@mercime
Participant@awclubbock when you’re logged in, clicking on the register link will bring you to home page by default
As for invitation with code, the ones I’ve seen before haven’t been updated for current BP/WP lately. Check out other possible plugins for controlled registrations:

– https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/multisite-user-registration-manager/

Participanti tried manual installation but it didnt worked

they propseme to upgrade my php to 5.3
http://kb.securesignup.net/index.php?/article/AA-00256/8/Premium-Hosting/Using-PHP-5.3.htmlmaybe its because of default php5.2 version
they are linux base and i find this to upgrade 5.3http://support.hostgator.com/articles/hosting-guide/hardware-software/php-5-3
Linux Dedicated Servers
Do not use the Handler code listed above. Instead, you must email support@hostgator.com and request Apache be recompiled to use PHP 5.3.
i should wait for their work

Participant@qrahaman Right! So you are talking about stuff happening at other sites…like Disqus manages comments on many sites or Gravatar serves profile pictures to many sites.
This is not a social network feature. I don’t know any social network that does this.
It is an entirely different product. Furthermore, a hosted product, not a script.
Also, this is completely unrelated to this thread. If you’d like to discuss the concept further, please start a new topic.

ParticipantI still don’t get it. With the link you referenced, those are all updates from within the buddypress.org community. I don’t see any feeds from other communities outside of buddypress.org into Paul’s wall. I must be blind.

Participant`Is that already possible?`
@qrahaman Yes.Are you familiar with Facebook wall? You don’t go to Coca-Cola page or your friend George’s profile to get updates from them….you get everything on your wall.
This is already possible in BuddyPress. Try the link I posted the previous message to see Paul’s wall.

MemberOK, so re-installing the default buddypress theme worked. I had tried switching back to the default from wp_framework theme before, and that didn’t seem to work. Took full on re-install of buddypress theme. Also, still doesn’t work with wp_framework, so will go looking for another theme instead that does work. Thanks for the help.

@bounomid Your WP installation should be installed manually not via webhost scripts for BuddyPress to work without issues https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/before-installing/#system-and-server-requirements

ParticipantIf you have your own community, it is entirely possible that you have a group within it that I would want to be fed updates. I don’t necessarily want to navigate to your community to then go to that group to figure out what’s going on every time. I want to stay in my own community and be fed all updates globally from whatever groups that I’ve subscribed to from all global communities. Is that already possible? If so, I’m all ears.

Participant@qrahaman I still don’t understand what you mean by join `Curling group from within D&D`
I mean of course, Paul can join Curling Group. Irrespective of where he spends his day, his wall https://buddypress.org/community/members/djpaul/activity/groups/ shows updates from all his groups, same as facebook.

ParticipantLet’s say that ESPN started its own BuddyPress community. Several groups have been started: Football, Tennis, Soccer, and Curling. Furthermore, let’s say that @djpaul is super interested in the happenings of curling but the community to which he spends oodles of time, D&D, doesn’t have a “curling” group. What if Paul could subscribe/join ESPN’s Curling group from within D&D? That way Paul could stay in D&D but always be up on the latest curling news…. Is that better or did I muddy it up even further?
Disclaimer: I have no idea if Paul plays D&D or has any interest in the Olympic sport of curling (illustrative purposes only).

Participant@qrahaman Actually, on the ticket the developers have indicated that technical implementation is rather simple. The issue is making a decision on whether this is something they want to do.
`Consider this: what if a member could join a or subscribe to a group that’s in a different BuddyPress community where the activity for that group comes into his/her personal activity stream?`
Not quite sure what you mean.September 17, 2012 at 8:12 pm #1419419087877
Inactive@gregfielding if your using a child theme then wrap the code in the header that pulls the header image. Just make sure you do it dynamically using the proper tags.

InactiveHi @formbi as @modemlooper already addressed he is going to be updating the plugin so maybe its best to wait until its done and it will resolve your issue.

ParticipantThe text is clickable, if you use that option. But if you upload a header image and disable the text, the image is not clickable.
Seems like an oversight perhaps…

ParticipantThank you so much for the help! I did activiate the BP template pack and a page has been assigned to the registration. We have our site hidden behind a maintenance mode plugin, so only registered users can see the site. I think since we’re registered, when we click on the /register page it takes us to the home page. We will have to test this by taking the maintenance mode plugin down.
Can we limit who can register for the site with a code?
Thanks!

Inactive@gregfielding I am sure there are sites that do not have a clickable logo but that is usually an amateur mistake, logos should always link back to home. Maybe I am wrong but if my memory serves me correct if your using the default theme then it should already be clickable and direct to home. At least my logos are clickable I just can’t remember if a had to add custom code to make it happen. Good luck!

MemberHave you tried the spam plugin, Bad Behavior? I can’t remember if I read about it on the Support forums here, or if I just Googled “Buddypress Spam” and read a recommendation of it on another site, but it seems to be working for us since we started using it a few weeks ago. I haven’t found any issues with how it functions with Buddypress, either, so far.

Inactive@juanmaguerrero What we need to do is provide CSS stylsheets that will provide for people who are not using a computer. The main fault in the code right now is there is no provision if the browser cant render it and that means no one has a way to see old activity if their preferred browser will not render the code. It should revert back to the default functionality if it can’t render the autoload function. I am on vacation now so I can’t spend much time on this at the moment but we can iron this out when I get home!

Participant== I only installed BP on the primary domain because of a bug in the BP software that would not allow the installation wizard to run on the sub-domain. ==
I have run the Installation wizard on WP/BP sites in physical subdomains, so I am not sure why it’s not running on yours. If you are on single WP now in your subdomain installation, remember to delete the bp-custom.php file from wp-content/plugins/ if you created one
Windows/Linux hosting? Have you gone to Settings > Permalinks and chosen a permalink other than the default one? If you’ve already run the installation wizard while in multisite, you might not need to do so again now that you’ve reverted back to single installation. Go to Settings > BuddyPress and check if you have the panels per this page https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/configure-buddypress-components/

Participant== how can I allow user to create account through my registration page.? ==
@mechnoflux enable registration in Settings > General on single WP site
== also how to connect forum directly to buddy press page? ==
Which forum are you referring to, the Group Forums (custom bbPress in BP) or Sitewide Forums (bbPress plugin)?
September 17, 2012 at 7:27 pm #141922In reply to: Activity content outside the loop, in the head?
r-a-y
KeymasterYou could also wrap modemlooper’s code with a few conditionals:
`<?php
// see if the activity component is active and if we’re currently on an activity permalink page
if ( bp_is_active( ‘activity’ ) && bp_is_single_activity() ) :
// add our mini activity loop
if ( bp_has_activities( ‘include=’ . bp_current_action() ) ) :
while ( bp_activities() ) : bp_the_activity();
?><meta property="og:description" content="”/>
<?php
endwhile;
endif;
endif;
?>`This can also be turned into a tiny plugin, so if you don’t like adding huge chunks of code into your header.php, you could hook into the ‘bp_head’ action:
http://pastebin.com/CPAk4D16 (paste the following into wp-content/plugins/bp-custom.php)@mercime
ParticipantThe code can be found in https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/1.6.1/bp-themes/bp-default/sidebar.php You could ask theme author how to add the login form code in the dynamix theme
