I´m new with wordpress and need a help. Every time a user creates a group, the system is duplicating this group created. So when we show the groups on the community, it shows 4 times the same group. How can I fix it?
Hi, I use WP3.03 and BP1.2.6 build a community site. I also want to add a own micro-blog system, like tweet, user can send short message to other users. the message can display in a ‘timeline’, the fuction like ‘statusnet’. Can any one recommend a plungin like this? Thanks.
Probably beyond the scope of what we can do in 1.3. Moving the WordPress filter sounds hacky and best and would probably break someone else’s plugin, so I’d imagine that this would get resolved with the more extensive changes in 1.4.
I have installed WordPress and BuddyPress (3.04 and 1.2.7).
I have implemented the url mode rewrite workaround for IIS 6 as explained in http://www.ikailo.com/94/url-modrewrite-workaround-iis-60/ and http://tech.einaregilsson.com/2007/07/30/pretty-wordpress-permalinks-on-iis/
Following this step, I have a working installation of WordPress. I can navigate to all pages and the site works without error. Similarly, all BuddyPress pages and all sites load without error.
However, on the registration page ([sub.domain.com]/register) when a user completes the sign-in details and selects ‘Complete Sign Up’ they are immediately redirected to the same page with the form cleared. The page, however, fails to complete loading and hangs indefinitely.
Has anyone experienced similar behaviour and, more importantly, got a solution? I am running a very vanilla installation (default buddypress theme with no plugins other than buddypress). The abnormality I suspect is that I am running it on a Windows Server running IIS6.
I reproduced the problem and found a solution.
bbforum is not creating its tables or entries after using the one-click install on Dreamhost. Dreamhost’s one-click install yields a unique wp-config.php file with several differences that might be the problem. bb-config.php settings were fine.
A manual installation fixes the problem.
@cmroybal – you might be able to fix wp-config.php. If that doesn’t work, a fresh manual installation will definitely do the trick. It isn’t too difficult. You can create a database within Dreamhost (rather the phpmyadmin), and upload WordPress via ftp. After that, it takes about 1 minute for the WP install.
For those of you wondering if the problem related to multisite — it does not. I have that working as well.
“There was an error when creating the topic” really should say “There was an error because of a one-click install.”
I just playing around with buddypress.org links and I see the problem is duplicate contents causing the BuddyPress plugin. It doesn’t redirecting URL like WordPress does. Example:
WordPress: Try deleting a few letters at the end of this URL and it always redirect to the right URL.
https://buddypress.org/2010/12/buddypress-1-2-7/
https://buddypress.org/2010/12/buddypress-1-2-
BuddyPress: It doesn’t redirect to the destination URL. Example:
No slash and slash at the end of URL:
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/download-page
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/download-page/
Try deleting some letters at the end of URL to see what you get:
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/download-pa
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/downlo
I get the title “Pagination Issue (5 posts)” page above when delete any letters of URL?
Why is that it doesn’t redirecting the URL like WordPress? Can it fix it?
Apparently, the link no longer exists on WPMUDev; the developer of the plugin says the next release will be available on wordpress.org/extend/plugins/.
Mason has posted a modified version here:
http://premium.wpmudev.org/forums/topic/plugin-commander-or-plugin-manager#post-60823
Hello, my site is powered with buddypress and multisite enable.
I only want certain plugins to be available across my blog network.
How can i do that?
I search and tried this link http://wpmu.org/wpmu-plugin-manager/, but not succeed! i don’t find this plugin.
Thank you
Specifically for BuddyPress? No.
But since BuddyPress runs on WordPress, and since wordpress has a lot of plugins, try that.
I am using the WP 3.1 nightly builds. I had removed the wordpress adminbar with remove_action because I prefer the BuddyPress bar. But since the last three nightly updates I can no longer get rid of the ugly, messed-up WP bar. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get my Buddypress bar back?
Thank you.
The new bbpress plugin being created for wordpress right now can be used like any other forum.

The forum option within buddypress can be disabled (the group-specific one).
That happened to me once. I know that I had to change back to admin. But I don’t remember the steps as it was over a year ago with the old buddy.
I searched and didn’t find but I swore someone had created a WordPress theme to look like bp-default @Andrea_r
Greetings all,
Can someone provide me a quit tip or help about adding embed.ly support to my buddypress community.
Embed.ly plug-in is existing for wordpress blog but in buddypress it can embed sources only on blog posts. I need it to work with profiles and also in forums.
Just like boembed works.
Thanks in advance
Basically, to clarify: you only need to use a BuddyPress theme on the main site where Buddypress is activated. On the user blogs, just use a regular wordpress theme.
Hi, i install WP 3.0.3 , BP , and theme,
Custom Community 1.6.2 por Sven Lehnert and Konrad Sroka
but search not working, i think because i
used Framework, (url different that original url install WordPress),
that this the real reason ? what i have to do?
url with frame: http://www.etanolverde.com
url without frame: http://www.networkservicemarketing.com.br/etanolverde/site/
I just installed buddypress on a clean, fresh wordpress install and selected the default theme.
the home url is like this: http://www.mysite.com/buddypress
when i try to use buddypress, if i choose any menu link on the main page or in the top menu in the admin panel, it all takes me to a 404 error page on the main site. help.
Thanks for your reply. I’m new to creating a BuddyPress network of blogs. I was under the assumption that when I create a network and then add sites, that each site would be customizable. It seems to work with wordpress’ default theme, but not BuddyPress. Is this a bug, or is there something in the initial setup for the network that I need to enable so as to have the option of customizing each individual site? Thanks in advance for any help. Antonio
@MrNiceGuy2 unfortunately the page you linked to in first post now goes to required registration page. Looking back to your first post == How do I edit these pages!? ==
When you go through the BP Template Pack process, 13 files in 6 folders are transferred to your active WP theme and those are the files you need to revise, and not the template files in BP Template Pack itself.
Your bb-config.php database username and password is in the file, if you open it and look, it’s pretty easy to spot.
The file should be in the root of the wordpress installation
If you open the header.php file you can see that 2010 theme and bp-defaut are calling two different site names. I don’t think this will work but you can try to add bp_site_name() instead of what 2010 uses bloginfo( ‘name’ );
The problem is new sites are not BuddyPress sites they are just using the same WordPress database as the main site. So new sites have their own names and such.
A link to your site would also be helpful.
Can you be more specific than a raging capital letter title?
== my users to upload their mp3’s and images to my site – on my storage.. on my hard disk.. not on those hosting servers==
There’s a plugin BP-Gallery ($30) which can do what you need above with images and audio uploads plus video uploads and video embeds.for single user and/or groups.
There’s also the BuddyPress Media/BP Album+ plugin
stable version – images – https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-album/, https://buddypress.org/community/groups/bp-album/
beta version – images, audio, video embeds – in Google code repo
