This is a WordPress installation issue. You need to resolve your problem at WordPress.org forums before installing BuddyPress.
sorry to bother you, I have a web site that works with wpmu as a sub, I arose the next detail, each time a user logs asks if you want to blog and is given orders that if the user and gives the name as you would like to be called the blog, the breakdown is as follows:
“When the user wants to enter your blog to edit and turn other people can visit the following appears:
Index of / george
* Parent Directory
*. ftpquota
Apache/2.2.17 (Unix) mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 mod_ssl/2.2.17 OpenSSL/0.9.8e-fips-rhel5 passion-juvenil.com Server at Port 80
Not that I need to configure, eh back often all that marks the wordpress codex for the creation of wpmu, but not me to run and I do not want verdadde disappointing, so that it does is unique posble.Lo I unconfigure the site and then not give me access.
I ask a favor to verify a file to know what’s wrong, just tell me that I can send you email to give him a verified and I can say that is bad, greetings and God blessed you.
I just tried the SMTP plugins you suggested but no matter what I do with it’s settings, it just keeps giving errors…
The below error for example;
Test Message Sent
‘The result was:
bool(false)

Do you mean a page you created or a BuddyPress specific one? https://codex.buddypress.org/extending-buddypress/customizing-labels-messages-and-urls/ or http://bp-tricks.com/coding/string-replacement-hack-core/ may get you on the right direction if BuddyPress specific. Otherwise it’s just a case of editing the page in your WordPress admin if not a BuddyPress specific page.
Hi,
I have 3 wordpress sites powered with buddypress and MU enable.
It’ is possible to all the 3 sites share the same users. For example:
One user register at site 1, it’s possible to be automatically registered at site 2 and 3? Maybe sharing the same database?
Thank you
Hello,
Sorry for my (very) poor english (I’m french).
I’ve a question for a WordPress MU + buddypress + domain mapping installation.
I’m working on a network site project for my job (a newspaper). I would like to use WP multi sites, and buddypress on main site.
But I’ve a question : activity of a mapped domain can be display on main site buddypress activity ? (like a sub-domain)
Thank you for your reply
Bonne journée !
Buddypress, as mentioned many, many, many times, is wired through the wordpress emails.
Buddypress has absolutely nothing to do with the emails. So don’t blame it on BP, there is nothing bp can do for the activation email really.
As through searching on forums, this issue is rising problems after problem. Bluehost seems to be big with it, so try the “Mail From” plugin.
First, forums are generally part of a group. You cannot create forums outside of the group paradigm unless you install bbpress and integrate bbpress with wordpress. Generally you don’t install bbpress and buddypress because buddypress will take over bbpress when you turn on the forum component in buddypress.
Second, if #1 is true then you have to decide what groups you will create or let your users create the groups. You can create groups for each resort, maybe even each board manufacturer, or board style, etc. You have to make those kinds of design decisions yourself or explain to your members how they can create their own groups.
Once you create a group, part of the creation or administration of the group is the decision to enable the discussion forum. Once the forum is enabled, then discussion can take place under that group. Yes all the forums can be listed in a directory, but once you get some traffic your users will click a forum link or topic link and be taken to the group that the forum belons to.
I hope that helps.
Have you searched the forums here on buddypress? because there are lots and lots of other topics about this.
The buddypress confirmation email is wired around wordpress emails, so it’s not buddypress’s fault, it’s most likely your host.
Tried the latest wordpress 3.0.4 which runs fine. I go to plugins > buddypress > install. It loads correctly, but as soon as I activate the plugin I get:
“Server error.The website encountered an error while retrieving http://site.com/wp-admin/plugins.php?activate=true&plugin_status=all&paged=1. It may be down for maintenance or configured incorrectly.”
The site admin panel becomes inaccessible and I then need to manually delete the plugin from FTP.
??
My WordPress blog loaded very fast but since I installed Buddypress, even the blog is slow. Could anyone take a look at my site (http://highexistence.com) and give me any advice? It’s painfully slow right now….
Thanks!
Could be a bug. From wp-admin/users.php, do you mean? What versions of BuddyPress and WordPress are you using?
I can help you with one of them; https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/achievements/
Everything else you want is out-of-the-box (other than your custom theme, of course!)
Hullo,
I would want to ask if it’s possible (for me, though) to imitate Irrational Games Website.
My main focus now it’s to create a wordpress-powered Magazine Site (or News Site however you want to call it) with forums, achievements and social profiles.
So I’d need to have buddypress activity compatible with the forums and achievements. Comments in main news site also appearing in activity would be helpful.
WHo here is way excited and looking forward to buddypress 1.3?
I am! The new version fixes a ton of things, and adds lots of new additions, as well as the new bbpress wordpress plugin… how is that coming along?
Does anyone know the exact date yet of the new release?
Thanks for everyone who helped solve problems and add new additions for the big 1.3
The following function works well in functions.php for a BP1.2.7 theme I’m developing, but I need a bit of help updating it for BP1.3
The function redirects users to “Group > Forums” as the “landing page” in groups instead of “Group > Home”.
`function redirect_to_forum() {
global $bp;
$path = clean_url( $_SERVER );
$path = apply_filters( ‘bp_uri’, $path );
if ( bp_is_group_home() && strpos( $path, $bp->bp_options_nav ) === false )
bp_core_redirect( $path . $bp->bp_options_nav . ‘/’ );
}
add_action( ‘wp’, ‘redirect_to_forum’ );`
From what I’ve read on this page, slugs need to be changed, but I’m not sure how to do it.
http://bpdevel.wordpress.com/2011/01/18/component-slug-vs-root_slug-in-bp-1-3/
I’ve got trunk(3727) installed on a test site and most things are working well (aside from a few glitches with the adminbar and forums).
Can anyone clue me in on how to update this function?
@imjscn So to round of the thread Jenny (just in case you were still wondering) you simply need to create the directory ‘languages’ in wp-content WordPress looks for this and defines it if not set otherwise, Buddypress now mirrors that process and also will check for the languages folder in wp-content but you must be running 1.2.7 for this change.
I want to add that one click software could be outdated. Best to get WP from wordpress.org so you know you have the most up to date software.
Make sure the “order by” drop-down isn’t set to anything but default.
If it just persists, I image you must have done something to the filters of the activity, or changing something in the files.. have you done anything to the files?
If you have, download wordpress from this site (manual.zip) and copy the original php file and replace your existing, for a fresh start
@cmroybal When software is tried and true like WordPress and you have issues at install. It’s usually the install process. That’s why I suggest a different install method. also the same thing has happened to me before with one clicks and now I never use them.
@thecoup
I can confirm that your method to troubleshoot my particular problem was successful.
So the final verdict: Do not use Dreamhost’s One-Click Installs to install WordPress if you want to use BuddyPress. Instead, do a manual WordPress install and continue from there.
Thanks to everyone for their help! Hope this information saves other people headaches in the future.
If you’re a plugin author, be sure to read this blog post about changes in how component slugs are created and stored in the $bp global in BP 1.3: http://bpdevel.wordpress.com/2011/01/18/component-slug-vs-root_slug-in-bp-1-3/
Yup, andrea_r is spot-on!
Go to testbp.org to see how a default BuddyPress install looks like.
This is already built in? If I type in @youlichika you will see it in your activity stream here. Just go look at your profile.
