Hi Guyz,
I’m glad becoz I’m in a world of wordpress community. I have downloaded the buddypress for one of my upcoming social networking website. I’m developing a theme for my site.
But I’m struggling a problem related to scrapbook/wall section. Becoz I haven’t found a plugin for wall. I found BP-Wire, but its a text only version.
Guyz, can you please advice me, if there any plugin for buddypress is availble for wall / Guestbook
Thanks in Advance…
In that case I’d suggest creating an installation with the same versions used originally on another server or local dev environment and seeing if that makes a difference, if it’s a server config issue maybe or some other mis-configuration somewhere.
@Travel-Junkie,
I am sorry but I don’t fully understand what you suggested. Do you mean wp-config.php ? I have a feeling it is not buddypress. I just installed another theme and the links don’t work on any themes.
Also I re-installed wordpress and left the Permalink Settings as default and the links to themes work just fine as soon as I change the permalink to do “Day and name” or any other option the links in themes don’t work. This is my main problem I think getting buddypress working with my theme.
Should I change something in the wamp server?
@stwc problem is, I’m using wordpress in a different folder than the root of the domain. So my WP files live in domain.com/wordpress/ and my “wordpress blog” is at domain.com.
I was told by sever people, including r-a-y that I need to change the “buddypress default domain” or something of that nature. I was told to put this code in my functions.php file, but it doesn’t work. Any suggestions?
// Getting rid of the subfolder in URLs/permalinks
function my_bp_override_core_domain() {
$domain = get_bloginfo(‘url’);
return $domain;
}
add_filter(‘bp_core_get_root_domain’,’my_bp_override_core_domain’);
Yeah, but poor @Chad Holden isn’t so lucky
stwc,
Thank you for the reply but its a no go. When I click on any links at all my browser goes to the link directory that doesn’t exist I think. Also I am using WordPress not MU. What am I doing wrong?
Hello,
I searched all over the site and couldn’t find the answer to my question. I have WordPress installed on my local computer using wamp server and I was able to get the buddypress plug in installed but no links work. If I am testing the site on localhost/wordpress and everything seems to be there but as soon as I click on any link, like the about or profile I get
“404 Not found The requested URL /wordpress/about/ was not found on this server.”
What am I missing?
@ipstenu
Everything works fine on our site. Media library, post media, avatars…
It’s something I can look into. Not sure how off hand. I do have CubePoints working with Simple:Press Forum though. But it’s a direct edit of a file.
I think that allowing users a blog is over the top for most users. What I really want to do is just give users one post…. Their Story on the site that is in an appropriate category. I don’t think extended profiles is quite what I want because I have a lot of old stories on the site that I want to move into WordPress…
There are three story categories now
Babies & Children Clubfoot Stories
Teens & Adults Clubfoot Stories
CBMI Clubfoot Stories
I want to replicate what I have now in buddypress allowing community members to be able to add their own story or edit it… keep it up-to-date and add a new photo or two. Each user should only be able to edit their own story page… I guess this is sort of like an extended profile but needs to have tags to sort stories and read like a story not just a short description on a profile page.
I want people to be able to select a tag and find the story that is related.
Maybe the Forum should be renamed to Clubfoot Stories and each story is a topic in the forum would that work?

more or less, you can test it out over on:
http://mystique.bp-theme-converts.com
I’ll zip it up if you want tomorrow.
Has anyone made this BuddyPress-compatible yet?
Hi
wordpress 2.9.2 buddypress 1.2.3 not MU
I am using the default theme, thanks for the reply

hi
For your first question, you may want to try this plugin
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-registration-options/
checkout this thread too
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/moderate-members/
For the second, yes, It is possible. Just go to SiteAdmin->Options and select the radio box which says only logged in users can create blog.
PHp5 may be an issue, better why not ask your server adminstrator to upgrade.
that is depressing since I am a complete die hard fan of simple facebook connect – http://ottopress.com/wordpress-plugins/simple-facebook-connect/ I hope it doesn’t die out. Let’s just see how it all plays out in the future devs. Thanks for the heads up
As andrea_r said, you can’t. More precisely, it’s not a supported or advertised feature of WordPress.
If you’re comfortable working with PHP and WP themes, you could try something like this: http://ryanpricemedia.com/2007/04/08/howto-include-wordpress-widgets-in-post-or-page-body/
*ponder* It doesn’t make any sense to me, except maybe it’s PHP setup. Can you add an image to a regular blog post outside of BP?
Ya, that would be cool if the My Points page was on the profile page or just not the admin part of wordpress. I didn’t create CubePoints, just this extension of it. So not sure why it’s not giving points for new users.
Do you have a point value on this page?
http://www.mysite.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=cp_admin_config
Under “Number of points new members get for registering:”
wp-blog-header.php is the old file to include, add at the top just after <?php the require_once…. with the full path to wp-load.php
see https://bbpress.org/documentation/integration-with-wordpress/ “Functions” section
Hi
Post where? In a group forum? Also, what versions of WordPress and BuddyPress are you using please.
Well, I added this to bb-config.php
`// Include WordPress functionality
$currDir = dirname(getcwd());
// Make sure this isn’t install or admin (go up if it is)
if(!file_exists(“$currDir/wp-blog-header.php”))
$currDir = dirname($currDir);
if(!file_exists(“$currDir/wp-blog-header.php”))
die(“Cannot find WordPress integration files.”);
require_once(“$currDir/wp-blog-header.php”);`
got the code from here
http://labs.b5media.com/blog/creating-the-anypress-solution/
…still need to test…but the theme seems to work now…i think
Hey people, i installed the newest buddypress plugin on wordpress mu, and can´t open a new topic in my forum. Groups doesn´t work correctly, can always get the 2 first sites to create a group, and then an error follow.
The BuddyPress Default theme for bbPress is ready and available for the download.
ATTENTION: REQUIRES the deep integration between bbPress and WordPress/MU.
For info, and download link please go here.
For a demo visit: http://forum.buddypress-it.it
Enjoy!
1and1 works fine with WordPress. I run a number of sites with 1and1 not an issue, only MU does not work. I know this is marked resolved
I have been testing Buddypress and MU for a while now, and It has nothing to do with BuddyPress. It is an MU issue with 1and1
Hi,
I have BuddyPress integrated with WordPress Single User and everything is great, except that in the activity stream if someone makes a comment on the blog side the link to the comment in the Activity stream is correct EXCEPT that the comment number is doubled at the end, thus breaking the link. You can see an example here: http://www.hotforwords.com/members/alx/ Just click the Blog Name after where it says “commented on the blog post”.
Does anyone know where and in which PHP document that link is created? I can’t find it for the life of me!
Thanks so much!
Marina
