As a last ditch effort to determine the problem I left all of my plugins and scripts in place, switched the theme I’m using to the default BuddyPress theme, and behold it works! So I now have a post on the Aquoid Forums to see why Suffusion is stopping autocomplete from functioning. I would still welcome any answers here, if you have any ideas… But the problem does appear to be with the Suffusion Theme.

Hi – thanks for the replies. Here’s where I’ve gotten so far:

The BP Resume Page is fine now (I played with its css a bit) . http://wpohio.com/members/ameeker/resume/

But the BuddyPress Portfolio are still looking and acting completely separate from the theme.
    http://wpohio.com/members/ameeker/portfolio/
    http://wpohio.com/portfolio/

I just can’t get my head around where to start with it yet. I’m a little bit new to BuddyPress, so I’d like to understand how the BP specific plugins can work in conjunction with the themes and BP. The BP plugin authors have the option to build out their templating and css independent of the theme (of course, that makes sense)? So then if I’m working with one of those (like this BP Portfolio), how do I retain the templating and CSS that is important to the plugin while telling the plugin to use the overarching BuddyPress theming of the theme? It’s not JUST a matter of CSS changes in the plugin, I assume?

Kind of talking outloud here, I know. Not even sure of the question to ask, to be honest!

    Which theme are you using?

If you are working with bp-default and want to create any amends (such as adding functions in functions.php), you will be best to create a new theme (probably a child one). If you look in the menu tab called Codex on this site, you’ll find documentation on how to do this.

Where is the functions php file? The BP theme I’m using is not in themes.

    Thanks.

Usually plugins only remove settings on deletion. Not deactivation. The theme you choose has no affect. Did you delete and re install BP mobile?

This is what it says in the dashboard at the top.

You’ll need to activate a BuddyPress-compatible theme to take advantage of all of BuddyPress’s features. We’ve bundled a default theme, but you can always install some other compatible themes or update your existing WordPress theme.

I tried to do what you said but sadly it didn’t work.

What about layout. I want it to match of of my theme and put the logo at the top of the site. Has it been updated 3.4.1?

They will not work together. They both override the theme when viewing on mobile. WP Touch does not have the template files for viewing BP content. BP Mobile shows any page you want you just need to add the pages to your mobile menu in the WordPress admin.

Javascript conflict with another plugin or theme. I’ll post an update.

Delete and re install the current version. I added a no conflict to the javascript that should fix. If not then something else is the issue and you should deactivate all plugins but BuddyPress and mobile and test the other plugins 1 x 1.

Again concerning this issue and commenting on @djpaul

It might be a bbPress bug. You should start a discussion on the bbPress forums at bbpress.org,

I guess this is a Buddypress issue too. Not saying that its original cause isn’t related with how bbPress handles buddypress integration but the fact is once you install sitewide forums you don’t get sitewide forums activity integration as promised, only groups forum integration.

You should go deep on this and make sure someone fix it.

I’ve just made a new install in a new subdomain with no plugins, default theme, only WP, BP and BBP and it just doesn’t update sitewide forums at activity stream.

Unless my hosting is causing this, there’s an important bug around.

BuddyPress doesn’t talk to Google Maps. It’s to do with a plugin you’re running, or possibly a custom theme. Work through your plugins and find out which talks to Google Maps’ API, and then contact the plugin’s author for support.

I found the answer . I copy new files in bp-default theme to my own theme .

Did you change the filter in your themes activity.php?
    Example:
    `’
If so then after a page refresh they will only see they’re friends activity and not their own.

    In reply to: “Like” Button

Hey Mike, you posted this a while ago, but hopefully this helps you or someone else who may be looking for this. Where you want to display the like button anywhere in your theme, put:

    Exel,
Thank you! I thought I was the only one. It must be a theme issue, because the problems I’m having are identical and I’m also using Elbee Elgee.

Thanks for posting. If you hear of a solution please post it here!

I’m not getting any answer on this at bbpress forums.

I’ve Already tried to disable all plugins, switch to default theme, reset buddypress and bbpress installation, review all settings, everything looks fine, even members profile have the forums tab with the topics list correct and no updates from forums at activity stream.

Is it just me or there’s more people with the same problem ?

I’m using sitewide forums after had disable groups forums

Speaking as a dabbler (not a PHP coder) who’s been poking around with Drupal Commons and BuddyPress a while:

    Drupal Commons Pros —
One very nicely designed feature set
Very close to being ready out-of-the-box
Well-suited for professional or corporate use
    Blog well-integrated with other features

Drupal Commons Cons (compared with BP) —
Somewhat configurable, but within a relatively narrow range
    Small number of themes
Themes difficult to customize after a point
Not ideal for non-business users; neither warm nor fuzzy
    Blog has very few features
Getting plugins for additional features to work is often more challenging
Drupal community, while very friendly, doesn’t address the non-technical user as readily as the WP/BP community; they’re not quite, but almost, exclusive to developers. In fairness, they’re very helpful to beginning developers.

    Hope this helps.

    Useful information.
I’m using the BP-default theme. I’ll have a play around and then most likely use the plugin.
    Many thanks @modemlooper

What other plugins are you using? Do you see any other errors or broken functionality on your website? Finally, if you switch to the BPDefault theme, are you still unable to upload images?

Thankyou Paul for responding, I did message the theme author and he got back to me and he’s working to fix it.

== ok, I managed to fix it, so proud of myself ==

@kooba and you should be proud of yourself for doing a good job :-)

== maybe suggest some changes, i’d appreciate it…. I’m sure You could make it even nicer ==

Flattery will get you everywhere :-) Kidding aside, you should copy over the style changes I mentioned in (D) above to fix the alignment of the other elements as well as remove the list background in the BP template files.

Is your theme a custom them or BP-default? If its BP-default you have to force a width. Fluid widths without responsive layout are a small screen nightmare. Have you considered another responsive theme or BP mobile plugin?
