    Tyvm for the reply.

It seems I get redirected to a 404 page when the resend activation email link is clicked.
Here’s the path that leads to it.
    /wp-login.php?action=bp-resend-activation&id=3586&_wpnonce=1fc8482a5b
Most likely a plugin conflict since I hide wp pages from the public.

I’m trying to do something similar like the code below.
    class=”bp_registration_needs_activation”>Resend Activation Email

Hello! Does anyone know how I can edit the registration form so that the wordpress name and the buddypress username is the same? People get confused at sign up and when their profile is created, they have two names. I was hoping for a function that would automatically populate the buddypress username field with the same value that is in put in the wordpress username area….but I can’t figure it out.

I came across a topic that they somehow hid the wordpress name field and had it populated dynamically with the buddypress username at sign up, but they haven’t responded to offer any insight on accomplishing this. If this has been addressed, please point me in the right direction. I’m surprised that there isn’t more documentation on this, as it is definitely confusing and redundant.

    Thank you.

I need it to happen during the registration process when they don’t have a user ID and it needs to add them to the group based on a drop down field in Gravity Forms.

I’ve seen my question, sort of, posted before with no resolution. I’m setting up a site for a karate class business and we are using Buddypress for each location. I’m using Gravity Forms for the registration and I’m trying to find out if there is a way to automatically enroll the registrant into a specific group based on the location they choose. I’ve seen plugins that will work using the native Buddypress registration but we are using Gravity Forms because there is payment involved and it’s a multi-part form. Before I use my second option, I’d like to know if there is some filter or action that would allow addition to a specific group during the registration process. Also, these are private groups because they will contain children’s information.

    Thanks

    Hi guys

I have created a user role of member by copying the capabilities of contributer. Not sure if that is correct or should have copied subscriber. The problem I am really having though is that members are not showing up in the member list on the front end.

I also have BP Registration Options plugin installed to make BuddyPress private which does work with keeping it private… 🙂

Please ask any questions as really not sure why people are not showing up…mmmm btw the do show up in the back end… 🙂

Hi @arbolife any chance you even vaguely remember what you did to get new user activation email being sent out when using WPML + BuddyPress? Like you, everything works 100% correctly on the ‘English’ side when new users register, requests membership for a private BP group, logs-in, etc – BUT if a user registers on the french registration page (fr/register/) they never get any emails (I they are foever listed as “pending” in the user area). I’ve also noticed that no emails (outgoing) get triggered if an existing user switches to the /fr/ side & tries to join a private BuddyPress group. Trying to access the /fr/wp-login.php page (or the password reset) from the /fr/ side will also trigger a 404 page. So, like you mentioned, it’s a setting “somewhere” in WPML to resolve these (many) anomalies, but for whatever reason, I can’t see to find the resolution!

    My test setup:

    WP: 3.7.4
    BP: 2.8.2
    WPML: 3.7.0
    BuddyPress WPML Plugin: 1.5.5.1

If you’re talking about this specific instance where a user has registered a site during registration:

Must change BLOG_URL and user-site.url from http to https

Then, I’ve added a fix for this here:

You should use HTTPS throughout your site if you want to force the email to use SSL links.

Or force HTTPS on individual pages like the registration page so activation email links will use SSL.

The other alternative is filtering the email tokens to use HTTPS:
    https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/2.8.2/src/bp-core/bp-core-functions.php#L3120

If you’re a WordPress developer, hook on to the 'bp_after_send_email_parse_args' filter and do checks against the 'tokens' array key.

For more info on the 'bp_after_X_parse_args' filter, see:
    https://codex.buddypress.org/developer/using-bp_parse_args-to-filter-buddypress-template-loops/

I have WordPress MU enabled with sub-domains and Buddypress 2.8.2 plugin network activated. I am using Buddyboss Boss 2.1.3 Child Theme. I also have a Comodo Wildcard SSL Cert
The thing I am trying to figure out is how can I make the registration confirmation email produce a link with https. As it is now I am getting http which when clicked on sends me back to my home page. If I manually put the url in the browser using https I get to the sub-site front page.

    The site is https://atblogpages.com
I have also started this topic in wordpress.org support

I know there is a way to get this correct.
Any help? Please. Thanks in advance.

It sounds like you might not have migrated the DB tables properly.

If possible, try and set up a local install with the same DB tables to try and duplicate the problem.

I need to know if it’s possible for the facebook registration setting in buddypress to only pulled the last name of the user and not his full name. I have a client who wanted this feature. So I am wondering what are the ways to prevent facebook from displaying your full name in buddypress profile?

the website is for dating purpose and the client told me it is forbidden to display your full name there. So I need suggestion.

    any help would be appreciated.

For example i have the exact same contact form as the register page on the site so if i submit the form post data to site.com/register will it register?

The registration URL is whatever you have set in the WP “Pages” menu. Look for the “Register” page to double-check, but the default is site.com/register.

Did you try POSTing to site.com/register URL? If so, what happens?

Basically how would i register a user from outside the site in code

You can just use wp_insert_user() if you need to register a user into WordPress.

If you want to use BP’s signup function, use bp_core_signup_user().

Nevermind! I just found the article in the documentation that mentions a logged in user clicking the register link will redirect to the homepage so as not to create a duplicate registration.

    Hey everyone,

I’m having trouble setting up a registration page. I have my buddy press settings configured to have my register page set to http://www.sackvillephotoclub.com/registration, but this keeps redirecting to the homepage. Am I missing something?

    Thank you!

    Hi,

I would like to add a dropdown list to the buddypress registration form on my website http://www.islandopp.com, to give users creating an account the ability to select their user role (eg. candidate or employer). What can I add to the register.php page to complete this?

I have attempted to add the dropdown list in the profile fields section of the registration form, however, when users activate their account, their role is the WP default free subscriber.

-I am using BuddyPress and s2member. My registration page is located at http://islandopp.com/register/

It’s responsive for WordPress default themes like one of the Twenty themes.

    @hnla
    – Perhaps we should extend responsive support for the registration screen to bp-legacy / bp-nouveau directly instead. I know breakpoints will be an issue, but we could probably settle on a width.

The log-in page is a WordPress page. There is a guide on how to customize it:
    https://codex.wordpress.org/Customizing_the_Login_Form

The registration page is created by BuddyPress and can be modified in many ways. You’ll need to understand theme compatibility and overriding templates:

    Theme Compatibility & Template Files

So you could create your own copy of buddypress/members/register.php in your theme to make big changes, or potentially hook into the action bp_before_register_page to just add some html to top of the BP page.

    Best of luck.

Plugins from BP active: BP,BP Group Documents,Buddyforms Members, BP activity Plus, BP Docs, BP Group Calendar, BP Group Email, BP registration groups,

    I just installed and activated Video Conference plugin by video whisper and I get the following error;

Warning: Declaration of videoConferenceGroup::display() should be compatible with BP_Group_Extension::display($group_id = NULL) in /home/wp_5cnhby/ntcep.org/wp-content/plugins/videowhisper-video-conference-integration/bp.php on line 51

I deactivated all of the plugins with BP Group in the name and the error remains.
Any idea where I can find and set the $group_id to something besides NULL.

I had a problem when the user try to activate the account through the link sent by email.
    The line looks like http://domain.com/bpact/6b41ee63c8e93674/
After go into the link, the page will jump to the homepage without loading anything in activate.php.
    activate.php is in /wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-themes/bp-default/registration.
