Topic: How to extend user profiles
Hey all,
I used BuddyPress for a while before and there was a way to add custom fields to the users profile “Base” so it would display more than just their name. I believe it was a plugin but I can’t seem to find it now. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I have task to convert existing community from custom made script to BuddyPress (I’m also checking other community scripts/solutions).I would like to know does some features of existing community can be applied to BP
1) Currently, members are divided into four Programmes and those Programmes have generations (like 2008, 2009, 2010,..). I have installed BP and there are Groups but without subgroups or something similar.
2) Members have different profile fields depending in which Programme participated (90% of fields are same). Is it possible to make something like this? Is it easier if only admin create users?
3) Community is almost 90% private and activity will be available only for logged in users. Also, some profile fields (Name, Surname, Group and Generation) are available for public view.
So, my biggest problems are different profile fields and more/deeper group levels.
I really like WP and BP, but not sure where to start cause I’m not that good familiar with BP.I am developing a plugin and I need to hide some profile fields. How can I call bp_has_profile() and pass a variable for
‘exclude_fields’ => $filed_IDS

Hello, I have installed the latest Buddypress version and I added a profile field using BP’s extended profiles. Problem is, when I put an emoticon in the field, it shows up as html. How can I resolve this issue? Thanks in advance!
I am running buddypress and profile content is showing up as html code as opposed to the text entered in the profile fields. Can someone help with this? I am not sure how to fix the bug.

Thank you @Hugo, but unfortunately there is no difference. Impact I tried to replace the whole members folder with the default buddypress members folder but still no change. The problem remains.
If I dnt want the link on the name ( Antonie Blake) and other profile fields then which line I have to delete from the php ? will it be solved then?I don´t know whats happening.
I’m new to buddypress, and I can’t find a tutorial on how to customize the way members are displayed. I want a directory where members can be sorted by an extended profile field, namely a particular skill.
My members are artists, so visitors to the site should be able to find them by genre i.e. painting. Preferably, I’d like visitors to be able to search by keyword, but also click on links to a predefined list of genres, to show all members in that category.
Sometimes, artists specialize in more than one genre i.e. painter, sculptor. – so I’m thinking of creating up to 3 fields, all dropdowns containing the same list of genres. Is there anyway to:
1: search only specific fields in a keyword search?
2: create links that will generate results for each genre
3: combine 1 and 2 on the buddypress members pageThank You for helping.

I created custom post type and one of meta fields will be list of buddypress members with chekboxes next ot them. Everything works great when I go to “Add new”, but when using Edit I always get info that no members were found.

The problem: I am trying to display BP profile field data (like a person’s title) along with data like an author’s name on posts they write on the site. I’ve tried everything, spending about six hours now trying to do members loops and trying just about every suggestion I could find here and elsewhere.
Can anyone help me figure out exactly how to display data from BP profile fields in WordPress posts?
