@michaelecklund BuddyPress is built with the intentions of scaling into millions of users, something individual WordPress sites were not originally intended to handle. Shoving everything into a WordPress post type/taxonomy is not the answer, and does not solve any immediate problems.

streams are not related to profile fields. stream is created by site activity. i don’t think theres a decent way to hide that other then for admin users using a plugin or by modifying code stuff.

@Gregykos believe it or not a lot of those “robots” are actually people.

As with the others, there is a free version, but you have to pay monthly subscriptions for their service if you want more features, users, etc.

I would never accept a plugin that has not been inspected from the WordPress repo. I can program a dog gone php key logger and unsuspecting people would be transferring all their info server side to me and they would not even realize what the hell happened. I would not do this, but you should be aware that it can be done. WordPress inspects plugins and anytime you use something provided by a third party you risk getting hacked and bitch slapped. Its just an all round bad idea! My point is you do not know what code may have been added to this plugin to make it malicious. If you knew how to code then you would not be here asking for plugins. You would be making your own instead so it is a safe assumption that you do not know how to read php scripts or know any programming. I would never take a plugin from a person you do not know or trust.

well @mercime thanks for your feedback but I have tried the same thing and it’s not working but let me ask you this does the fact that I am using bp-columns child theme and that theme has a left sidebar, might be the reason that is interfering with this. by the way my site url is http://www.buddyswired.com

and when you get there you will see that there’s nothing in left sidebar except the avatar and your name but I would like to move everything “bp-Menu” into that sidebar. Now I know there’s the plugin from modemlooper but his plugin doesn’t have a menu tree so if I use his plugin and remove completely the center column menu, then all sub-links would be gone.

There was a plugin at one time that resolved this issue but the developer removed it from the repo. From what I hear it is now a plugin you have to pay for. There is no one here that can help you on this issue. So if you want this feature then I suppose you will have to pay for it now. The web address I knew that this plugin existed was from some guy named shawn38 so get in touch with him but it may be hard to find now I think it was http://www.ezwebdesign.wordpress.com but I am not certain either.

Use WordPress a page template and hard code a BuddyPress group loop in the page template. Create a WordPress page in the admin. You do the same thing when you created those pages when you install BuddyPress. BuddyPress just overrides the page that gets loaded with it’s own template which is why you don’t have to create the page template yourself.

Such an app would be very nice indeed.

are you sure that status theme is compatibale with current version of buddypress?
