ParticipantThanks for starting a new thread on your issues as requested.
I’m going to close this thread as you do not really need two running and your other one covers both your issues so please continue in that one:

@mercime
Participant1. If you install a WP theme, you need to install BP Template Pack plugin to integrate BP component magic into your WP theme.
2. Which BP theme was that and is that theme updated for current BP version?
Did you follow internal or external forums set up in this articlehttps://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/configure-buddypress-components/#forums-setupFebruary 11, 2011 at 6:10 am #105121In reply to: Change RSS output

MemberI have not been able to get the filter to work on the Feeds on the activity page. I have GenesisConnect and the executive theme.
A second problem I am unable to edit the acrivity page, when I do it comes up blank. I put a little preamble at the top I would like to change.
They told me at Genesis Connect to post here.

Keymasterif you do that, you’ll need to consider the impact on widgets and third-part BP plugins.

ParticipantThanks to you both!
@Boone Gorges The reason I’m doing it like this is because I’d like to only load the JS when Buddypress is using it, so if the user is on a blog post that has no BP component it won’t load unnecessary JS.

ModeratorI usually create a new CSS file called custom.css and then add all my add-on code there. That way the theme CSS is clean and upgradable. Place the file in the root of your site and then call the CSS file in the header.

So activity stream works more like Facebook wall. I think this should be the defacto way BP works. Have a site-wide stream but then have a profile wall.
anyhoo need to override the profile stream. I can get the site-wide stream to bend to my will but having trouble getting profile stream to only show users, friends and groups they belong to.

KeymasterIt’s possible that bp_init is fired too early in the process for it to be detected with functions.php, which is only loaded with your theme (relatively late). Try hooking to something like ‘wp’ instead. You should be able to detect whether BP is activated by doing something like
`if ( !function_exists( ‘bp_loaded’ ) )
return;`In any case, you should be enqueuing scripts on the init action, which is unrelated to bp_init: https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/wp_enqueue_script

Participant@aljuk Another 6 hours of work and sill no solution. I tried exactly what you said. And I also tried it on my development installation – There it’s working like a charm. I don’t have an idear what to do… ;(
I use the latest versions of bp and wp. On my testdrive I use the same plugins. I also checked another theme.
All this work just to hide ONE profile field.
Do you have another idear?
Thanks a lot!

ParticipantFiles don’t look ok when I view source of a page, you did adjust the copy of activity/index.php that lives in your child theme rather than in the original bp-default folder inside the BP plugin.

KeymasterCheck out the function bp_dtheme_ajax_querystring() in bp-themes/bp-default/_inc/ajax.php. That’s where most of the bp_ajax_querystring() magic is happening. Essentially, it looks first in the $_POST (for a new value via AJAX) and from there in the $_COOKIE for the current page view.

MemberOk, Ive figured it out. First I’ve disabled logo upload in default bp theme by putting that code in functions.php child theme:
`function my_remove_bp_actions() {
remove_action( ‘init’, ‘bp_dtheme_add_custom_header_support’ );
}
add_action( ‘init’, ‘my_remove_bp_actions’, 9 );`and that in css:
`#header {background:url(fani_to.png) no-repeat;}`
Then I simply used code from my first post and I’ve added to the css:
`body.category_1009 #header {
background: url(fani_to2.png) no-repeat;
}`It works great, thanks for your help

Hugo Ashmore
Participant@grow-stories this is an 8 month old thread you have dragged back up. please, in future, if you have an issue you require help with you must start a new post/thread and describe the problem in detail along with any applicable info such as version numbers , custom themes, plugins in use.
You activate the plugin in the usual place for plugins, you visit the BP menu section and configure any options you want such as forum install, extended profiles etc, then visit the theme section and activate the bp-default theme or suitable BP compatible theme you might have.

ParticipantThat’s exactly what I was going to do.

That way, if (and when) things go haywire, one can revert back to a previous version to help track down the impact changes to BP have had in a theme, and what needs to be fixed.February 9, 2011 at 11:04 am #104995In reply to: Ant release date set for BP1.3?

Participantperhaps take care and don’t update that actual checkout but move to a fresh install with fresh checkout of BP trunk and move your theme / plugins in as I think there will have been changes that may not sit well initially?

ParticipantThanks for the input guys! And hnla is right, I had neglected to account for the refactoring time required by JJJ. My bad

I also have a test site running WP3.0.* & BP1.3 trunk (that needs to be updated again this weekend as per the above suggestion) and themes are working OK so far there. So, I guess I’ll continue with updates on that install.February 9, 2011 at 8:54 am #104989In reply to: New Buddypress Theme: Custom Community – 1.0
