Topic: Group forum subscription
I know that email notifications for forums is coming up in a future version of BP, but it’s important enough to my BP community that I wrote a plugin to make it work now. Probably won’t work with 1.1 (we won’t be upgrading for a little while and we needed this functionality now, which is why I developed in 1.0.x) but I’ll be fixing that soon. Hope it’s useful to someone out there.
Topic: User Blog Layout
Hey guys, I’m new to WordPress and of course Buddy Press. I recently installed buddypress 1.1. The issue I”m having is the layout of the first screen a user comes to when they log in.(I’m using the default buddypress theme) When a user logs in to their blog, it gives them their home screen, asking them to add widgets to the different sections. How can I (if possible) have the widgets of my choice installed for all users, so that they don’t have to choose any. I checked all of the WPMU settings and Buddypress settings with no luck. Any help would get appreciated. Thanks

“Give group creators and administrators on your BuddyPress install the ability to attach external blog RSS feeds to groups.
Blog posts will appear newest first, regardless of the blog in an easy to use browser with AJAX pagination.
New posts on external blogs will be displayed on the group and new posts will appear on the group and site wide activity stream.

Automatically join a member to a group based on a profile field. For example, say you have a profile field where the person selects his state from a drop down list. If he selects, New York, he’ll be automatically added to the group New York. Or, if you have a profile field for “Favorite Animal” and the member selects “Dog”, you could automatically have him become a member of the group “Dog’s Rule” and “Best Dog Food”.

“Extend the features of a BuddyPress and bbPress installation. When a new topic is created in a BuddyPress Group, all members of the group will receive an email notification about the new topic. When new replies are added to the topic, anyone who has posted in that topic will receive an email to notify them about the new post.”

Topic: Several issues
Hello,
I’m hoping someone can help me with a major problems that I’m encountering with my BP installation.
I’m running WordPress MU 2.8.4. and BuddyPress 1.0.3
1) After registering, when a user gets the “Activate avatar” e-mail and clicks on the link they see their avatar. It’s uploaded just fine but the cropping tool is missing! So after proceeding you end up with the infamous bacl box. If you click on change avatar, this time it works fine and cropping tool functions properly.
2) Another cropping tool problem. This time with groups. The group avatar is uploaded fine. The cropping tool functions fine. Once you click on “Crop Full Size and Save” a new page comes up with:

Please try again.
You click on Please try again. and it takes you back. Same thing happens if you try again.
If you skip this step and finish creating the group. Then go to admin->group avatar and upload and crop the avatar it works fine.
3)Is the the abillity of users to delete their account disabled by default? If so how do I enable this? This is very important. I have seen it in another installation of BP.
For example: http://bp-dev.org/members/MEMBERNAME/settings/delete-account
However that page is missing in my installation but the code seems to be in the core files.
4) How can I disable/remove the activity labels across the board that display “active X time ago”. Most users obviously want to hide their online status and don’t want others to see when they logged in and for how long. Ideally this would be a user defined setting but since it’s not, how can I disable this?

After several failed attempts (header rewrite errors and other things) at installing BuddyPress onto an existing WordPress-MU on a local server (XAMPP) I started over. I have a relatively clean install of wordpressmu (relatively meaning I’ve done some minor tweaking of the appearance). Now, I would like to add BuddyPress. First, since I want to have complete integration, should it be installed in a parallel folder to the wp folder or within it (or does it not matter). Second, there is a download of BuddyPress here, and a plug in called BuddyPress on the WordPress site. Do I use one or the other, in a specific sequence, or one instead of the other? If the last, which one gives me the most flexibility? Assuming I get that far, will both be integrated or do I need further steps. WPMU version 2.84a, mySQL 4,1.14, PHP 5.3.0, Apache 2.0, all on WinXP SP3. Thanks, in advance for any guidance you can provide.
I always find the conditional tags for WP very useful, and as I can’t find an equivalent for the BuddyPress pages I’ve started a plugin to fill the gap. Does this code seem sane?
