    Thank you both so much for the response! BuddyPress 1.7 being compatible with all WP themes will definitely be a life saver for many people, searching for answers I have run across an unexpected amount of people in my same situation. A lot of those people I’m sure and have seen that you two have talked to in the past. Great to see people like your trying to help the unfortunately not as skilled “n00bs” in the community…

    I guess I will just continue to tinker and see what I can figure out or stumble across. It seems that most buddypress themes I have run across do not fit the design elements my company is looking for. The theme I am currently working with is called “WallBase”. Have either of you ran across someone trying to implement buddypress into this theme?

    I would be very annoying if you ask how (where i find the code). Thanks anyway.

    Then again you could always reverse engineer the code in Status and add it to a child theme running under bp-default.

    Thanks Hugo for the quick reply. I was hoping that would happen somehow.

    It isn’t sadly, that is custom code designed for the Status theme.

    You could download a plugin like this: https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/safecss/ and add these lines of css to your style sheet, or If you have a created a child theme, you can just add these lines to your style.css file

    `.field-visibility-settings-toggle {
    display:none;
    }

    .field-visibility-settings-notoggle {
    display:none;
    }`

    @twc01 Based on source of your page, you’re now using the Risen theme which is quite different from the Paradise theme we set up above.

    Start a new topic and along with the code for the page.php file, post also the code for header-page.php, header.php, sidebar-primary.php and footer.php

    @theone85ca what theme are you using? First time I’ve heard that the adminbar was removed by the BP template pack plugin. Site URI?

    In addition to what mrjarbenne said above, for your reference there are “template-packed” WordPress themes at https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/wordpress-to-buddypress-theme/#template-packed-wordpress-themes

    As an initial step, you need to activate this plugin: https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-template-pack/ to create the folders necessary to make BP play nice with your theme. I will say that it is still clunky at that point, and may need some massaging. If you aren’t comfortable tweaking CSS, you may be better served choosing a Buddypress Theme, rather than trying to get a WordPress theme to work.

    The Devs are aware of this and are currently building Theme Compatibility right into the plugin: you can read more about that here: http://wpmu.org/coming-in-buddypress-1-7-compatibility-for-all-wordpress-themes/ You may want to wait for this if you are integrating into an established site and you don’t want to change themes.

    @crazyalcayne I assume you installed and activated the BP Template Pack if you’re using a WP theme. So which theme are you using? We have a list of “template-packed” themes @ https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/wordpress-to-buddypress-theme/#template-packed-wordpress-themes

    I’ve tried various themes, with the same problem, so it is definitely BuddyPress

    I’ll post first draft of plugin later today so people can test and see if UX is ok. It has a few quirks because we are tricking WP to use a dynamic URL when only static links can be saved in admin. But I think it’s worth it. Especially with 1.7 theme compat.

    When you installed did you save the settings on the BuddyPress page – so that you link pages to sections in BuddyPress?

    In the case of a blank page if the above isn’t true you would be best checking your hosting logs as a white page can mean an error that would show up in those. Another method you can try is removing plugins and going to the default BuddyPress theme (keep BuddyPress as a plugin though). This way you can get things working with BuddyPress then add to that once it’s up and running.

    I activated the bp-default theme and ran the installation wizard again…and again. i deleted BP, deleted all other plugins, reinstalled BP and had the same problem. Step 1..2…3 then back to Step 1. No matter what I choose for my permalink setting or what I choose as the theme iBP will not complete the install.

    Back to deleting BP and trying something else. Maybe an answer here will get me to try again.

    == . Also, still doesn’t work with wp_framework, ==

    @jeffthink You’re welcome. Glad you finally resolved this issue :-) WP Framework theme has not been updated for some time and should not be used with current BP/WP versions.

    I created a ticket that also shows a fix I have working in a child theme for this: https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/4535

    OK, so re-installing the default buddypress theme worked. I had tried switching back to the default from wp_framework theme before, and that didn’t seem to work. Took full on re-install of buddypress theme. Also, still doesn’t work with wp_framework, so will go looking for another theme instead that does work. Thanks for the help.

    @gregfielding if your using a child theme then wrap the code in the header that pulls the header image. Just make sure you do it dynamically using the proper tags.

    The text is clickable, if you use that option. But if you upload a header image and disable the text, the image is not clickable.

    Seems like an oversight perhaps…
