MemberRunning wordpress 3.3.1 and BP 1.5.4.
Changing to the BP default theme, error still occurs.
I am running Another WordPress Classifieds Plugin (AWPCP); and when I deactivate this the error stop. So it has something to do with this plugin although I can seem to find out why.

@mercime
ParticipantTo start with, have you changed to bp-default theme to check out whether it’s your custom theme that’s not working with BP 1.5.4?

MemberI can see in the forum wizard of BuddyPress 1.5.4, there are 2 options: Forums for Groups and Site Wide Forums. Do you mean to suggest me to choose the Site Wide Forums?
Yeah, I did that and things seem to be good except I can not see the Forums page displayed on the menu (even I can see things are working though Admin panel). When I try to access the forum pages manually by entering their URLs, the links are broken. What am I missing here?

@mercime
ParticipantI would suggest that you stick with the bbPress2.+ plugin as it works well with BuddyPress 1.5.4 – we’re lucky that JJJ is the Lead Developer for both plugins.
The current BuddyPress Group Forums (with own custom bbPress 1.0) will be migrated to bbPress plugin sometime BP 1.6

@mercime
Participant– Check if you’ve enable threaded (nested) comments in your Settings > Discussions and if level is set to more than “1”
– If the set up of your threaded comments is correct, WP 3.3.1 and BP 1.5.4 install – check your custom theme if issue is corrected. If not, contact theme developer. Change to bp-default theme and you’ll see that threaded comments are rendering as wanted.

MemberI’m really sorry for dragging up an old thread but I just cannot get this to work! I also want to hide the home tab and make the forum tab default in the group pages.
I’m running WP 3.3.1 and BuddyPress 1.5.4 and have tried every code on here to no avail! Any help would be huuuugely appreciated!!
Thank you very much!

KeymasterCool. The issue was is that BuddyPress 1.5.4 requires WordPress 3.3 or newer, and you were trying to run it on WordPress 3.0.5

ParticipantI want to bump this because I think I’m very close to finally solving this for many of us, but it’s going to need someone who is better at reading PHP or understanding the BP Codex.
My activation links work if I register from BuddyPress, but not if I register from WordPress. Is everyone else doing the same?
Here is a link to the new thread in hopes to solve our problem.

ParticipantWell it is not clearing. I don’t want to edit core files, how can I force it to clear after a group is created? Should I put a setcookie() that hooks into the bp_after_create_group() ? Please advise.. something is obviously not working correctly here.
It is not clearing even when using the bp-default theme with no other plugins running. I have the latest stable version of WordPress (3.3.1) and BuddyPress (1.5.4).

MemberThanks @mercime. I read BP’s description of 1.5.4 and that’s not what I want. All I want is for people to be able to follow my blog if they so wish. I’ll keep looking for plugins that’ll do that. Unless you have a suggestion…?
If I do decide to use BP, what would I set permalinks to? Custom?
March 4, 2012 at 9:19 pm #130885In reply to: No Follow Button Under User Profile
@mercime
Participant1. You should be using BuddyPress 1.5.4 with WP 3.3.1
2. You need to have “pretty permalinks” ==> dashboard menu Settings > Permalinks – and set permalinks to other than default.March 3, 2012 at 2:41 pm #130824swisspenelope
Memberi found something interesting – my new member appeared in the member list, after several attempts to copy paste the activation key, which always kept me on the Activation page as though nothing had happened. so apparently it works, but you get strange behaviour when you do it – making you think it hasn’t worked. anyone else see this behaviour?

Member@mercine, i have buddypress default theme and have de-activated all plugins except Suffusion BuddyPress Pack. i have the same problem as the guys above. (same wp and bp versions as above.) if i have understood correctly, in the email i received, the string
http://www.mywebsitename.org/activate/?key=9f664b72a0b703fe63a4f61fc2066175
contains the activation key at:
9f664b72a0b703fe63a4f61fc2066175
but when i paste this in the Activation Code box, i stay on the same page and nothing happens.
thanks, regards

ParticipantMark, I just downgraded to 1.5.0 and my activation links are still not copying the code into the activation bar.
I’m back at 1.5.4 now.
I would like this solved as well. It seems to be a problem I’m seeing pop up frequently.
Is anyone else also running these plugins:

MemberIn short yes, this is my first buddypress setup so first thing I did was to test out registration
This was both in the custom-community theme and the default theme. No other plugins, except bbpress which I disabled to test, still no go.I am on a timeline so I have reverted to 1.5.0 and the activation step worked in one go. Unfortunately I am having problems as site-wide forums arent available in that version but that would be another topic. If none of the other posters sites are still available for testing, Id be glad to set up a vanilla wp, and buddypress install and provide you with the login and password…
Something in the code has definitely changed. I guess I could do a diff between 1.5.0 and 1.5.4… If someone finds the answer before I get the chance to do that, even better, let us know.

ParticipantYou have not indicated whether you perform basic troubleshooting procedures like:
– First way to address this is to check whether the same behavior applies when you change to bp-default theme.
– To further isolate the issue, if changing to bp-default doesn’t work, is to deactivate all plugins except BuddyPress and see if issue is corrected.March 1, 2012 at 5:20 pm #130709markstone417@gmail.com
MemberSo are you guys going to address this issue? I have the same problem on a clean install of wordpress and buddypress with no additional plugins active and have tried several themes. My site is http://www.websitesthatkickass,com/patrick/
