KeymasterI’ve found that BP Humanity helps with spam robots but not human spammers.

KeymasterbbPress gets that “for free” because it uses custom post types and therefore WordPress’ template hierarchy. Let me see what I can do for BuddyPress.

ParticipantSorry for the late replies – I have been quite busy!
Bebop was created from an academic perspective to aggregate OER content from around the web into BuddyPress.
There is nothing to stop anyone else creating a facebook /any other extension, just send me a pull request on Github and I will check it out! (https://github.com/lncd/bebop). There is also a Wiki on Github explaining the key steps to creating a plugin.
Bebop creates its own user_meta table because the options bebop uses is rather complicated; I decided to simplify this by temporarily using a custom table until such a point when I can switch over to the standard user_meta table. I will only ever do this if i can reliably and accurately remove data though!
As i have mentioned in the blog posts, the funding for Bebop has officially ran out so I cannot spend time from my ‘working day’ adding features. I will work on bebop as and when I can, in my own time, but i will always maintain that ‘paid’ work must come first. (I also do a lot of freelance work, not just around the ‘WP/BP’ theme.) Unless, of course, people want to ‘sponsor’ some particular work.
If you find bugs or have feature requests please add them to Github. This makes it easy for me to see what the priorities should be when I have some spare time to work on Bebop.
Thanks for testing and using bebop; its the first plugin I have made and it is nice to know that people are finding it useful.

Participant@mercime I just tried deactivating all other plugins and reverted to all the default themes with the same outcome. I am not questioning the quality of the plugin whatsoever as I have heard many people using the plugin without issue.. but I am not sure what the issue that I am seeing may be.
Also i noticed on the plugin page that some others were asking about the compatibility with 3.4.2 so I am not sure if maybe someone else may be seeing the same issue that I am.

ParticipantOne addition: it seems, that also the state of privacy is not saved, when i create a new group. Only, when i change the privacy after creation. So when i want to add a private group and not public, it is still public after creation. The problem exists also with Standard Theme of Buddypress…

ParticipantHey,
somehow i cannot use this site correctly.Clicking on “Create new topic” throws a 404 on https://buddypress.org/forums/new-topic/.
So i cannot create a new topic for my problem, but it might be a bit related to this one here.
When i create a new group in Buddypress, the avatar i upload is not shown. It is indeed uploaded to “wp-content/uploads/group-avatars”, but not in a subfolder like when i change the avatar of a group. After changing the avatar, the avatar is shown. But when i create a new group and want to upload an avatar, it is the standard avatar shown.
Where could be the problem? The rights are already 777.

Participant== rename the ‘Activity’ tab as well as the ‘Friends’ tab, how can I do this ==
Creating a language will change all instances of Activity and Friends in your site to what you want. https://codex.buddypress.org/extending-buddypress/customizing-labels-messages-and-urls/== ‘Profile’ tab automatically loads instead of the activity feed. ==
Look for Change the default tab opened when looking at a user’s profile (default is activity): -> https://codex.buddypress.org/extending-buddypress/changing-internal-configuration-settings/October 31, 2012 at 8:00 am #144294EthanVan
SpectatorActually @karmatosed has the best solution. Using the selector CSS in a child theme is the easiest way to fix the button overlap. Aside from that the plugin was working great to start with.

ParticipantThis could be a javaScript or theme problem.
Steps to troubleshoot:
1) Deactivate all plugins except for BuddyPress
2) Activate the default BuddyPress themeDoes it work now? If so, then you have a plugin or theme problem.

Participant@blogurp Please create a new topic. This topic deals with BP Menus and you have an issue with BP compatibility, I will help you there.

ParticipantScott, the plugin author of restrict usernames, is a top-notch developer and I’ve used the plugin successfully in my sites. The plugin is compatible with BuddyPress. Could be conflict with another plugin and/or with theme, there are just so many variables. Have you tried deactivating other plugins except BuddyPress to test restrict usernames plugin?

ParticipantI am having the same problem with my button not appearing on my new site I started building last week, HippieNations.com, but, I am not using the BP Menus, or any of the other plugins you have listed. I used BP Compatibility to make a non BuddyPress theme BuddyPress. I think I remember somewhere it asked me if I wanted the button or to hit enter and I chose to hit enter, but, that was the wrong choice I think. I don’t remember where I saw that though and I can’t find it again. I also thought maybe it was some kind of permission error too maybe. I will keep trying to figure it out.

Participant@mercime I have tried that plugin but it doesn’t seem to be working I am not sure if it is a compatibility issue with WP, but have posted on the restrict-usernames plugin support and am awaiting a response. I just though that maybe going the route of the registration form may be another option if it is even possible..

Participant@pataphor open up your theme’s header.php with a text editor, copy all code, paste code in pastebin.com, click submit and post the generated URL here. Do the same for your theme’s index.php, page.php, sidebar.php and footer.php files.

Participant@djpaul, @hnla, @r-a-y, @mercime et al,
I’ll move the conversation back over on to the trac ticket, as I think that’s the best place for this discussion to stop it becoming lost.
As @hnla points out bbPress whilst supporting template parts auto injected into page.php, also allows you to provide full templates for specific content where you want to override the automatic mechanism (TBC). As with the WordPress template hierarchy it’s based on the type and name of the content being displayed. So, for example — you could create a template archive-myforumxyz.php.
I suspect a similar hierarchy based system for BuddyPress would be best route — with template hierarchy names that recognise display of single groups, single profiles, directories, etc., and override the auto injection into page.php if defined.
Will elaborate my thoughts on the trac.
