    @mercime This problem started after I installed pie-register, now I have deactivated pie-register, but the problem persist, before installing that plugin, users were redirected to homepage, and after I installed pie register, users were redirected to /wp-login and even now When I deactivated the plugin, users are redirected wp-login and homepage. As u said, I am deactivating all plugin except buddypress, and my theme is already bp-default, but after I finish with deactivating procedure, where will I be able to check registration process? I am new to wordpress/buddypress, please suggest.

    == However I can’t find how to open the forums, register, or activate pages at the top of my website to make a test account.==

    You’re getting quite off-topic here. This is not related to Easel theme in any way. Did you go through the Installation Wizard after you activated BuddyPress?

    == I’ve tried http://fifaadvocate.com/register/ but this directs me back to the home screen. ==

    That usually happens when you’re logged in and then go to register page. You need to log out first. to register. Also, you could always create a test user account via wp-admin Users > Add New

    See, the server is in Columbus, OH and I’m not, so I called IX Web Hosting and they enabled the error logging and it spit this one out after I clicked on “Finish and Activate”.

    `Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 30720 bytes) in /hsphere/local/home/myusername/mysiteaddress.com/wp-admin/includes/media.php on line 1433 `

    Yeah… This tells me… um… I don’t have any idea what I’m doing.

    Any clues as to what this problem is? Do I need to call IX back or make a video on YouTube and open a new ticket? (There’s a YouTube video for everything these days…)

    I’m out of ideas.

    It seems this is being caused by the WP Email Login login plugin. @r-a-y is an author so hopefully he sees this.

    I’ve made a post in its forum here: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-wp-email-login-this-plugin-allows-non-activated-users-to-login?replies=1

    To clarify, un-activated user accounts will show in WordPress, but not in BuddyPress.

    Thanks for answering so quickly, @mercime. Here is the error message I am getting: ‘The following active BuddyPress Components do not have associated WordPress Pages: Activity Streams, Discussion Forums, User Groups, Members, Activate, Register. (REPAIR)’.

    Do you think the “fix” you suggested would work for this error? If so, I will try it. Am new to WP and a bit nervous about making too many changes in unfamiliar territory. I appreciate your help.

    == the issue was there before the upgrade, which I hoped was going to fix the problem ==

    The issue, not being able to update user profile, was fixed in BP 1.5. So I would change to Twenty Eleven,deactivate all plugins and delete BuddyPress. Upload BuddyPress via FTPto wp-content/plugins/buddypress, activate BP and activate bp-default theme. Also, you did go through the BP Installation Wizard when you upgraded from BP 1.2.9 to BP 1.5.5 right?

    @fallingup first, I can empathize on the FTP access only :-s

    Which BP Chat plugin are you using? If it doesn’t explicity note that it’s been updated for BP 1.5+/WP3.3+ then I suggest you deactivate it and check if issue is resolved. If not, deactivate BP plugins except BuddyPress and check.

    == If I disable Buddypress plugin everything works fine ==

    You mean the comments are attributed to the correct posters?
    You haven’t said – WP/BP versions and if is was corrected if you deactivate all plugins except BuddyPress

    == . My question is how do I fix it so that my old user comments show as if they were posted by that user instead of defaulting to me all of a sudden? ==

    WP/BP versions? You’re referring to comments in blog posts, correct? BuddyPress doesn’t cause this kind of issue. Change to bp-default theme and deactivate all plugins except BuddyPress to see if issue is corrected and work from there.

    The installations instructions are not very clear for BP Multi Network, for instance,
    deactivate BuddyPress on your sub network(s).
    Edit your database and remove the bp- settings for the subnetwork from wp_sitemeta and wp_X_options where X is the blog ID of the main site in your sub network.

    Edit your database? Not sure I would know what to do there…

    Please bear in mind that this is a volunteer support forum not a service :)

    Based on the info you have supplied it’s going to be pretty hard to help. Is WP installed correctly? can you register a user under WP (forget BP for the moment and I see you say you can log in so that answers that question WP is installed) if you can and your DB does actually correctly function then activate BP – if you have installed it via some auto install avoid that and upload a fresh copy via ftp or similar.

    pls provide more info about your install – current wp/bp versions? what theme used? multisite? bp multinetwork? do you have stealth mode plugin or bp ninja plugin activated or membership plugin activated?

