    @sudeepacharya current BP 1.6.1 is *not* compatible with WP 3.2.1. You should be upgrading your WP to 3.4.1 version. However, if you cannot do so at this time, you’d need to use BuddyPress version 1.5.1

    @dalagonash cool. glad you got Step 3 on your own :-)

    I would suggest copying some style modifications for Twenty Ten theme posted at https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/theme-dev-bp-template-pack-walkthrough-twenty-ten-bp-1-5/3/ to remove the bullets in your unordered lists as well as bring in the width of the item navigation and the like. Adjust to taste.

    All tagged versions in the SVN repository still exist and can always be downloaded.
    https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags – not sure where the zip files are.
    Not sure though why there would be a difference between 1.5.7 and 1.6 you may want to pass that by the theme authors.

    You need to use / choose your theme not select BP out of the box

    Yep, appears to be a theme issue. Thanks.

    So per the last reply to this thread, if my template, wootheme “Delicious Magazine” is not listed on the codex template doc, then would that be the reason why when I installed buddypress to my website, it does not seem to work? Everything appears to have installed correctly, only I cannot find BP other than on my dashboard. There does not even seem to be a place where people can sign up on my website. I am so confused…

    I think I may have the same problem? I installed the buddy pack, but nothing seems to work….I am actually having difficulty finding it. No idea where people can register on my website. I have the Woo Themes “Delicious Magazine” template. Wondering since I did not see it listed on your codex page, BuddyPress may not be compatible with my website? Any form of help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!

    Apologies overflow has been fixed (must’ve just taken a while for the changes to show). Still the overlap on a smart phone but not a massive deal

    Sidebars are now fitting in nicely, picture has been taken out but horizontal overflow is still there. I added the code from codex page to Themeblvd child theme style.css
    The page name is also coming down on top of the ‘search’ field on an iPhone, I’m not too worried about that, although i don’t actually need the search function in case it was easy to just delete.
    Thanks again for your help, slowly getting my head around it :-)

    You have to create a child theme first.
    Than you can modify the members-loop by adding a contitionnal tag for loged-in users into
    your_theme/members/members-loop.php

    All CSS changes (and others) must be done from within your child theme. That’s the reason of the child theme 😉
    If you do that in bp-default, they gone at the buddypress next update

    @ed161718 page.php requires content-page.php and I need the code to the latter to complete the instructions.

    == the sidebars are showing up under the main content ==

    Hmm, fixing alignment about should have resolved that. I’ll check your site in a moment.

    == what is the relevance of the M Flora Peterson picture ==

    Sorry about that :-/ I was comparing the codes of both Akita and Alyeska https://buddypress.org/community/groups/installing-buddypress/forum/topic/customising-alyeska-theme-for-buddypress/ which had that image and forgot to delete it from code posted. I’ve deleted it above now.

    == page heading, members bar and second divider are also out of place ==

    Did you add the styles from codex page I referred to above? That would have taken in the horizontal overflow of the item and sub navigation elements.

    Thanks for all your help @mercime I followed it to a T although some issues still remain, the sidebars are showing up under the main content (I’ve now disabled them). Also what is the relevance of the M Flora Peterson picture, I definitely don’t want that on my pages! Also the page heading, members bar and second divider are also out of place, more so when looking at the page on a mobile

    @zillabuggs first time I heard about this issue in the Group Forums. Is bbPress plugin (Sitewide Forums) also activated? WP/BP versions? What theme are you using? What plugins are activated in your installation?

    OK, so the problem is in your configuration, rather than your theme / plugins.

    A few suggestions to try: setting / resetting your permalink structure (from wp-admin); checking your .htaccess for redirects. Failing that – Googling the problem to see if anyone has addressed it previously; then bumping it again on here to see if anyone has further input to add.

    No, it does not. I have the default Buddypress theme loaded now, and no plugins besides Buddypress, you can try it here at http://www.sewconnected.com. Thanks.

    Does it work using the bp-default theme and with all your plugins (apart from BuddyPress) deactivated?

    B. At the bottom of the same 16 files, replace:
    `

    `

    with the following (except for registration/register.php):
    `

    <?php
    themeblvd_main_bottom();
    themeblvd_main_end();
    get_footer();`

    with the following for registration/register.php:
    `

    jQuery(document).ready( function() {
    if ( jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).length && !jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).hasClass(‘show’) )
    jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).toggle();
    jQuery( ‘input#signup_with_blog’ ).click( function() {
    jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).fadeOut().toggle();
    });
    });

    <?php
    themeblvd_main_bottom();
    themeblvd_main_end();
    get_footer();`

    Save files.

    C. Upload the 6 BP folders containing the 16 files you’ve just revised to your server wp-content/themes/akita/

    D. Go to the style modifications made in BP Twenty Ten for reference especially with removing the bullets and bringing in the extended width of the BP elements. https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/theme-dev-bp-template-pack-walkthrough-twenty-ten-bp-1-5/3/ and copy these over to your theme’s stylesheet and adjust as needed.

    @keats18 Per scan of your theme’s HTML structure, you’d need to use the first option, i.e., change 16 template files within the 6 BP folders transferred to your Akita theme folder in server during the compatibility process.

    If you’ve previously changed any of the BP template files in your theme folder, replace all of them for a clean slate by deleting the 6 BP folders in server – /activity, /blogs, /forums, /groups, /members, and /registration – then re-run Appearance > BP Compatibility.

    Download the 6 clean BP folders to your computer hard drive.

    A. At the top of each of those 16 template files I linked to above, replace
    `

    `

    with
    `<?php get_header();
    themeblvd_main_start();
    themeblvd_main_top();
    themeblvd_breadcrumbs();
    themeblvd_before_layout();
    ?>

    @mercime

    @ed161718 just checked the codes you posted. For the catch box theme, you would need to revise 16 template files from the BP template folders transferred to your theme folder in wp-content/themes/catch-box/ during the Appearance > BP Compatibility process. If you still want the instructions, let me know.

    If you want to add additional Javascripts — use wp_enqueue_script() to load them.

    Put your wp_enqueue_script() calls in your theme’s functions.php file.

    [Edit: and of course, remember to upload your scripts to the server. In bp-default theme, the scripts typically reside in the _inc folder, but put them wherever works best for your theme.

    I have pasted it to:
    http://pastebin.com/HM47NKAi

    I’m assuming you mean the parent theme’s content.page.php as I can’t see any in the child theme that I have Buddypress in.
