    I bet it is some kind of anti-spam thing against smaller countries like Taiwan. But I am able to use http://codex.wordpress.org just fine when logged in or not.

    I am hosted with JustHost. I am using PHP 5.4 with singe php.ini file if that makes a difference. I have lots of plugins installed, but I deactivated all my plugins, except for Buddypress, and used the default theme and it still wouldn’t work.

    I’ve personally done a 1.2.4(ish) all the way up to 1.5.4(ish — whatever the latest version was at that time). Worked ok, I don’t think there’s a need to step through 1.5 versions.

    Problem resolved; plugin related problem. De-activated the plugin first, then upgraded Buddypress and finally re-activated the plugin. No more fatal errors.

    I doubt very much upgrading phpMyAdmin would interfere with BuddyPress. Something else must have changed.

    If you’ve figured out the error is from line 71, what is the actual error message that you get?

    Hello, there is a simply solution, few Extension as Buddypress shows messages errors with PHP 5.4, we could hide them.

    Bonjour, je suis aussi hébergé chez Legtux, je confirme le problème vient bien de la version de PHPmyAdmin, j’ai installer WordPress en local avec:
    Wamp + PHPMyAdmin 5.4.3= buddypress ne fonctionnait pas
    Wamp + PHPMyAdmin 5.3.3=buddypress fonctionne
    Avez vous reussit à faire fonctionner Buddypress ? Sinon je propose de faire un message à l’administrateur Legtux pour voir si il ne peut pas downgrader phpmyadmin vers la version 5.3

    BuddyPress Links plugin has not been updated for BP 1.5. To gain access to your wp-admin, you have to disable BuddyPress Links in wp-content/plugins/buddypress-links by renaming the folder to e.g. wp-content/plugins/buddpress-links-xxx

    I think have found the error, my host updated the version of php 5.3.5 to php 5.4.3.

    What should I do? modify htaccess file or another or … ^^ ?

    Here is the fix:

    You’ll have to manually edit the files – should be easy as you don’t have to remove anything.
    Just find the location in the files and add the ‘green’ areas.

    If you have a child theme of bp-default theme, the simple way would be to copy over:

    a) https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/1.5.4/bp-themes/bp-default/groups/create.php
    to wp-content/themes/YourChildThemeFolder/groups/create.php
    – above line 90 per linked file add “
    – below line 106 per linked file add “

    b) https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/1.5.4/bp-themes/bp-default/groups/single/admin.php
    to wp-content/themes/YourChildThemeFolder/groups/single/admin.php
    – above line 69 per linked file add “
    – below line 87 per linked file add “

    Note that if you as Site/Super Admin don’t even want to create a hidden or private group yourself, then delete lines 90-106 from create.php and delete lines 69-87 from admin.php

    @mercime– thanks, I’ll double check those resources. This is really baffling.

    @ Paul- as far as I can tell, the issue doesn’t reside with the gravatars. How close is v 1.6 to release? I recall you mentioning that bbpress 2.0 was going to be integrated with it with fully functioning sitewide forums with that version, correct? In 1.5.4 I could only ever get group forums to work in BuddyPress- sitewide wouldn’t work so I’ve had to shut down the BuddyPress forums pages and am using bbpress as a standalone plugin.

    But I’m running BP v 1.5.4.
    Speaking of which, I changed my theme to ‘BuddyPress Default 1.5.4’ (to match my BP version) and the problem was still there. Page errors on everything I tried to do in terms of interacting with the members page- next page results, sorting, searching, etc.

    I’m a little reluctant to upgrade to 1.5.5- the upgrade to 1.5.4 changed enough things to set me back a week or 2 with features I had to account for, and how it affected plugins that were already working. Speaking of which, any updates on the bbpress integration beyond group forums? (ie have you guys had any luck with getting sitewide forums working yet?)

    If necessary, I’ll do the upgrade, but hoping you understand my reservations. :)

    Hi @mercime I have the same problem. WP 3.3.1 and BP 1.5.4. I’m using a child theme based off a Theme from themeforest.net (Gratitude – http://themes.zenthemes.net/gratitude/ )

    You can see the live site with the errors here http://yogamalafoundation.org I de-activated buddypress plugins (which subsequently also weren’t working ) and then I reset permalinks. Still no go. Any help would be uber appreciated.

    Thanks for the replies Aces. I have upgraded from the most previous version of buddypress (1.5.4?). I was fortunate enough to to a backup right before upgrading so I am going to attempt restoring to the older version, so I can give you the exact information later.

    When I send a test email from WP-Mail-SMTP I get the “bool (true)” message at the top of the test report, which I have read means that the test went through. However, the email never makes it to my inbox (or spam).

    I’m not sure if this is solely a Buddypress issue as I am not receiving emails on new comments either, but this is the only change that has been made since I stopped receiving messages all together. My host provider assures me that it is not an issue with them.

    Thanks for your fast answer.

    That was a CSS problem indeed but as I really didn’t habe time to check deeper I decided to change my childtheme (its developper apparently stopped updating it for monthes so I had to change soon anyway…) Everything is OK now ;-)

    I noticed that there is no CSS style to your page,
    Make sure the css of buddypress and your theme is linked in the header.php.

    Just double check to make sure you have the
    Member
    groups
    forums
    activity
    blogs
    registration
    files in your root theme.
    ( that was my problem )

    Let me know if that helps.
