I have just updated BP 1.2.8 to BP1.5.1 running on WP 3.2.1. I have the Friends component disabled.
I was wondering if automcomplete in private messaging in BP 1.5.1 should be working when the friends component is disabled. (When I enable the Friends component it DOES work).
I did have this working in BP 1.2.8. by following this advise http://bit.ly/uOJ1Pt from @r-a-y
The following didnt work:
– De-activitating all Plugins
– Changing theme to defaultWhen inspecting the Send To field it states that autocomplete is OFF. Shouldnt autocomplete be ON?
Could it also have to do with me moving WordPress from subdomain to root after update?
Any support is appreciated!!!
Hello guys, what I need is separate two account types (ie. private and business) and that should be done in the registration page. Obviously the displayed fields should be different if the account is private or not, so basically two registration pages. I wonder if there’s already a plugin, or this should be done manually. ive googled and i found something about the account types, but the informations were too old and i dont know if it work with the latest BP version. Any advice? thanks
s.Hello, I am new to buddypress, and am trying to build a page using the system, but am having trouble finding a couple solutions I would need. Maybe some of you know of a way to incorporate a row of skype hyperlinks to my member’s profiles. Here is basically a schematic of what I would need. I am not a php coder, but am looking into it just in case no one else can help me. It seems like it would be simple enough to create, but I havent found a plugin created yet.
1. This plugin would need to have 4 buttons under the regular set of buttons on the User Profiles that include Follow, Private Message, Friend, Public Message.
The buttons would be in a row under the above set of buttons and they would include:
Call Me :-
Add Me :-
Chat :-
Profile :-
Now I would have to include a Profile Field in Buddypress labeled SkypeID, and this skype id would have to replace YourUsername above.
Please help me, whether by teaching me how to do this or by creating it and sending it to me and sharing it with the rest of the Buddypress community. It sounds simple enough for someone who knows what they are doing.
When creating a new topic, one has to choose a single group forum from the “Post in Group Forum” dropdown menu.
Has anyone seen a way to share the topic amongst multiple groups?
Here’s a use-case:
Let’s say our university’s BuddyPress site has four groups: faculty, staff, researchers, and students. The faculty, staff, and researchers want to discuss where to hold their Christmas party. Students aren’t invited. How can the three groups discuss it privately?
A workaround would the the BP Group Hierarchy plugin, which allows for subgroups within groups. But that’s awfully clunky since you’d have to make every possible combination of a groups its own subgroup. Group Everyone, with subgroup faculty + staff + researchers; subgroup faculty + staff + students; subgroup faculty + students; etc. etc.
I created a private group for some administrators and they can’t seem to remember the password I created. I want to change the password to something they have chosen but don’t see a place in the Admin panel that lets me reset a the password. I’ve already changed the password for the private page we created, but the group has me baffled. Any suggestions?
Topic: Disable Private Groups
Is it possible to do this?
I need to be able send posts and replies between friends and have them
remain private.ASSUMPTIONS: User # 1 has 15 friends and User # 2 is a friend of User #1. User # 2 only has one friend, User# 1.
LEVEL 1 POSTS
I want to be able to have User #2 send a post directly to their friend User#1 but not have the friends of User #1 also see the post. The same would also applies to reply().
LEVEL 2 POSTS
User # 1 can send public post only to their friends which cannot be seen by the COMMUNITY.I’ve installed Friends Only Activity Stream
plugin by Sarah Gooding(@pollyplummer)
but all posts directed to a profile are seen by friends
of that profile. This is a medical site so at times a user may need to send multiple PRIVATE posts without having to Compose a private message.
Can somebody provide or did custom code a CSS ajax-loader for forums and messages?
The ajax-loader should show when somebody clicks “respond” to a forum topic and when sending / responding to a private message. Now, people often click twice, as the button does not provide feedback that the response has been submitted.
Such an ajax-loader now shows for Activity Updates and Activity responses, but not for Messages and Forums.
Thanks!
Topic: Save Message Drafts
I guess this is more of a feature request than an issue. I was wondering if there was a way to save drafts of private messages and site notifications?
Topic: How collect personal data
Hi, i’m struggling with private and public data. I want to collect personal data-fields at the first site-register(real name, adress, …). Now if do this, all this info becomes public in the member profiles, so nobody won’t do this.
Is there some plug which allows me to filter registerfields?
And how can i save this info? All i see is a username+emailaccount in my WP-backend-usersection.
How can i solve this?
grtzHi,
I am having problems with the activation email link and redirection.
When I cleck the activation link in the activation email it takes mt to an error page. THe URL it redirects to is
http://site.com/?my_redir_to=/??????????key=9f59f19033809738f375819b687a0f77
I have the Private Community plugin installed with the config file set up like this:
`MM_BUDDYPRESS_PRIVATE_COMMUNITY::$ALLOWED_URIS = Array(”,’/online-training’, ‘/register’,’/activate?key=*’,’/wp-login’);`
`MM_BUDDYPRESS_PRIVATE_COMMUNITY::$REDIRECT_TO_URL = site_url() . ”;`
`MM_BUDDYPRESS_PRIVATE_COMMUNITY::$REDIRECT_HOOK = ‘my_redir_to’;`Can someone offer any suggestion to fix this please.

Topic: Bad login redirect URL
Hello,
I have a buddypress install in a subfolder in a domain (ie, http://www.mydomain.com/buddypress). That is, http://www.mydomain.com has a WordPress install, and “/buddypress” is another different install. Both them are single Wordpres installs (not multiuser).
When you send a private message, you receive an email width the text “To view and read your messages please log in and visit: http://www.mydomain.com/buddypres/users/name/messages/” which is a correct URL.
If you click in the link (when logged out), you are redirected to a bad URL. This is:
As you can see, there are 2 “redirect_to” parameters. The text “redirect_to=/buddypress/” is not needed, and it’s causing the problem. If I delete it, it works fine and when you’re logged you are redirected to the messages page.
Any idea how to fix it? Thanks in advance.
