It’s related to BuddyPress deprecating some forum functions and not loading the deprecated code properly.

In the meantime, check your theme’s /groups/single/home.php and remove the conditional to bp_is_group_forum() and that should fix your problem.

    Hi there,

Try switching your theme to 2017, that’s a default theme that will allow you to discount any further issues with your current theme. I’m running BP Group Documents myself and not seeing that problem.

Just looking at it again I found the BuddyPress info on the page. It all seems to be hidden. Try switching to the 2017 theme and see if you can see it then

I have now tried everything except rollback.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled buddypress. I have deactivated every single plugin except buddypress and I have even switched to the twenty-seventeen theme, with no custom code or anything. I am still getting an error when I add a user to a group. The error in my log says this:

Call to undefined function groups_record_activity() in /wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-groups/bp-groups-functions.php:588

So it seems the error is certainly to do with buddypress itself, right? Anyone got any suggestions?

It seems either you or your theme has overloaded legacy file that is calling a deprecated function, if you did not set up this overload I’d get onto your theme authors to get them to update their theme.

The other thread indicated that this is a theme issue, so you should raise this with the thee authors, and in the meantime rollback to BP 2.9.4 there’s a link to the zip file, so all you would need to do is deactivate and delete BP from your plugins directory and them install the old bp by using the upload option when adding the plugin.

I just checked my site and Group Docs, BP Docs and Group Extras are all working fine with BP 3.0. Think you are going to have to be more speicific about your config – could this be a theme issue?

    Hi,

I just wanted to follow this up. @awpt that doesn’t do anything for my situation at all unfortunately. Are you saying it may be a custom theme problem?

I’ve noticed another issue, if adding users to a group, even in the backend, it also gives a 500 error.

I am going to try and roll-back to 2.9.4, though I am not sure I 100% understanding the instructions given here, but I’ll give it a go.

    Thanks

Im using rtmedia and buddypress together new version and buddypress legacy templates of the version 2.9.4 in my theme, everything is working fine when you remove two php lines in two files which you can find here in the forums.

I think the new buddypress is much faster, the speed is much better than before.

@vapvarun i think you’re probably right, its’ most likely a problem with the theme. I’ll check with OneSocal Theme support.

@warrencorrales check with OneSocial theme support, they might have to update legacy template files.

    Notify the Invite Anyone author:
    https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/invite-anyone
    https://github.com/boonebgorges/invite-anyone

I did a quick test and Invite Anyone works with a WordPress default theme. Sounds like a problem with your theme, but I’m not sure how BuddyPress 3.0 would break that change.

I had to revert the site to the last backup to fix the issue.

I’m was upgrading to 3.0 from Buddy press Version 2.9.4 using the One Social Child theme. Upgrading to buddpress 3.0 breaks my Invite anyone page and also the profiles setting page.

I’m unsure whats causing this and how it can be fixed.

@uncooluser you will also have subtabs under friends
    1) Friendships
    2) Requests

With Request subtab, you can always find all pending friend requests

For Avatar image, you can set default Avatar size https://codex.buddypress.org/themes/guides/customizing-buddypress-avatars/

@zaheedmanuel try to replicate it with Default WordPress theme, it seems Kleo specific issue you will need to contact the theme authors.

No worries! I fixed the issue.

This is what I did. I located the activate.php file in the theme files and then edited the lines using this link > https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/changeset/11766/trunk/src/bp-templates/bp-legacy/buddypress/members/activate.php

thanks everyone!! You make close this topic 🙂

It sounds like your theme needs to be updated.

The Kleo theme needs to update the activate.php template.

Please let the Kleo authors know about this change:
    https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/changeset/11766/trunk/src/bp-templates/bp-legacy/buddypress/members/activate.php

If Kleo is based on an older bp-default theme, then this change might be more applicable:

This is a volunteer only operation, theres a jobs board to post invites.

Maybe you should check my site BuddyPressUser dot com, I wrote a lot of articles aimed at the begineer, that should be of help.

I’m not sure what setup you have got but if you set it up running the 2017 theme, only BuddyPress running, do you still not see those extra fields?
