@Andrea_r, can `activity stream` add a `Favorite` counter? that the post owner can see how many peaple mark a Favorite in his post article?
I’m very new to Buddypress and to WordPress. I’m having a similar difficulty with profiles, groups, forums etc… links all redirecting back to the homepage. I had just loaded the great Suffusion theme, which i love, but will now try to go back to default to see if i can trace the problem. I would welcome any ideas.
Hey all!
The wordpress plugin i was using is apparently not compatible with buddypress. Does anyone else have a plugin that they use for that purpose they would recommend?

This is as simple as a nav plugin, I would recommend the Multi Level Navigation Plugin.
You can also achieve putting those contents in your admin bar, such as Networks with a dropdown of Member and Groups along side the “My Account” as an example
The time/date format on my blog posts no longer match up with what they once were in wordpress after the installation of buddypress… before each post I get:
6:41 pm in Uncategorized by admin
which i would like to change to just say…. “Month Day, Year” if possible. Any ideas of where to look to replace this code? I know where it would be in wordpress, but i’m afraid of messing things up for the entire site as I’m not fully familiar with buddypress yet.
Thats why your permalinks arn’t working correctly.
Read through this:
https://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Permalinks
@envira Go into your database, where you host all your files. Find the file: .htaccess.
It should be in the root of your wordpress.
Scroll down to the end of the file and add this:
`LoadModule rewrite_module modules/mod_rewrite.so`
“BP must built a group first, “
No, that is incorrect.
“and everyone has his own ‘timeline’ in twitter.”
look at your activity stream. Go to your profile page.

=== Check out the readme file: https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/rating-widget/ ===
The buddypress tag IS there appearing in list of tags.
Btw, cool plugin
I’ve added the BuddyPress tag inside my plugin readme file but it don’t appears in the site.
Check out the readme file: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/rating-widget/
What’s wrong?
Hi, I also notice this bug when I click my account -> groups -> my groups , then the creat button is display, I notice the url like: `http://site/wordpress/username/groups/`
but if I remove the username `http://site/wordpress/groups/` I can see the creat button.
Then, How to move the creat button to users page?
@Ann_Whitt_Wen running BP Template Pack moves the following 13 files within 6 major folders to your active WP theme: https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/wordpress-to-buddypress-theme/#revise-templates. Looks like member folder files are missing. Double-check via FTP/cPanel that those 13 files are there. If not, go through the BP Template Pack process again. Or, copy over the missing files/folders from BP Template Pack plugin to your active theme while maintaining folder/file structure.
Extra note:
Trying to achieve this look & feel:
http://ayudawordpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/blog-buddypress.jpg
With pretty much every user created blog to be part of the main site…
@nahummadrid, Thanks for the response.
You’ve got me thinking that I already have an issue then.
For instance I have a page named music. The URL for it is myblog.com/music.
If a user signed up and made their username music then their blog URL would be the same myblog.com/music.
Or am I missing something?
Maybe a prefix can be added to the blogs like what has been done for all of the other elements within wordpress.
Wordpress 3.0.1 Buddpress 1.2.6 Subdirectory Installation
Is there any reason why I shouldnt try to make my installation work where the username, profile name and blog URL are all the same?
If there is no reason why I shouldnt do this what is the easiest way to make this happen?
I am trying to make my user signups much simpler then they currently are, most users do not understand the difference and are not completing the registration form. We can tell this by use stats on that page and the number of exits we are getting.
Thanks for you help and info,
Jesse
I currently have BuddyPress installed on a MultiSite install of WordPress. (www.gameshrine.org)
Now when you click on “blogs” and click on Visit Blog from “GameShrine” it puts it nicely within the same theme.
When you click on Visit Blog from NrFive, it goes off to “another site”.
Is it possible to make it act just like the default blog and show in in the same lay-out / menu structure / etc.
And if so, how can I achive this?
Many thanks in advance

Hello! I completed my first install of WordPress / Buddypress today and was extremely excited about switching after seeing how easy everything was to install…so impressive, I love it! However, I’ve been struggling all day with the “There was an error when creating the topic” issue mentioned above. I searched for hours on the Internet trying to find a solution and was thrilled to see this post! But unfortunately, nhla’s suggestion to check and uncheck the ‘Enable Discussion Forum’ didn’t work for me. :0( I desperately want a forum for my Word Press so I looked into installing the SimplePress plugin, but…. would definitely prefer to go the Buddypress route.
Are there any other suggestions/fixes for this problem?
I’m using a “one click install” of Word Press v3.0.4, and Buddypress v1.2.7.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, I don’t want to give up on Word Press!
I had some time earlier to create a little spider that basically:
– Scans the extensions page (all 12 pages!) for the direct URL’s of each plugin
– Extracts meta-data from each of the pages (title, rating, downloads, last updated, compatible, requires.. etc)
– Normalizes a little bit
– Dumps to text file for database import or CSV
Anyhow, for about 30 minutes worth of work, I was able to get most of the meta-data into a report. Some pages threw errors, probably because I didn’t set a delay between fetches or something but I could easily improve on this and cron the process into a database. Anyhow, I was mostly curious about searching through the extensions more effectively. Here’s a sampling of the top 20 or so by downloads:

1. I think there’s a plugin for this, but can’t find it quickly. Anyone?
2. That’s a default feature of the “public” group type.
3. https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/welcome-pack
Testbp.org is probably going through some maintenance right now.
Check back in a few hours or so.
@Andrea_r, thanks, but I think it is also a little deffirent, BP must built a group first, and everyone has his own ‘timeline’ in twitter.
@r-a-y, I clicked the testbp.org, but the google tells me the link is bronken. Then I click the site Cached, and I see the page `BuddyPress Test Drive`, how to setup if there has a tutorial? is there everyone get one page like this? or still relay on creating a group?
Thanks to all.
After the latest wordpress update the page comments in buddypress are enabled but no longer are viewable on the pages in either of my websites. Appreciated if anyone can help with this issue? thank you, Linda