    Hi. I just found out that when i use the theme PageLine, i can register new users. AND thas only because PageLine uses WP’s own user registration. When i change to for example use BuddyPress Default 1.5.5, that does not use WP’s own user registration, i cant register a user.

    So, what can be wrong now? what makes the BuddyPress Default 1.5.5 theme not being able to register users?(i guess this applies for groups aswell)

    You can try it yourself, goto http://demo.raketfart.se. i have activated the BuddyPress Default 1.5.5 theme.

    Users? users are a WP function so if you can’t create users (Assuming that you have allowed registrations in WP settings) then you have to fix that issue first before worrying about BP issues. As for the BP group issue are you using the bp-default theme or a third party one? if a third party theme deactivate it and run the standard BP theme and see if things work with that theme if they do you have an issue with your third party theme and either need to talk to the author or perhaps actually run through the process of making it BP compatible – check the BP Codex for guides.

    This is because BuddyPress is not yet “aware” that they’re there until they log in, assuming BuddyPress is a recently activated plugin.

    == why the report bug page is not working in site ==
    You need to log-in again in trac with same username and password

    == our forums problem still not fix. please help ==
    @abbas667 start your own topic.

    When asking for support, include WP/BP versions, theme used, plugins installed, single WP or multisite, Linux/Windows hosting, WP installed in domain root or subdirectory,
    Did you go through the Installation Wizard after activating BuddyPress?
    Did you change to bp-default and deactivate other plugins?
    If you deleted bbPress forum tables in database, did you also delete bb-config.php file in root so you can re-start installation of the Group Forums?

    Same issue here, it is pretty frustrating as i try to figure out the different options, but i don’t find a central place which explains it me properly (o.e. the Codex, where it should be IMHO).
    I am happy to put everything together in english and german after we resolved the issue, but i don’t get it running properly (neither technically, nor in my mind).

    I. Core Definition

    If i understand it correctly, there are serveral approaches to run BuddyPress on
    a) MultiSite (WP Network)
    and
    b) MultiNetwork (BuddyPress Network)

    Correct?

    II. Different MultiSite Options

    1.) MultiSite + different Websites with different BuddyPress Networks
    2.) MultiSite + different Website but sharing the same userbase

    1.) is clear to me, but 2.) envolves already the following subquestion:
    – Can we have a single userbase, but with dedicated design per blog/domain? Let’s say we have a dog and a cat community. I would like to have the user “Frank” only once in both systems, but when he changes his profile on the cat-website, can he do it there, or will it be within one central design/domain?

    III. Issue No. 1

    Let’s assume we are running the current stable version of WP 3.3 and let’s assume the WordPress network runs properly, here already my first question:
    I do normaly use the “WordPress MU Domain Mapping”, after a few tests with “BP Multi Network plugin”, i assume i should not have it running, correct?

    IV. Issue No. 2

    So, now i am trying to established on a WP MultiSite installation different (independant) Buddy Networks. So BP Multi Network plugin is the way to go, right?
    What i don’t get is
    “4. Activate BuddyPress on your sub network.” from https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-multi-network/installation/
    I can activate BuddyPress ONLY for the whole network, not for each single (configured) domain/blog. What am i missing?

    IV. Issue No. 3

    When i activated define ( ‘BP_ROOT_BLOG’, 2); (or ID 3 in my case), the possibilty to enter “activity” was gone from all domains, i just don’t get it

    i have configured this here:
    define(‘WP_DEBUG’, false);

    define(‘WP_ALLOW_MULTISITE’, true);

    define( ‘MULTISITE’, true );
    define( ‘SUBDOMAIN_INSTALL’, false );
    $base = ‘/’;
    define( ‘DOMAIN_CURRENT_SITE’, ‘XYZ.XYZ.vom’ );
    define( ‘PATH_CURRENT_SITE’, ‘/’ );
    define( ‘SITE_ID_CURRENT_SITE’, 1 );
    define( ‘BLOG_ID_CURRENT_SITE’, 1 );

    /* WP MU Plugin https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wordpress-mu-domain-mapping/installation/ */
    define( ‘SUNRISE’, ‘on’ );

    /* That’s all, stop editing! Happy blogging. */

    Using standard Buddypress Theme from Plugin 1.5.5

    IV. Issue No. 4

    About the theme.
    Where should i activate the theme? Per Domain or just in a central community?

