    Why is registration form important?

There is a bug with blank page for the registration page, user profile edit page etc. etc. if theme contains ‘theme.json’ file but no ‘templates/index.html’ file (not block theme)

It can be fixed by adding this code into your ‘functions.php’ file or in the ‘after_theme_setup’ hook:

    remove_theme_support( 'block-templates' );

We have spend almost two days to manage this problem.

    Hello all,

I have bbpress and Buddypress installed and the problem I’m having is the difference between the WP registration, buddypress registration and bbpress registration. Do they all end up being the same user in WP? For some reason when some people register they can’t log onto the other BBpress or BuddyPress portions.

How can I trouble shoot or resolve this or make it so there is ONE registration and one user?

    Thank you

I just updated to 10.5 and tested user registration with no issues – members and groups pages also OK.
    I use the theme BuddyX.

    Hi,

I have a custom email notification with a custom action (based on this article – https://codex.buddypress.org/emails/custom-emails/ ), and it’s working, but it doesn’t currently allow the user to subscribe to or unsubscribe from the custom email nortification.

I would like to add this custom notification as an option in the email notification settings form in the member profile, and I would then want to use those settings in the send-function of the email.

I’ve been searching the web and forums forever and couldn’t find much helpful information about how to achieve this.

It seems there is a registration mechanism, as there are plugins that offer to override user preferences, and there are functions that sound like they have something to do with this mechanism, like – bp_nouveau_member_email_notice_settings(). But I couldn’t find any document that actually helped me register the custom email notification or explain how to access that information prior to sending the mail.

Maybe someone here can help? Thanks a lot for any idea!

Hi I believe it’s a theme issue and advise you to contact the support team of your theme to understand the issue.

If you want to be sure it’s a theme issue, activate any other WordPress default theme like Twenty Twenty-Two, you should see the registration form is displayed into this theme.

If not, then it’s probably another plugin conflicting with BuddyPress, deactivate each plugin one by one and when the registration form is back, you’ll have found the problematic plugin.

All this was written into this sticky topic

    Hi there,
I’m having an issue with BuddyPress registration.
When I create a new account I never get the confirmation email. But the member gets registered on the website. As admin I can see that member in the members menu. When I manually make that member active, I still can’t log in.

I have tried every single setting.
-Creating New Pages for Registration & Activation
-In setting I ticked: Anyone can join
-Deactivating all the plugins accept BuddyPress.
-Putting in PHP code to activate the email
    -Even tried WP Mail SMTP

WP Mail SMTP didn’t really help. Before using it I tried sending “reset password” to new member. It went through. When I used WP Mail SMTP the emails were going to spam. So the email address is all correct on my website.

I wasted 9 hours trying every single solution I was finding on internet and nothing work.
If you know a fix for this issue, please let me know.

What I am missing most as as a new user of buddy press:
–> an easy way to create a registration page and user profiles (including fields required to apply for user regsitration)

If you know how to add code snippets to your site then this could help …

    How to redirect after registration?

How do I add a registration page to BuddyPress ?

    Hello,

We’re having an issue with users being automatically allowed in forums if an already approved member invited them.

Besides removing the invitation link from the notification email, is there another solution to avoid these users from being automatically approved when registering using the custom registration link?

Our actual configuration is to disallow everyone from registering in WP General settings, and then checking invitations and membership requests in the Buddypress Options Settings.

    Thank you for your help,

    Frank

I’ve had problems with my Elementor Pro and Essential Addons Pro for Elementor built login/registration page for some time now. After troubleshooting, I’ve found a conflict with Rank Math, but after Rank Math, Elementor and Essential Addons for Elementor all troubleshooted the problems, I was told the problem is caused by BuddyPress and that I needed to contact BP to get assistance.

The user (not admin) login page on the site is extremechickens.com/login-registration-x/

    WP: 6.0.2
    BP: 10.4.0
Astra Pro theme. (Problem happens even when switched to theme twenty twenty.)
Cloudways hosting provider – Vultr server
    Cloudflare
    BuddyPress Nouveau

I’m not sure what else you need from me, but feel free to let me know.

    Thanks!

    Possible options to look at:

    – verification email on signup is a must.

    – Plugin “BP Restrict Signup By Email Domain” ….lets you restrict new signups to gmail, yahoo, hotmail etc. Will prevent 99% of spam-bot registrations (eg. s.p.a.m.m.e.r. at spambot dot xyz).

    – Plugin “BP Registration Options” …holds all new signups in a moderation queue until manual approval by admin, during which time they can’t interact with Buddypress components (and I assume cannot create new groups).

    Just some suggestions.

Our site is at http://www.gleanr.com.au. We are using Buddy press 2.0 and WordPress latest version. We have an issue with new members joining our site and creating spam groups. We are examining ways of stopping them from registering by using two factor registration. This should reduce it and we are also looking at WP plugin linked to an external spam domain list service to reduce this issue at entry to our site. However the group creation process is really another issue and at present we have no way of controlling the groups being created, other than looking at the list of groups each day and deleting the ones we feel are spam. Are there any WP tools that will alert our site admin and/or give us more control over groups being used specifically for spam. Thanks

Seems I wrote too much? I will post in two parts:

Hi @hcmendez, I am trying to do exactly the same thing myself and found the post your referenced, which was now made 10 years ago! I have developed a staging test site for a Radio Club, where registration is disabled and all user accounts will be set up for the users. There are 3 levels of membership: member, editor and admin – each with separate user roles. I have a group called “ROC Members” which all levels of membership are in and I do not want them to have the ability to leave (so want to remove the Join/Leave Button from this group (I can manage members from WP backend).

After some experimentation, I have found a rather poor “workaround”, by adding an extra ‘if’ statement to the code in plugins -> buddypress -> bp-groups -> bp-groups-template.php (where the extra code above is from), which is far from ideal as it can get overwritten on buddypress update.

Hi- I’m trying to create a normalized “organization” field as part of our registration process. I have over 100,000 schools that a user could choose from, which could be filtered by post-code.

None of the form plugins I’ve explored have a way for addressing that… would anyone here have suggestions?

    Many thanks in advance

I downloaded and using budypress. I have done everything such as activate everyone can register, create a register page login page, assign pages to components and others but the registration page and login page did not automatically create, what should do

JKDuck, actually you need to go to “Settings”, “General” and in the “Members” option check the box “Anyone can register”. It will automatically create your “registration page”.

    See ya.
