ParticipantOK thank you for your help. I resolved the problem.
Since BP Template Pack did copying, files’ owner and group has been set as web server’s user. And in FTP program, I didn’t notice the error that said “overwrite failed”

I chowned files/folders and there is no problem now.

ParticipantHere is my style file header:
`/*
Theme Name: Apart2
Theme URI: http://www.bascek.com
Description: Another WP theme.
Author: Gokhan Ozturk
Version: 1.0
Tags: buddypress
*/`I don’t think that any file is missing since everything works fine except BuddyPress.
Is there a way to debug this issue?

InactiveThen your missing something essential in your theme. Otherwise it would work. It could be a single line of code in the style.css or elsewhere.

InactiveYour probably missing some files for the theme to function correctly with BuddyPress. Can you take a snapshot of your themes folder so we can see if anything is missing?

@mercime
ParticipantJust add the following to your theme’s style.css or custom.css file
`li.bbp-forum-info,
li.bbp-topic-title {
width: 50% !important;
}`October 15, 2012 at 12:40 am #143455@mercime
Participantrename buddypress folder back to normal in wp-content…
then just rename the plugins folder to e.g. wp-content/plugins-xxx and that will take care of all the plugins. then after you get in wp-admin, rename the plugins folder back to normal.
activate buddypress, activate bp-default theme first, then activate the plugins one by one.

@mercime
Participant@nealw Curious, does the same email activation issue come up if you change to BP Default theme and activate bbPress plugin?
October 15, 2012 at 12:17 am #143448@mercime
Participant@fonemi Have not encountered this before but I would go first with removing the “buddypress” tag from your theme’s style.css file. Which WP theme are you using with the BP template pack plugin?

Participant@peaceloveanarchy Rename Custom Community theme folder in server to e.g. wp-content/themes/custom-community-xxx via ftp/filemanager/etc. then go to wp-admin

Participant@ript247 not quite sure what you mean. Your issue is not related to this topic so do start a new topic . and provide more information than what you gave above https://buddypress.org/community/groups/creating-extending/forum/

ModeratorYou do not need to create every page. Just the component directories.
Are you using a BP compatible theme?

Participant@WPwebbouw I’m using my own custom theme and used the custom theme plugin for it.
@modemlooper I have done that. I used one I made in the past that works on other pages and even made another one with the code that was in this forum also and that didnt work. I just cant figure this out haha.
I noticed all of the pages “members, activity, etc” never needed code int he page for it to work. I did put [bbp-forum-index] in the page for the forum to pop up.

ParticipantThanks for response @modemlooper I just switched to the community theme I like it so far, going to play around with it a little. Does this plugin work for this theme also? or do I have to add the above mentioned code?
October 14, 2012 at 6:51 pm #143426modemlooper
ModeratorNot sure, could be JavaScript or a theme issue. Always activate BP default to rule out theme issues. Also deactivate plugins and go through each one.

I have been reading the post for the next steps and I am not sure what to do from here. Could you please explain how to get the profile page to link to main menu items. I am using bp community theme.

ParticipantHi I had a site wide issue and had to start from scratch, but for some reason I do not have a user profile page. I created a page but it just gives me a page. I was wondering if by adding adding a child theme will this help my problem?
October 14, 2012 at 1:04 pm #143413Tammie Lister
ModeratorThe ones that don’t have an image are they using gravatar to get the image or uploading? Do you get the same issue when you use BuddyPress default theme or are you using that already?

ParticipantIf you are using the bp-default theme, it appears the forum uses the page.php template. You could alter this template (in a child theme) by removing the sidebar. Then in the css remove margin-right: 225px; from div#content .padder. Probably you must add a selector to affect only the forum page, e.g. .forum-archive div#content .padder { margin-right: 0}
As page.php is also used for pages, you could make a new page-sidebar.php to use for pages where you want to have the sidebar. You can use page.php for other pages where you don’t want a sidebar as well.

ParticipantAh nevermind! It seems it’s part of the theme design. I’ve gone ahead and posted on their forums on how to get it back. Thanks anyway!
