ParticipantDid you put both functions in your bp-custom.php file? Then did you put the html in the theme file where you’d like it to appear?

Participant@Naren00000, for applying theme on secondary blogs, you need to go to Network Admin to Enable the theme first, then, go to the secondary blog’s Site Admin/Dashboard/Apearence/Themes to Activate the theme.

MemberThis is inspiring
two years eh? I’m just getting my feet wet with BuddyPress, and I’m trying to work towards something similar (a custom theme that I want to build to suit my own specific needs, but then give to the community for free). I look forward to trying out your theme, and who knows maybe build some child themes based on it.Now back to coding I go.

@magcindy you place the import line in your WP theme’s style.css file.

Participant=== all the possible available (BP I think) links appear in the far left of the bottom of the footer. ===
I believe you’re referring to the BP Admin Bar. I assume you used the BP Template pack plugin to make your WP theme compatible with BP. You will also need to load the styling for BP admin bar via @import.
`/*
Theme Name: Name of your Theme
… etc
… etc
… etc
*//* Load the default admin bar styles */
@ import url( ../../plugins/buddypress/bp-themes/bp-default/_inc/css/adminbar.css );`April 20, 2011 at 10:51 am #110631John James Jacoby
Keymaster@brentjacobsen – Do you have access to your PHP/apache error logs to see where exactly the memory error is happening? How much available memory is being allocated to PHP? Remember that the more custom PHP code you pull in (with plugins, elaborate themes, etc…) is the bigger that buffer gets, and eventually it’ll pop once it hits the limit. That limit may get reached at different times for different users depending on the number of groups they’re in, the number of pending invitations they have, the page that is trying to be displayed, etc…

KeymasterDid you try the default theme? It’s possible that this is theme related. It could also be being caused by some other plugin you’re running.

@mikey3d
ParticipantIt’s very simple to fix it. In your child theme, open the file header.php and move the Blog Posts RSS Feed and Blog Posts Atom Feed codes between this characters “@@@” just under the style.css’s media=”screen” codes:
`
<link rel="stylesheet" href="” type=”text/css” media=”screen” />
<link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title=" | ” href=”” />
<link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title=" | | ” href=”” />
<link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title=" | | ” href=”” />
@@@<link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title=" ” href=”” />
<link rel="alternate" type="application/atom+xml" title=" ” href=”” />@@@
<link rel="pingback" href="” />`Change to:
`
<link rel="stylesheet" href="” type=”text/css” media=”screen” />
@@@<link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title=" ” href=”” />
<link rel="alternate" type="application/atom+xml" title=" ” href=”” />@@@<link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title=" | ” href=”” />
<link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title=" | | ” href=”” />
<link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title=" | | ” href=”” />
<link rel="pingback" href="” />`
How is that workout for you? Don’t forget to delete this characters “@@@.” It’s just for the demonstration.

KeymasterIf you upgrade to WP 3.1, you’ll also have to upgrade to BP 1.2.8. That should go smoothly, but it might be worth researching your essential BP-related plugins to make sure they are 1.2.8 compatible. (This mostly has to do with Multisite/Network Admin fixes.)
I’m not sure how or why those upgrades would solve the problem, though.
You may want to try switching back to the default theme for a moment, just to see if that fixes the problem. At least that would narrow down the problem a little bit.

MemberWP 3.0.5. BP 1.2.7. User will get to login screen, enter their login info, and then see a blank screen. When you look at the source, it just shows an empty body tag. User can’t access anything at this point. I’m using BuddyPress Widget Theme 1.2.7.
April 20, 2011 at 12:00 am #110593Boone Gorges
KeymasterOK, it sounds like you probably have your memory bases covered then.
When you say that users see an empty body tag, can you be more specific? Does this happen after they have clicked Submit on the login form? Are they able to access the wp-admin area? Can they see the site when logged out? What theme are you using? WP/BP versions?

ParticipantIf you’re referring to the Studio theme by BuddyDress/wpmu.org then you should know that they give free support for their premium themes. Unless we buy the theme, we won’t know what codes they have there to implement the changes you want.

MemberDont touch any core files or htaccess before trying this:
Before an upgrade or moving to other hosting save your template folders created by “BuddyPress Template Pack” for your custom WP theme (members and groups)
Check inside your theme folders for each:
members/single/
groups/single/
there should be many subfolders and files
Some hosting providers does not copy files under some subfolder level
if those folders are empty copy those files from wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-themes/bp-default and paste inside your custom theme.
Please reply if this helpsApril 19, 2011 at 6:44 pm #110572GustavoRivadeneyra

ParticipantI agree and I attempted to limit the sub pages displayed when we restyled the bp-default dropdowns so one couldn’t nest a series of pages 20 deep as that is in a similar vein to too many top links, trouble is with a theme one can’t really dictate these matters that’s up to the user to manage, but my puzzlement was that this reviewer didn’t understand that and passed the comment that they did, really it wasn’t something that ought to be commented on.

Participant*puzzled* what does he mean??!! and he also pointed out that having a crap load of menus will kinda break the theme point out to him that a crap load of menus is the result of users adding pages and the way BP-default is coded, horizontal links are never wise with dynamic sites where you can not account for links generated. Using the new WP menus the user can control this aspect I thought @modemlooper was reviewing BP submissions?
