Topic: Invalid Activation Key
When someone registers on my site, they are sent an email to activate it. Once they activate it and then login, they are redirected to a page that says they have used an invalid activation key when in fact they are logged in and active. Does anyone now about this. Feel free to test it on my site at http://www.soundbodyconceptsllc.com.
I have reviewed the forums and found this issue over a year ago, but there is no clear solution. Any help would be appreciated.
Topic: Errors on activation
When I clicked the link for activation it took me to wp-activate.php, it worked but threw all these errors….

Whats wrong?
I have been using WordPress for a few month for my new website. And there is one problem that have been troubling me. At first, it don’t really matter to the website, but as more registration came, this problem have become a big problem for me.
User is able to register using the normal way, but the moment they are needed to activate their account, the activation link that they receive from the email is not functioning.
I have tried to register myself, and the link from the email really didn’t do any thing, it just forward you to activation page and said provide a valid activation key.
Any idea what have gone wrong ?
I have provide my website register page below if anyone want to try it by yourself.

Thank you.
Running WP 3.2.1 and BP 1.5 — I know these aren’t the lastest versions, but I’ve made enough changes to the core to accomplish my needs that updating would prove problematic. I know I know, bad bad. That said, I know first thoughts to fix any issues would be to update, but this problem has occurred for me on fresh installs as well. I’ve also scoured the forums and various other resources to help try and identify the source of this issue and have found other sites experiencing this problem, but nobody seems to have a clear picture of why this might be happening. The problem is also very elusive as it’s very hard to reproduce due to its randomness. I’ve tried deactivating plugins to no avail.
Here’s the story: A very small percentage of users who register on my site, after completing their sign-up and receiving an activation email—upon clicking on the activation link, they get the :else from activate.php that produces the following: “Please provide a valid activation key.”, even though if I look in wp-users in mysql, I can see that user_status has correctly been set from 2>0. No matter what they do, even by entering the key from the querystring in the activation email, you can’t get passed that page/else. However, and most users couldn’t know this, if they exit activate.php and, for example, return to the homepage where there are login inputs, they can successfully login in with the username and password they just activated, and from there everything is golden.
In other words, for a seemingly random and small percentage of users, activate.php isn’t working properly and they get stuck on “Please provide a valid activation key.”, even though they should never see that due to the successful activation within wp_users. I thought perhaps it might have something to do with creating the profile in one browser, and then when the end-user receives their activation email, their email application is opening a different browser and they’re getting this error, but I’m unable to verify this as the issue because I’ve also tested this and it’s very rarely and randomly reproducible.
The big what-is-going-on-here is, what could be causing a very small percentage of users to experience this while most do not? I have found reports of this happening on other sites but haven’t been able to find a solution or perhaps a reason.
Has anybody experienced this? Any solutions?
Any and all thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks so much!Topic: Invalid activation key
ok, 2 questions actually.. how the heck do I search the forums for answers so I don’t have to post if this has been answered before ?
And more importantly! Every user that signs up to my page receives an email with an activation key, but when they try to activate their account, they get an error message saying “Invalid activation key”
what is happening and how can I fix it???
Topic: Activitation key issue
Problem (Site has the latest BP /WP installed):
1. User signs up. All ok. Checks his mail and clicks on the activation link in the mail.
2. Back on the site he gets a message, “Your account has been activated. You can now log in with your details”
3. He logs in. Log-in is successful, but
4. He’s taken to a page with the url “domain.com/activate” that prompts him with the following message:
Please provide a valid activation key.
Below this is a field with the title Activation Key. No matter what he enters there (including meticulously typing out the key contained within the activation link in his mail), he keeps getting a message, “Invalid activation key provided.
5. The problem encountered in (4) is actually meaningless, because his activation is actually successful and if he were to ignore the prompt for an activation key, he can use the site normally and won’t be asked for this the next time he logs in. It appears just the first time he logs in after clicking the activation link (in his mail)
Any help ???Topic: Sorry, no members were found
Hello everyone,
I recently installed Buddypress and have been running into some problems with the member section and inviting new members to join. I am using the ‘Invite Anyone’ plugin, however the problem persists even when all plugins are deactivated, and I even started a new installation on a different site and ran into the same issue.
1) At http://community.altschool.me/members it suggests that there are 6 members, however when I select ‘All Members’ it returns “Sorry, no members were found.”.
2) When I invite people to join groups through the Invite Anyone plugin, everything works fine until they are click on the link in the activation email and receive the notification “Invalid activation key, please provide a valid activation key”.
Has anyone seen either of these issues before? These did not seem to be a problem a week ago.
Thanks in advance, Mat
I had S2Member extension install on buddy press, I did a sandbox checkout with PayPal, and return to user registration page once the payment method is complete, BuddyPress then send me email confirmation with activate key.
Here is the problem:
I accidentally closed the page before the confirmation URL loads, then I try to copy & paste the URL to an other browser, it says “invalid” activation key.i know this is a stupid mistake, I ended up have to re-purchase the membership again, I just thought if we can have a button on “Invalid Key” page, so we can resent a new confirmation email.
Can any1 point me a direction where I might be looking into?
I will share the result if I find anything useful.
Regards
Gary
Topic: Activation key not working
I have a default install of BP and when I sign up as a new user I get the activation email and when I click on the link, using default BP theme, it takes me to the activation page but a text box comes up saying please enter valid activation key. Even if I goto the email and copy and paste the key into the text box it still says ‘please enter validate’. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled all I have installed is the latest WP MU from the MU site and from plugins I install BP nothing else.
Suffice it to say if I don’t install the BP plugin acivation works fine and the user blog comes up with no problem. Can someone please point me in the right direction? I don’t feel like reinstalling a 3rd time. This is just a default install no plugins besides BP and it works. I also checked the ‘wp_signups’ table and the activation key matches what comes in the email. It just thinks the key is invalid both as a link and when entering the key in a box. And when I deactivate BP activation works fine.
Thanks for any help this is frustrating.
