On all of the Buddypress pages that display the RSS text (such as the Activity pages), is there a way to replace the RSS text with the RSS Icon?
From other Buddypress sites I’ve viewed, it seems that everyone just has the text instead of the icon. So I’m wondering what file I have to edit to make the icon visible instead of the text.
Any help would be appreciated!
I use the latest versions of WP and BP.
When user logs in on the tabs age shows as correct (born year 1990 it shows as 24) but when user logs out (also non-members) can view the same page same age data differently as 44 (the default age data of buddypress) instead of 24. Why do you think that happens? Any solutions?

Sorry about the confusing title. Our nonprofit veterans support organization need a tool on our website, jumpwings.org, to assist veterans looking for work to find suitable employers and conversely for employers to find vets to hire.
My question is that before I get too vested in BuddyPress, does anyone out there think it is realistic for me to configure BuddyPress for this purpose?
If so, then any hints on how to proceed would be appreciated. I am a software developer by trade and not daunted by complicated configuration or customization.
Topic: Contact Form 7 Cart
On my BuddyPress site I have been successfully able to let my users send me queries about other users. I have accomplished this by using Contact Form 7 + Dynamic Text Extension. When I receive an email sent by contact form 7; I know which user (current_user) has sent me query about which user (displayed_user).
The problems are –
1 – I receive multiple emails when a user enquires about multiple users.
2 – The users have no chance to change their mind and cancel their query / selection.What I want –
Somehow gather the data collected by contact form 7 from all the selections done by the user, show it in one place and give the user a chance to cancel or add more selections before sending email.
I will appreciate any help/directions on this. Kindly guide.

Hi, I am very impressed at BuddyPress. This is the best plugin to make/manage social web site.
However, it also makes my site slow. I checked performance with P3 Plugin Profiler and BuddyPress is no.1 (or 2 sometimes) loading time plugin. Here is the result.
My web site is already optimized with cache plugin and the other optimization plugins. WP Super Cache (This one is the faster one than Hyper Cache or W3 Total Cache for my site), jQuery lazy load plugin, WP-DBManager, WP-Optimize, WP Clean Up, WP Minify, WP Smush.it, and WordPress Twitter Bootstrap CSS. I do not want to add more plugin for performance as I think these are good enough.
What I am curious is whether there are other way to decrease BuddyPress loading time. I researched about this issue a lot, but most of them are similar answers and was not so helpful. Only thing what I did not try is changing hosting provider. But it is big deal to move to the other one.

Would like to see an option to remove all calls to gravatar.com… Experimented with some gravatar caching plugins, but they do not play well with buddypress. Certainly there could be an option to use default, self-hosted images instead of auto-creating gravatar or other third party dependencies when user accounts are created, groups are created, etc.

I see there has been some talk about media attachments with buddypress
http://buddypress.org/support/topic/member-photo-galleries/ )We really need to have a solid option for media uploads / albums, the old bp-album is outdated and RtMedia although powerful, has too many conflicts. Is this something that is going to be figured out with the buddypress.org group, or are we going to be left at the mercy of third parties who have no interest in compatibility with others?

the RtMedia plugin is the best for allowing users to upload pictures and media, given that the other option (bp-media or bp-album or something like that) ceased updates long long ago.
I give major applause to the team who develops this plugin, as they are constantly working on updates for it, and have found ways to monetize premium addon features, so hopefully they will continue to update and improve this important piece of the buddypress puzzle.
The main problem with this plugin is that it completely fails with many themes. Currently the amount of themes that are well suited to use with buddypress is very small, and most of the recent buddypress compatible themes are bootstrap based or similar. Rtmedia will not display images on gallery pages with most of these modern themes.
This may change one day, but currently I am assuming that the rtmedia plugin uses some of the same naming conventions and or files that bootsrap based themes also use – and conflicts arise.
There are a few theme options that work with rtmedia, however those are very limited.
Sadly the choice as of today for buddypress users is to have a small theme selection and no good way for users to upload photos, or use rtmedia as the best option for uploading media, but only have a few theme options that will work with buddypress and rtmedia.
This is an issue for buddypress in general, and not particularly rtmedia’s fault that buddypress after years of being released still lacks the basic functionality that other social media scripts have offered for years right out of the box without all the problems.

1-On profile page there are About me and Looking for tabs. And I see the same data in both tabs. Looking for has the same info as About me. Basically the name, age, height, weight etc all base info appears in looking for tab too.
1st tab and 2nd tab both shows the same rows same data in normal regular view. basically 1st tab supposed to display only its group field values but it shows its and 2nd tab’s values too in total. And 2nd tab does the same it shows both tab values:http://site.com/members/username => NOT OK
But when user logs in in edit mode they work ok, but in normal user view tabs messed up again:

I’m looking to make Buddypress content private. I’ve tired a range of plugins, but they seem to make the entire WordPress site private, or only offer options to exclude certain pages. I’m looking for a way to make everything on the site public, except for Buddypress community content. Can someone advise? Apologies if this is a duplicate – I’ve been searching through plenty of discussions but nothing has worked – all have made everything private like I mentioned.

Hi, I have a membership site running s2members (free version) and buddypress. I have 130 members and only one user has this problem where he gets “page not found” on all his buddypress pages.
He can login and navigate around the site and see the forum, but cannot get to his activity/profile/messages etc.
The only thing I can see that is different between this user and everyone else is he has a . in his username. I can see from searching this forum that has been a problem for other people. But the system lets you register with a .
If that is indeed the problem, how do I prevent people from registering with a dot in the username?
More importantly, how do I solve the problem for this particular user? He has already done a bunch of stuff and uploaded photos and things, plus he’s paid, so I don’t think he will be happy with starting over with a different username.
