Summary of issue: Home link is incorrect. All other links work correctly.
I’m slowly making progress with BP. Earlier I was not able to get BP 1.2.3 installed but was fortunate to get svn installed.
Everything appears to work except the link to the “Home” is incorrect.
Go to http://www.layneheiny.com and the blog postings show.
Click on “Home” and it goes to http://www.layneheiny.com/blog
Since WP is actually installed in /blog then maybe something isn’t correct elsewhere.
I’ve tried to read the other postings but most are being specific to their hosting environment.
This is the .htaccess in the root (no htaccess in subdirectory /blog)
# BEGIN WordPress
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteRule ^index\.php$ – [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
</IfModule>
# END WordPress
Thank you for any suggestions.
Hello,
I am new to WordPress and BuddyPress but I was wondering if it can support the following…
We have a website in which users start their own social networks and only interact with users in their social network. It is very much like Ning. (ning.com)
Is it possible to support sub-social networks in WP (and I think our developpers are using BuddyPress too) similar to Ning as just one installation? In other words, for each sub-social network we would have to create a new WordPress installation. Is there another/better way to do this?
Thanks.
I know this has been mentioned before, but adding privacy options would greatly increase use in the K-12, and College classroom. I am a college professor in a dept of education and I can tell you a lot of my former students would love to implement this into their classes but cant due to lack of privacy issues. I am teaching wordpress/buddypress in my classes as well and its the biggest issue coming up right now. I believe this would also be useful for companies as well. Good work so far though guys, i am impressed and so are my students. i am setting up these pages for my university and people cant believe how quick i am doing it.
The best thing is that I didn’t have to change the plugin at all!
Install this as a Sitewide/Network plugin: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/comment-form-quicktags/
Edit
activity/post-form.phpLook for
<div id="whats-new-content">
<div id="whats-new-textarea">Replace with
<div id="quicktags"><script type="text/javascript">edToolbar();</script></div>
<div id="whats-new-content">
<div id="whats-new-textarea">Then add this to the bottom (below
</form><!-- #whats-new-form -->):script type="text/javascript">var edCanvas = document.getElementById('whats-new');</script>That’s it. It works.
Running: BuddyPress 1.2.3, WordPress 3.0, My theme plus the BuddyPress Template Pack.
Topic: Erratic behaviour
Hello everyone,
I have installed WP abd BP. I test them on my local machine and on a remote computer (part of the LAN)
I kind of have an erratic with BP that consists of:
1. When a user is created sometimes he/she does not receive the confirmation email.
2. Lets say I am on the local PC and I create a user called BIBI. After loging in with this id I see sometimes the dashboard with the latest comments etc. etc. (from the url I can see that I am taken to wp-admin folder).and sometimes I get the Hello World message that says “Welcome to WordPress. This is your first post. Edit or delete it, then start blogging!” but I do not see how I can get to delete this message and how to start blogging!
3. I activate the forum tab but when I click on it I get http 403 error.
4. If the user is connected from a remote computer the above “Hello World” message is replaced by Page does not exist. Here I understand that I did not set up correctly the server name and there are places where it says localhost. How can I change everywhere the localhost with the server name?
Any answer to any of this issues is very much appreciated.
Thank you,
Carly
Topic: Profile Hooks?
Hi,
New to Buddypress here and I’m wondering if there are any hooks for the extended profile fields or is someone could tell me how to add a filter to them.
All I can find right now are the functions that return the data. I have a plugin I want to use that needs to filter one particular profile field. I know how to get to the data, but I don’t really know how to add the filter since I don’t see any “hooks” exactly.
Also, does anyone know off the top of their head if wordpress profile fields are the ones bp is using or are they separate?
Thanks so much and sorry for the newbie question.
