In reply to: Help Modifying WordPress Theme “hello :D”
@ChrisClayton
ParticipantThat happens every time i use the template pack css.

add this to your css…
div.item-list-tabs ul li.last {
margin-right: 40px;
}February 3, 2012 at 5:52 pm #129195snowlas
ParticipantAwesome. Works! The only thing missing is the background image… which I should be able to tinker with in the CSS and get it to work that way.
If I got rid of the sidebar for a full width view, would it break? If it will, then I’ll leave it alone.
Thank you so much! Amazing support!

ParticipantOpen up sidebar-buddypress.php, at the top of the file, above other code add this:
``then at the very bottom of the same file, below other code, add this:
`jQuery(document).ready( function() {
if ( jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).length && !jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).hasClass(‘show’) )
jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).toggle();
jQuery( ‘input#signup_with_blog’ ).click( function() {
jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).fadeOut().toggle();
});
});`
Save file.

Re: styling of BP components. You might want to use some or all of the style modifications used in Twenty Ten theme https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/theme-dev-bp-template-pack-walkthrough-twenty-ten-bp-1-5/3/

ParticipantFirst of all, delete footer-buddypress.php, we won’t be needing it.
Open up header-buddypress.php and at the bottom of the file below other code add this:
`<div id="post-” >
`Save file.

MemberHaha. I guess I’ll get used to the WordPress admin bar.
Anyways, that worked perfectly and almost everything is in alignment now.
I just noticed one last small problem.
http://img815.imageshack.us/img815/3135/groupii.png
The dropdown menus on the right side of the Buddypress pages seem to get cut off like in the picture and I don’t quite know what is causing that.February 3, 2012 at 5:01 pm #129189snowlas
ParticipantI have not. They are exact copies.
I appreciate this! Thank you!
February 3, 2012 at 4:55 pm #129188In reply to: Change what url ‘Create and account’ links to.
@ChrisClayton
Participant@Craiglovelock – the “create an account” link is in the sidebar.php file.
Line 37
Seen Here: https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/trunk/bp-themes/bp-default/sidebar.php#L37February 3, 2012 at 4:42 pm #129183@mercime
Participant== I also tried to use some of the code in prior threads that helped others with this similar problem, but nothing worked. ==
Those won’t work because of different HTML structures in all probability. Let me check on what you’ve posted so far.
EDIT – Please confirm that the codes within header-buddypress.php, sidebar-buddypress.php and footer-buddypress.php are original copies of your theme’s header.php, sidebar.php and footer.php respectively. That is, you have not added any other code to the aforementioned xxx-buddypress.php files.

Woops. half my reply didn’t post
Theirs also this tutorial which allows others to post to your activity stream – http://buddydev.com/buddypress/using-activity-as-wire-in-buddypress-1-2-themes/ (this one should allow people to comment on them)February 3, 2012 at 3:05 pm #129171In reply to: Help Modifying WordPress Theme “hello :D”

Participantyou can go back the the wordpress toolbar by adding
define( ‘BP_USE_WP_ADMIN_BAR’, true ) to your bp-custom.php file – https://codex.buddypress.org/extending-buddypress/bp-custom-php/The buddybar is being depreciated, so it’s no longer worth messing around with it to get it perfect (and the wordpress toolbar is alot cooler lookin’)

Oh silly me.The header and menu bar background seems to be vertically misaligned.The original header seemed to use a clearfix css hack to vertically align the header and navigation menu into place right under the original wordpress admin bar. Doesn’t seem to work with the BuddyPress admin bar though.
Also, the BuddyPress admin bar doesn’t span the entire width of the page.

Participant@illusionApp – what exactly isn’t working? is the sidebar not aligned correctly? or…?
We have some codex entries that might also help – https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/bp-template-pack-walkthrough-level-easy-2/

Participant== In the BP site directory listing, I want to add the title (and link to) the most recent post for each site. ==
What theme are you using? Change to bp-default theme because the title and link to the most recent post for each subsite within a WP multisite installation with BuddyPress activated is there in Blogs Directory called by “ == Latest Post: The title of the post with link to the post.

ParticipantWhat theme are you using?
What plugins do you have activated? Specifically plugins which deal with activity streams and/or comments e.g. Akismet, etc? Have you tried deactivating plugins except BuddyPress to check which is interfering with your updated install?February 3, 2012 at 2:00 am #129136In reply to: Error on fresh install
@mercime
Participant– WP/BP versions?
– Single WP or WP multisite?
– Shared hosting or VPS and above?
– Did you install WP manually or did you use webhost WP install script? The webhost scripts sometimes causes the server error when BuddyPress is activated.
– What theme are you using?
– What plugins do you have installed?February 3, 2012 at 1:28 am #129132In reply to: Activity stream commenting

Participantsorry for my bad english… oh i mean my bad php
you mean i should create a favourite.php like the reply.php and put some code in it? and then another code in the functions.php in my theme folder? i checked the codex section but could not find anything. ithis is the last issue i have to solve. first i had ablank pages after installing. isolved it months ago>> thx to the community, then i had activation email issues. solved this too. third was that the sitewide forum did not work properly. i decided to use simple:press, which is also compatible with bp. but i have no idea how to php. man i want to learn php so bad. and i will, with time. can you explain me a last time how to fix this. i see the fav section but no threaded comments in bp_activity_functions but have no idea what to to. plzzz
February 3, 2012 at 1:01 am #129130In reply to: Activity stream commenting
Marcella
Participant@serdox hehe you can enable threaded comments, there is a guide within the codex.
Favs are much the same as the example @kalengi has given if you look into bp-activity-functions.php you should be able to figure it out.
Also, your theme is a premium theme that advertises BP support. Surely you should be looking at the Author for support?
@kalengi awesome dude, thanks for helping.

ParticipantSorry to disappoint you, but no genius here

#2) I recall that issue. Add this to your theme’s stylesheet:
`#whats-new-options {
height: 30px;
}`
increase height as needed.February 2, 2012 at 8:06 pm #129112In reply to: Interactive Profile Fields During Registration
bojan85
ParticipantHey Marcella, first of all thank you for taking the time to help us, What I am trying to do is very similar as david have two different registration forms depending if their user role is an athlete or coach. I have the regular Bp default theme with the frisco theme, and latest wp and bp.
I have been trying to figure it out for a couple days but cant seem to move forward..where in the register.php do i enter the php code and jquery script? I tried a couple different places..I have matched the group fields with the $roles array I’m guessing thats the only thing im doing right so far…
Sorry for the all the questions I am a beginner at all this..Any tips or help how to move forward would be greatly appreciated!

Participant== What would that do? I just did it and I see no change. ==
The recommendation to upload another copy of page.php was due to the fact that the div class in pastebin.com for page.php was different from the div class I posted which resolved the layout issue.== Shouldn’t there be a button to send public messages ==
Make sure you did not disable the JS for BP. Go to Appearance > BP Compatibilty. The checkboxes should be clear. i.e. unchecked.== And when I try to change the colors on the navbar to match my theme color… it doesnt change them. ==
Whatever change you add to your theme’s stylesheet should override adminbar’s styles as the latter is enqueued before your theme’s stylesheet per code you posted for header.php in pastebin. It just might be that you have overlooked some/same selectors to override adminbar styles.February 2, 2012 at 6:53 pm #129107In reply to: (NEED HELP)Comments disappear when my users refesh