    Sorry for mixing up things, but that all is very unclear to me. Any ideas?

    @mercime

    @mrlobaloba Please do not post admin login in these forums. That username and password have been compromised and I deleted it from your posts in this thread. I recommend that you delete that user in your installation now.

    It might just be a theme issue. Change theme of http://lavori.italianproplayers.com/ to bp-default theme and check if issue is corrected. If not, deactivate all plugins except BuddyPress.

    @nivanc Just to start off, you will need to

    1. Install WordPress

    2. Create a Network of your WP installation
    a) subdirectory structure – http://www.domain.com/subsite1; http://www.domain.com/subsite2; http://www.domain.com/subsite3, etc.
    OR
    b) subdomain structure – http://subsite1.domain.com; http://subsite2.domain.com; http://subsite3.domain.com, etc.

    3. Install/activate BuddyPress plugin

    4. Make your BuddyPress “multisite” (separate instances of BP in one WP installation)
    a. BP Multi-Network plugin https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-multi-network/
    OR
    b. BuddyPress Multi-Network plugin http://buddydev.com/plugins/buddypress-multi-network/

    5. s2membership plugin – Free or Pro version

    Then install other plugins to improve user experience in the different BP installations in WP subsites.

    No, I would follow mercime’s advise to set up a test install to trial aspects of BP with but also activate BP on main site but until ready keep the main components de-activated except profiles, friends, messaging and use the WP menu to build your main menu so that you can ensure ‘groups’, ‘forums’, and ‘activity stream’ pages aren’t listed, this way you can run with user account/profiles from the front end and slowly introduce the other BP components as and when required.

    – WP/BP versions?
    WP 3.3.1 / BP 1.5.4
    – WP Installed in root.
    – WP Multisite = Subdirectory.
    – Windows or Linux server? Not sure.
    – Is this a new installation or an old one where you recently installed BP? I recentley installed buddy press on an old one.
    – Check folder permissions via CHMOD, what are they?
    Not sure which folders to check.
    – What other plugins are activated in your secondary site with BP?
    The primary site has quite a few plugins. As far I know I have to activate them as “Network activated” for them to work So i suppose the ones that are on the primary are also active on the secondary.

    Here’s the list of plugins i’m currently using on the primary site at least. I only really need to use buddy press and some sort of albums plugin on the secondary.

    Add multiple users v1.2.2
    Akismet v2.5.5
    BM Custom Login v1.6.5
    Buddypress v1.5.4
    Buddypress Album v 0.1.8.11
    Contact Form 7 v3.1.1
    Dynamic Widgets v1.5.0
    Events made easy v1.0.2
    Facebook Comments for WordPress v3.1.3
    Hello Dolly v1.6
    Image Widget v3.3.2
    Options Framework v1.0
    Regenerate Thumbnails v2.2.3
    Relevanssi v2.9.14
    Simple add pages or posts v1.6
    Tube Press v1.6
    WSA Favicon v1.0

    – On the primary site i’m using Block by Organic themes. On the secondary i’m using Angus by epicthemes.

    == as soon as I mad the site MultiSite, it still has the BuddyPress registration form, but the users aren’t being added to the main site as members, just the network membership. ==

    That’s the default WP way when you go multisite even if BuddyPress is deactivated. To get assistance regarding this matter, you should post at Multisite forums https://wordpress.org/support/forum/multisite

    To make your WP theme compatible with BuddyPress, you’ll need to install and activate BP Template Pack plugin then go through Appearance > BP Compatibility process
