ParticipantCould someone direct me to a complete guide about how to set up the forum at the buddypress end or post a guide in here (wasn’t able to find anything)?
I have set up bbpress, but when I click on post new in the group interface I just get a white page?

Participantbtw.. the only reason I don’t have buddypress installed right now is I got sick of all the problems trying to upgrade wpmu from 2.7.1 to 2.8.4a with buddypress involved.
So I took the nuclear route and wiped everything out with a fresh install of 2.8.4a
I am waiting until next week when buddypress 1.1 is finally official before I install it again.
Not to mention that prior versions of buddypress just didn’t like being installed onto a blog id other than 1. (I tried every ‘hack’ on these forums to get buddypress to place nice on blog id#30 but it never took)
I’m seriously hoping that buddypress has solved the issue of installing it onto a blog other than id#1 in the new buddypress 1.1

KeymasterLooks like there is a WordPress URL hack going around:
https://wordpress.org/support/topic/307660
Otto over at the WP forums suggests to upgrade as soon as possible, but I haven’t seen any reports on the WPMU forums yet.

ParticipantCorrection to the code above: In most cases it’s probably safer to just remove this from the INSERT query for ‘mailingusers’ (or whatever your mailing list uses):
users_id='$user_id',In ListMessenger this ID is incremental. If you force it take the same ID as used in WordPress you may get nasty errors.

KeymasterHey pengume,
You’re lucky! I didn’t have a copy of Burt’s XMLRPC debugger on my localbox, but I was able to find a copy off a server I used it on before!
Here’s the mirror:
To install, put “oci-bb-sayhello.php” in your “my-plugins” folder in your bbPress install and activate it in your bbPress admin area.
Then, put “oci-bp-sayhello.php” in your WPMU root folder and go to that file.
eg. hxxp://yourWPMUinstall.com/oci-bp-sayhello.php
If you have any errors, the script will output them; if there are no errors, you’ll get a “Hello from bbPress!” return message.
Hope that helps!

ParticipantHey r-a-y I tried to get to burts website and download his XMLRPC- debugger but his site is down or something it just says address can not be found. I have the same problem you did where I can not post to the group forum but a new forum gets created for the group on the forum’s main page. Not sure what to do at this point. Maybe you can send me an email with the debugger so i can check for the errors that are causing this.
I also tried downloading a new xmlrpc file and replacing it with my current one but no help there it was the same file size.
Thanks for any help or guidance to a solution,
Aaron.
Oh I am using all the up to date wpmu buddypress and bbpress software available.

Participant@John James Jacoby, i DL the zip from the trac. I can also confirm that there must be some issue with the trac zipper, because i don’t have a bbpress directory in buddypress/bp-forums/ directory.
@Andy: Should i still report this issue in trac?
I have another issue with the Side Wide Activity widget. It doesn’t show the status updates and some other things. Could this also be due to an issue with the zipper?

KeymasterHey gyonis,
For #1:
You’ll want to turn off blog registration and also set the default user role in WPMU to be “author”; that way everyone will be able to make a post on the root blog.
You can do this by going into your WPMU admin area and navigating to “Site Admin > Options”. Set “Allow New Registrations” to “Only user account can be created”. And set “Dashboard User Default Role” to “Author”.
For #2:
You’ll want to use some type of customized post screen plugin such as Flutter or my personal favorite Custom Field Template.
That should get you going!
You might also want to read this thread which talks about how to create a community blog.

KeymasterThe reason you have not found much on this on these forums, is because this questions are in WPMU’s domain. Have a search on their forums as these components aren’t provided or controlled by BuddyPress.

KeymasterWelcome Albert.
This has been covered quite a bit in the forums, so search around for a bit and see if you can find what you’re looking for. Long story short, it uses something dubbed “deep integration” for lack of a better term, but it isn’t recommended for everyone and will be an obsolete method soon.
September 3, 2009 at 6:23 pm #51977In reply to: P and BR tags not working in text/welcome widget
r-a-y
KeymasterYou’ve probably already tried removing and re-adding the Text widget, right?
The default text widget should always work… but you should check out the WordPress forums to see if anyone has a similar problem, since it’s more of a WP issue than a BP thing.
Do any other tags work besides P and BR in the Text widget?
One other thing to note is if you have any filtering plugins activated, that could affect the widget output, but it’s highly unlikely.

ParticipantYes I did under the installation forum, I thought I’d check to see if the troubleshooting forum had a solution since it appears to be more active. In addition, it was suggested to perhaps try two WPMU installations, I asked if two could be installed on the same server, but had no reply.

KeymasterEither client side spam filters, or one of the mail servers between the hosts refusing to deliver it.
WPMU deals with all the email sending, so I suggest you do a search on their forums to see if anyone has came across this specific issue before.

KeymasterThis is a feature built into WPMU (Site Admin > Options). This is also not a question about BuddyPress, so the WPMU forum would have been a more appropiate place.

ParticipantSo, it’s possible to transform the BP navbar (see above one that has Home, About, Blog, Forums, etc) into a drop down?
Does making a page a child affect this at all? It would be nice if making certain pages children, would create a drop down for you

ParticipantThanks again Jeff.
All these comments have to do with ID not functioning correctly after installation. My problem is that comments are gone from member blogs after removing ID completely.
ID clashes with WPMU and/or BP. I remembered that Mohit Kumar had posted a question about it here. I’ve posted a question about this on the WPMU forum as well.
I’ve searched on Google and the Intense Debate site, but what I’ve found so far is no encouraging. I’m now reinstalling my site…
Avoid Intense Debate!
EDIT1: Re-uploading the php files from before ID had no effect – as I kinda expected. So the problem must be in the database somewhere.
Now deleting the database, importing an earlier version…
EDIT2: Even reverting the database to the earlier version did not solve the problem. WTF??!!

Keymaster@21cdb, did you DL the zip from the trac, or did you SVN? I think there’s an issue with the trac zipper and it not including the external bbPress library. Can you verify that you have a bbpress directory in your buddypress/bp-forums/ directory?

ParticipantAs IntenseDebate exports your WP comments into its own system, your issue is more than likely caused by IntenseDebate misbehaving. Your best bet is to post a question on their support forums and let them help you track down the cause. I found these two related threads:
