ModeratorReally being able to see your site through a link would probably help if that is possible. However, you mention localhost so I take it you’ve not got it on a server. Diagnosing as a result is going to be tricky.
I take it you’ve confirmed it is theme not plugin (other plugins to BuddyPress) by testing with the default BuddyPress theme? Your comments seem to be saying that?
Outside of that it really is going to be a case of using something like Firebug or WebKit Inspector to try and pin down what is going on where. My guess is either an unclosed div or some scripting but I really can’t know without a link. Perhaps someone else has some better ideas I’ve not used that theme so probably if they have they can give better insight.

ModeratorTimthumb would be theme side not plugin side. The fix is fairly easy to any theme that does have it however most won’t and use featured images / built in WordPress functions that do similar things.

MemberI have all the plugins installed. ok I understand that having “/” as a custom permalink wont work. But it does work on the “buddypress” theme… And if that is not the right kind of permalink structure… Then can you give me an example of what YOU would use? Thank you

Participantyou can simple put the followung code into your theme function.php without editing core file.
/*Change the number of activity items to show per page */
`function my_custom_query_filter( $query_string ) {
$query_string .= ‘&per_page=11’;
return $query_string;
}
add_filter( ‘bp_dtheme_ajax_querystring’, ‘my_custom_query_filter’ );`worked for me

Participant“i set the permalink to custom “/” “
You filled n the wrong values. Basically what you put there will never work. On any theme.

Pisanojm
ParticipantOk, so the issue was resolved by upgrading to the latest BP-Pro Mag theme… Here is my question for the “know-how-to-do-its”… If this is a jquery/theme issue, then what files must be replaced on the theme to make it work correct… I think if you post the answer here, people will find it and fix the problem themselves…
I’ve read this same problem being asked multiple ways on the site and there is no explanation of what to fix other than to “have the theme updated”… is it just a matter of swapping out jquery files? If so which ones? If something additional, what then?
Thanks and hope the coming answer(s) will help someone.

ParticipantFollow-up: I’ve used Ultimate Post Types to create a new type, and I have duplicated single.php into my theme folder, with the type appended to the filename.
Unfortunately, however, I have not found a query there that I can adapt to pull entries from my custom post type. Is there any way to do that?

MemberMaybe this update is helpful for anyone still looking for an answer. In the file activity-loop.php (themes/[themename]/activity) there’s a line which begins with: <?php if ( bp_has_activities
Enter the following arguments to that line like so: .
Now the activity stream only shows 10 items per page, instead of the default 20.

Participant== i have the problem with the non-buddypress theme ==
If you want to use your WP theme with BP, you need to install the BP Template Pack plugin and go through the compatibility process.

ParticipantWhen I upgraded to 1.2.9, I experienced this same issue… I just discovered it from my upgrade to 1.5 bleeding… it’s appears to be a theme issue for sure…. I can disable all of my plugins/bp-custom.php and I still have this issue with my current theme…. when I switch to the default theme, the problem disappears…
So to recap… for me, not a plugin or custom.php issue, but a theme issue AND I am experiencing this in current stable of BuddyPress… I’ve asked @sbrajesh to look at this as I’m using his themes….
Just some more info to this.

ParticipantLooks like I am going back to using Mingle more user friendly.
I use the add-on for theme compatibility and most stuff is still screwed up.
I will keep checking in on the progress thou.August 2, 2011 at 8:32 pm #117434Tammie Lister
ModeratorMy first thought is perhaps that plugin somehow interacted with something. However can we go right back to basics and maybe try the default theme with no other plugins (making sure cache plugins are cleared will also be a good check)?
I get it is sometimes hard to do that but be interested in seeing if you get the expected behaviour then.
August 2, 2011 at 4:55 pm #117410In reply to: Can I put a logo in the defult theme
@mercime
Participant== how can I do this using the default theme.==
1. Create a child theme of bp-default theme. – https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/building-a-buddypress-child-theme/
2. Copy over header.php from bp-default theme – https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/1.2.9/bp-themes/bp-default/header.php
3. Open up header.php and replace the following:
<h1 id="logo"><a href="" title=""></a></h1>
with
<h1 id="logo"><a href="" title=""><img src="/images/logo.png" /></a></h1>4. Upload a logo.png or .jpg, etc. to your theme’s images folder

ParticipantI have not Upgraded because i am waiting for it to become a bit more reliable lol as when i tried to upgrade it broke my forums and BP install. So yes still those versions.
So far i have tried:
-Reverting to buddypress default theme
-Turning off all my plugins and reactivating them one by one. (both default and Default BP theme)
-Using BP profile as homepage ( which worked for the immediate login but when they click Home at the top they are seeming logged out until refresh again)I also turned on and off and cleared my cache and cookies and am still encountering this problem with myself and several other users.
any suggestions?

ParticipantWP/BP versions? Theme used? Is the image you’re uploading smaller than 150px x 150px? Do you have GD library installed in your server?

MemberAh, no, I’m using a different theme and several plugins. The problem is probably buried in one of them.
August 1, 2011 at 10:25 pm #117365Tammie Lister
ModeratorI’ve not explored it but if I was tackling this from a theme view I think you’d be looking to do a template switch. What I mean is if group name is x show x template, if y show y template. That’d be the first step I’d suggest.
