@mercime
ParticipantYou must be referring to this file https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/1.6.4/bp-themes/bp-default/functions.php
There’s no 8? in that file. Have you tried downloading a fresh copy of BuddyPress and re-uploading it to server?

KeymasterWe’d be interested in seeing your slow query log from MySQL, and any other hard numbers relating to how well xprofile scales with 10 million entries. It’d be awesome if you could create a ticket on https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org or send me those details to paul/buddypress/org.

ParticipantHello again – At this point, should I create a new wordpress blog and import in the old .sql file export that has the posts in them? Or is there still something else I can do to get the posts back up? Thank you!

@mercime
Participant@charlietech What theme are you using? You can either a) just use CSS to hide the avatar and then move the status update box to the left or b) remove lines 16 through 20 of post-form.php and then adjust style of status update form in your theme’s style.css

Participant@mercime Hey thank you millions. I am excited and hopefully will get to view this presentation. One question I have though is which day will this be view-able? I see Word-camp is April 5-7th 2013 but what day and time shall I attempt to watch at http://wordpress.tv/ ? Thank you guys so much for allowing the access to less fortunate folks such as myself to be able to view the presentations it is appreciated very much. 🙂

@mercime
Participant@bphelp in all probability, BuddyCamp videos will be uploaded to http://wordpress.tv/ – updates from this site show up in dashboard along with other WP feeds unless you’ve removed the box

ParticipantJust out of curiosity can you guys just upload a torrent file we can download to view the presentations? If you can that would be awesome towards novices like me that really want to help out. There is certain things most people do not understand in WordPress and that is how to hook into it. I am still a novice but I made a couple puny plugins, and I would like the pros to chime in and show the novices like me how to take it even further so I can be of more assistance.

ParticipantOkay, so I got Notepad++ and made the files, and when I go into WordPress editor, it shows my style.css and functions.php, but when I click on style.css it says “Sorry, this file cannot be edited”. I am using this tutorial http://www.1stwebdesigner.com/tutorials/create-buddypress-theme/ and I cannot tell which part is the template. On WordPress it says the theme is broken because it does not have a template. I thought by putting in the
1
/*Theme Name: bp-child
Theme URI:
Description: Author:
Author URI: Version:3.0.2
Template: bp-default
Tags: */
Code that I would be able to start editing the theme on wordpress. Is that just the stylesheet? If so, what do I do for a template?

ParticipantCreate a custom menu in dashboard/appearance/menus then just leave out the members menu item.
This shows you how:

ParticipantI also disabled all plugins and tested and it still does not work with all of the plugins disabled. I tried a fresh installation in a test wordpress site as well and still the same issue. I’m using the Responsive theme by themeid with a buddypress child theme.
I also tried 1.7 with the responsive theme (no child theme) and had the same issue so something in the Responsive theme seems to be the culprit, but I’m not sure where to go next to troubleshoot it. I suspect its an ajax issue but not sure.
I’d rather not start over with a new theme as I’ve spent a ton of time customizing this one.

ParticipantNo problem.
We are using BP version 1.6.4
BbPress is version 2.2.4
Wordpress is version 3.5.1Forum settings are allowed for groups and standalone. This issue is happening on all topics as far as I can tell.
Yes I am aware they are two separate plugins, do you suggest I post this on the bbP forum?
Hope this helps.

ParticipantWhy do yo search in 1.2 RC ?
Since a few hours, BP is RC1 for 1.7 version.
If you use the latest stable upgrade, search better here:

Participant@fede1, as you activated bbPress and allowed group forums, bbPress will use the bp template (out of the box, it’s bp-default). So i wonder witch template you really want to activate ?
Maybe read this: https://bbpress.org/forums/topic/how-to-edit-bbpress-template-files-wordpress-buddypress-bbpress/
and ask also on the bbPress Forum.March 28, 2013 at 4:32 pm #159020In reply to: Collaborative media (photos/videos) gallery
unimatrix
ParticipantThere are a couple options.
BP-Media by rtCamp takes all user uploads and places into the Media Library. The plugin is okay, but had some issues with our Theme. It’s free with premium modules available for video transcoding.
The plugin you want probably is BP-Gallery from Buddydev. This is NOT BP-Gallery plus from the wordpress.org site. BP-Gallery has a centralized gallery page that shows uploads from all accounts on one page you specify in the buddypress pages settings like you do activity/register/activate/etc.. It is a premium plugin that costs $30 to access, but of all the media plugins I’ve found it has caused the least number of headaches. The biggest problem I had was changing a few lines of a code to better match our theme, but it was fairly painless.

Participant@fpats, normally, you don’t have to use the template pack with 1.7
So far i know there was a bug in 1.7 beta concerning this point. (https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/4897)
Reload BP from trunk, it’s now in RC1 version
