Hello can anyone help? :) ,
I keep getting errors like :
Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/saboodle/public_html/index.php:2) in /home/saboodle/public_html/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 866
I am using the newest versions of buddypress & wordpress. With the default theme.
These errors are not happening all the time , just when certain actions are done. The last two times is when a friend clicked on a link to my site from a message on facebook, and then again when I tried to update profile fields.

    @Marcella,

Although most of this is way over my head, it looks like you’re on to something great. Let me know if there’s anything I can do to help!

There’s no limit to the number (or type) of profile fields that you can use at the same time.

    Hi everyone

I know if posted already yesterday but I assume I asked to much at once. So I thought lets start with small steps.
I’ve searched already hours to find a solution to the following problem:
I’d like to have profiles for couples. So there will be a female and male.
So I think maybe it’s possible to change the xprofiles to have the possibility to add two fields. For example if I take the date-picker. Is it possible to show/use 2 Datepickers in xprofiel fields?

Thanks a lot for your help

    Membership – have you seen S2members? https://buddypress.org/community/groups/s2member/

The name, city ect, you can get that by default in buddypress via your wp-admin – go to buddypress/profile fields.

The profile stuff you can achieve by modifying the members/single/* files in your theme https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/building-a-buddypress-child-theme/

    Search – https://buddypress.org/community/groups/bp-better-directories/home/

To answer your last question – Pretty much. :) The only plugin i couldn’t find was the one that forces buddypress to do my laundry… :P

    – Single wordpress install version 3.3.1
    – BuddyPress version 1.5.3.1
    – The theme is called Torn 1.7.6 by Louis Zuno
    – Of plugins I have:
Akismet, bbpress, Bowe codes, BWP Google XML Sitemaps, Cubepoints, CubePoints Buddypress Integration, GD bbpress attachments, Maintainence Mode, Sociable, Social login, User role editor, wp e-commerce
    – I tried deactivating all the plugins and changing to the default buddypress theme, but that had no effect

    – WP/BP versions?
    – Single WP or WP multisite?
    – What theme are you using?
    – What plugins do you have installed?
    – Have you tried basic troubleshooting like changing to bp-default theme and deactivating all plugins except BP to see if issue is corrected?

Hmm would be cool to add that feature. Has anyone out there done this?

Newly-added mandatory fields stay unset until a user goes to edit their profile (for whatever reason); then they must set them.

I even changed to a buddypress theme and am still having this issue. The profile fields are not showing on the search option form.

    Hi,

Just wondering, if and when I add additional mandatory fields to profiles, are my existing users notified the next time they log in that they need to enter this information before proceeding? If not, would these mandatory fields remain blank?

    Thanks! :)

Hi man, yeah pretty much. You’ll connect the dots in the back-end and the previously discussed functionality will be applied on the front.

Does seem fairly bespoke though, and wouldn’t necessarily define this as “much needed” as the information can always be captured later.

All depends on the audience though, also…. if you need to capture specific information from others and don’t care how they use the site afterwards then you could use a Gravity Form.

Wow that looks great!! So if I understand it right depending on what role the user selects on the drop down menu at the buddypress registration the relevant registration form will show up below?

The screenshot looks awesome and I think the ability to direct users on 1st stage to specific xprofiles group will be a much needed addition to bp, especially for us novices

Ahhh “search_terms” Is what I was missing. I was looking for the “fields” which would only yield the contents of the profile fields correct?

Would I really need to use a loop? Doesn’t the search_terms inherently search all profiles with that term and display the search terms page?

I mean all I would need to do is display all search terms as links (just as they would display on a profile page) in a navigation bar on the member directory.

Another way to do this would be if you can allow people to use tags in the signup form. Essentially all I am looking for is some type of taxonomy I can use for members that the members set for themselves. I am not married to the idea of using the search_terms.

@Lindsayannb – Essentially what you would want to do is utilise the built in “search_terms” parameter (which your already using for the profile fields links) and modifying the searchterm based on what is selected via the dropdown menu – https://codex.buddypress.org/developer-docs/custom-buddypress-loops/the-members-loop/

Haven’t looked indepth into this specific loop yet, (and i’m not sure if it will work on a directory page) but their is a profile field loop which might help… (https://codex.buddypress.org/developer-docs/custom-buddypress-loops/the-profile-data-loop-bp_has_profile/)

    Thinking something like this.

Still struggling to see how it would work for more than the 1st stage / 1st option directing to the xProfile Group associated with that.

Although that might be my lack of understanding the possible direction a user may take when building out their registration fields.

This interface might confuse users, Google + / Groups / BuddyPress / ahhh head aches.

Will probably opt in for a simple drop down on either side.

I think a plugin would be a great addition to bp..I would believe more users would like to be able to create different registration profile fields for different users (dating sites, networking sites, job sites etc.,..that’s a good question..maybe something simple in the bp admin like the buddypress user account type plugin…or maybe is it possible to create the plugin as add on to the main Extended Profile Fields menu?

I wish I could be more of a help..
    Cheers, Bojan

I actually thought this was a core feature, but I guess I was wrong.

My website is going to rely heavily on the fact that members will sign up so that they could be listed in the members directory. The goal is to create a community of professionals who can use each other’s services when the need arises instead of going to an outside company.

I have set up custom profile fields and have one field that has a list of options and check boxes. What I would love to do is use those options as user categories – essentially filtering members by them.

I know that this is partially completed using the Custom Profile Fields Filter which allows me to set specific profile fields as “clickable” tags that the user can utilize to find people who answered that field the same.

So I have the ability to link to all profiles with OPTION1 selected but what I would need help with is how to create a menu on the member directory page that lists all options for this field and clicking them would bring you to a list of all members with that option selected.

It seems like it would be easy, but looking in the codex all I could find were functions regarding groups and very little regarding profiles and profile fields.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hey @bojan85

Guess there is a small need for a plugin like this.

I’m trying to visualise how you would configure a plugin to meet the requirements you need and also any others like @davidveldt

    Possible scenarios?

Multiple routes for registration depending on which items were selected at the “required” stage.

If this was to come “out the box” with BuddyPress, how would you expect to set this registration up within wp-admin / bp-admin?

    @marcella1981,

Hey Marcella, first of all thank you for taking the time to help us, What I am trying to do is very similar as david have two different registration forms depending if their user role is an athlete or coach. I have the regular Bp default theme with the frisco theme, and latest wp and bp.

I have been trying to figure it out for a couple days but cant seem to move forward..where in the register.php do i enter the php code and jquery script? I tried a couple different places..I have matched the group fields with the $roles array I’m guessing thats the only thing im doing right so far…

Sorry for the all the questions I am a beginner at all this..Any tips or help how to move forward would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi Guys,

Sorry if this is an easy one. I’ve googled for hours and hours but have had no luck.

I have a buddypress site that i want to have three different user types on. On the first registration page, there should be a few generic fields such as username, email and password. Then there should be an option at the bottom to be one of the three user types that i mentioned before.

Once registration has been completed, the user should then be directed to their profile page with the options to complete more fields, which are visible to anyone viewing the profile.

These additional profile fields should be unique, dependant on which of the three user types were chosen on the original registration page.

I have tried using the in built ‘profile fields’ options and various ‘role’ and ‘user type’ plugins but i cannot get anything to work.

Any help is hugely hugely appreciated.

    Thank you guys.
