don’t need the forums anymore (looking forward to a tagged new solution…).

But still it seems strange, that this just happens to me… Maybe I really messed the forums up one time…

    Voted! :)

Funny how someone voted it was broken without coming onto the forums for help (purely speculating here!).

This is caused when you have BuddyPress turned off. Make sure it is activated, it’s also as a result of the plugin not doing this:

No, it doesn’t send the tweet to twitter from a forum post. Let me test on another install as this one is a child theme and the test site is not.

Ok tested on test install now its not working at all on WP single 2.9.2 BP 1.2.1

I have test site in a folder though not sure if thats messing it up or not. On other site I have not upgraded BP still at 1.2

Even when I replace bp_the_topic_post_poster_link with bp_member_permalink() on the forum topic, it still doesn’t have the username at the end of the link. Weird??

The problem also still exists in the activity stream.

@Bbrian017 I actually do that by manually logging in once of twice a day, and marking users and blogs as spam at my discretion. If in doubt I email the person who signed up and ask them something a spammer wouldn’t know. My site is aimed at users in my country only so there are many things I can ask them that genuine users only would be able to answer. Its tough going.

I think there must be someway to do this through WP though as you can do this with many other CMS’s and forum scripts where you can only allow registrations after approval

Gotcha…except I’m seeing “userbar” referring to different things as well.

    https://buddypress.org/forums/topic/horizontal-userbar

Whatever it’s called, it seems like a critical piece to creating a self-perpetuating network. Anything we can do to make it easier for members to promote the network helps.

WPMU Dev Premium has an affiliate plugin that creates member-specific code tied to images.

    http://premium.wpmudev.org/project/wordpress-mu-affiliate

A basic badge that links back to the member’s profile should be much simpler. To me, this should be a core function…

I think Detective or socialpreneur was working on a port of AJAX Quote from bbPress to the BP forums.

If nothing gets released within the next week or two, I might take a crack at it.

My WP Single 2.9.2/BP 1.2 did update Twitter from my forum post (needs to be upon topic creation at the moment) but the tinyurl that was created was weird.

Here is the actualy forum topic post:

    http://twitterpokertour.com/groups/tournament-poker/forum/topic/twitter-poker-tour-february-week-4-twitter/

And here is the tinyurl that was created:

    http://tinyurl.com/yeytrjq

The page that is displayed from the tinyurl is just a random gathering of posts from a variety of group forums (not the one that the original topic was posted in).

This is not a TweetStream issue but a BP/BB issue. If you craft a URL in the form of:

    http://domain.com/groupsgroupname/forum/topic/blah-blah-blah-type-whatever-you-want-here/

Will result in a page of random random posts.

There are lots of regular WP event plugins. I’d suggest searching on the wordpress.org site / forums. But for a BuddyPress integrated plugin… there are only two… one which is a WordPress MU Premium (paid) plugin… and bp-events from Erwin… the development of which seems to come in spurts. Last I heard… Erwin was pretty far along in making it 1.2 compatible and was mostly just working on an Ajax calendar feature. Hopefully it will be finished up soon-ish :o)

This doesn’t work for me. It’s because you are using AJAX to post to / which does not work for installations that are not in the root.

You need to make it post to the variable ajaxurl which will post to the correct location regardless of where WP is installed.

Also – please read this: :)

It’s not in the plugin area on this site (thought it would be)… but DJ Paul mentioned it in this thread… near the bottom of the first page. Not sure if it works with 1.2 or if it even works at all yet! Sorry if I may have steered your wrong. Seems to be my theme for this thread. LOL :o)

WP single 2.9.2 BP 1.2 does not send tweet from forum posting. Activity updates work fine.

@blackphantom thanks for looking into it, I am checking it out as well.

RE: Filter: So whatever comma separated value is in the filter field will return the hashtag equivalent match on Twitter? ie: soccer would filter for #soccer, poker would filter for #poker

RE: Topic Reply: In my old forum software I used we had a “TwitThis” button. When we would reply to a forum post, we’d hit the TwitThis button and send a message like this to twitter: “Just responded to: Forum Topic Name: http://blahblah.com/topic.html&#8221;. It was a good way to engage people in the forum by catching their attention on twitter.

    Thanks!!

@blackphantom, bloody brilliant!! Fixed the 404 issue!

Here is where I am with what doesn’t work (WordPress 2.9.2 and BP 1.2)

    – I don’t see the filter for “Tweets” in the pulldown for the activity stream.

    – My Twitter > BP timestamp is off by 6 hours.

    – My Twitter > BP sync doesn’t work with (or I don’t understand) filters! It works when I remove the filters.

    Requests:

    – Extend the new forum topic “To Twitter” functionality to allow the same thing for topic replies.

Any of you who continue this thread any further are simply staring the ‘gift horse in the mouth’ so to speak.

~ spam in a problem for every company, be it IBM, Google or WordPress. These companies spend millions combatting it and it’s a problem for almost any CMS, or site that has UGC. If you can’t install Askimet, and/or a couple other preventative measures on your site, then you should hire someone who knows what their doing or you have a compromised(hacked) site where once again, you should hire someone who knows what they’re doing.

while not naming names ~ I have watched ‘your’ post on this forum and you’ve offered very little contribution and quite a bit of negativity. That doesn’t bode well for an open source community who provides you a product free of charge. Perhaps providing some meaningful feedback about your experiences will help the community develop better solutions instead of glaring accusations and harsh criticism? In fact your post in this community are very much like spam for the very same reason. At this point, you’ve pretty much hit an all time low since your accusing developers, many of whom work for free, of turning a blind eye towards the issue of spam. If you’re unhappy with website, may i suggest move on to another piece of software that is magically immune to spam robots, where you’ll most positively be a great asset, not only to them, but also with your absence here on the Buddypress Forums.

You have an old version of bp-default, please get the latest version of BuddyPress and delete the bp-default folder from your themes directory. You should not move the theme file.
