Keymastervtblogmu: No question is dumb. Go into a group, then go to that group’s forum page and you will be able to post.
ebellempire: Please create a new thread if you haven’t already, that issue isn’t to do with the original poster’s problem.

ParticipantI’m also having issues with the bbPress forum installation. Upon installation, the Forums navigation tab appears, but when clicked leads to a blank page. I have tried reinstalling several times. This is a brand spanking new installation of WPMU and BP.

February 19, 2010 at 3:04 pm #64157In reply to: Nothing appearing under "My Blogs"
David Lewis
ParticipantThe problem is that it seems to be random. I was hoping I’d be able to replicate it after I saw it happen again last night… but no dice. There’s no point creating a defect ticket if you can’t outline the steps to replicate the defect. If the developers can’t replicate it… they can’t fix it.
I searched on the WPMU forums too but didn’t find anything related to this issue.
With no user blogs at all, just the main blog, if you create a new user they have no blogs listed under “My Blogs”. That’s normal I guess since they did not create the main blog. So I log in as admin and make the new user an admin on the main blog. Now the main blog shows up under “My Blogs”. Also normal. The weird thing is that if I then REMOVE their admin privileges… the main blog STILL shows up under “My Blogs”. That doesn’t seem right.
Can anyone here remember what they did just before they started seeing the problem of disappearing blog listings / menus? Also… what are your privacy settings?

disbas
ParticipantMy users don’t see their blogs. Not in WPMU under My Blogs, not in the buddybar, not in buddypress under blogs.
If they directly visit the URL/wp-admin, the back-end is there. The blog is set to public (just double checked that).
My problem seems similar to the problem in https://buddypress.org/forums/topic/nothing-appearing-under-my-blogs

ParticipantI tried overwriting the file once again but didn’t work. How come deleting the whole folder and then uploading it again will do the job instead of overwriting everything?

ParticipantIf there’s a programmer out there willing to share the code and procedure for getting this done, without plaguing the forums here, please get in touch. I work well with programmers and would like some time on Skype to find out what code needs to go where. Please PM me a price and the approximate time you think we would need.

Participant@jfigura – thanks for the tip about avoiding WPMU DEV templates, lol.
Re: too many quirky things in BP – I’ve found that a software program is ‘nothing but’ a bunch of quirky things. But it sure would be great if some brilliant programmer could create a plugin to solve this issue – I would certainly DONATE!
@Peter – you are definitely right about the trend to store sign-up email password notifications – In fact, I have a folder in my Gmail labelled ‘passwords’ full of logins including the one for Buddypress and WPMU! (I’d be resetting my password everyday if I didn’t)
@Mike – I would be willing to live with the current BP password situation because I sometimes forget (or delete) my own passwords and need to reset them and never even bother creating a password I can remember.
Where I’m at now, is trying to figure out how the frig to change the message from WPMU so I can eliminate the password that does not work (it actually sends the correct username).
I tried changing the text in the WPMU Admin panel, but this seems to have no effect at all – So I’m posting at the WPMU forum trying to find out which file to change.
Any ideas would be welcome : )

ParticipantThanks Andy, looking really forward to it! As I have mentioned before – I like it very much as it is now (without a pointless extra tab) – but it doesn’t pull acitvity without visiting the admin-area and push the button (same stuff with some other issues on the twitter-plugin)
See my older thread with more detail here: https://buddypress.org/forums/topic/external-group-blogs-group-twitter-doesnt-work

ParticipantHi,
thanks for the link. I hadn’t found those plugins before, because I was looking for a plugin specifically for BuddyPress.
And most of those plugins do only redirect upon login through the original form, however they do not redirect when manually adding the “/wp-admin/” to the URL after being logged in. However, I was able to solve that with a custom filter hook, that checks if the visitor has admin rights in “admin_init”.
Regards,
Tobias
